Firefox should buy Tonido. It will change the industry if it happens and the way people share information. I probably may be little ahead. If you think deeply it will make sense.
With Tonido you can right click any file or folder and it will create an URL for the resource. You can share the URL with anybody for download. There is no limit on file size, no uploading - completely private and secure.
At least, the broader principles:
* Disk is cheap and getting cheaper
* Put the user in control. Own your data.
* Privacy and paranoia
* Decentralization is important, but..
* End users won't be dorks. Must also be possible to be easy, hosted.
* Content-Addressability has so many awesome properties (validation, cachability, etc). Use it as much as possible.
* Redundancy and over-explicitness is fine. Compression will help. Redundancy and over-explicitness will be convenient for future digital archeologists, too.It has an underlying peer-to-peer and data sync service as well.
Please don't jump to hasty conclusions. Come to our forum and see how happy our community is...
Most of the explanations i see in the internet about net neutrality deals with only content downloaded or streamed from public online services. I think it is ironic.
