SAAS founder. I love to teach what I know even if I am no expert. It is simple. Teaching makes you better. I love to ask the "why" and not just the "what" or "how". I also am a geek and builder by nature.

I am always looking for smart, hungry and talented people to join me in creating great products and company.

My long term interests are in SaaS, edtech, hrtech, Dev Tools etc for the most part. I may have ADHD but too lazy to get diagnosed.

Always happy to chat with strangers. Hit me up if you want to talk about anything.

codegeek··on Ask HN: Developers – Do you let agents write production code?
10x code is mostly overrated. The first goal of any code is to solve a problem for the customer/business and solve it fast enough. The second goal is to make it efficient/repeatable etc as needed. But if you never meet the first goal, the 2nd goal is moot. So, based on how real world works, Bob is going to be a lot more valuable to any company unless you are building something that is very core to the machine (like an OS etc). Then, may be Bill.
codegeek··on Ask HN: Has AI killed the front end engineer role?
No. AI is killing the average/mediocre/order taker roles whether frontend or backend or full stack. Nt because it is necessarily better than the mediocre ones but because it is 100x cheaper. Can't beat that. My honest answer.
codegeek··on Tailwind Labs is joining Shopify
Happy for Tailwind as this was possible the best outcomes possible for them at this stage. It is clear that most of the frameworks for software are going to struggle significantly because of AI. Especially CSS frameworks. No one cared about writing CSS code by hand before AI and now with AI, no one needs to care about frameworks as well. AI writes it for you so I don't care whether its tailwind or plain css.
codegeek··on Show HN: GET Together – A social network where you don't need POST to Post
This takes me back to early 2000s when HTML forms were submitted using GET request. Fun times.
codegeek··on 25,000 Lbs. Of Chicken Products Recalled in 5 States: USDA
I honestly feel that we living in twilight zone in the United States.
codegeek··on I used AWS cognito for a startup. I wouldn't do it again
I like Keycloak a lot but didn't select them because I cannot use my own frontend framework.
codegeek··on I used AWS cognito for a startup. I wouldn't do it again
I am going to be that guy.

8/10 times, you don't need these 3rd party providers. Yes, someone is going to tell me all about the SSOs, SCIMs, Audit Logs etc etc but the point is that 8/10 applications are simple enough to build their own Auth. The rest, go for these services. I never understood the appeal of these 3rd party providers who can hold you hostage just for your users to login ? In 2026 ? I don't get it. May be I am dumb.

codegeek··on Are you good at AI, or just using it?
I don't care what my level is. I fire it up, try to prompt what I need to and get things done. If it doesn't do what I want, I update my prompt accordingly.
codegeek··on Go 1.27
Exactly. I was talking more about readability.
codegeek··on AI didn't erase the junior engineer's value, it increased it it
"The worst part is that AI is covering up their deficiencies. They don’t know what skills they lack. They don’t even know what skills are required because they haven’t put the effort in."

This is the biggest issue with AI. It is incredible when in the right hands (Senior devs who know good fundamentals and know how to code) but really bad when in wrong hands (Juniors with no fundamentals but they are made to believe that they know what they are doing).

codegeek··on Go 1.27
Do it. It is just a beautiful language to write and much simpler to pickup than many others. I am a fan boy of course but I love Go.
codegeek··on PostgreSQL for Everything
These types of articles needed to be written because we have gone way too much in the other direction. The issue is that people use too many tools prematurely when they are not needed at their stage. So yea, in most cases, you are probably better off just with Postgres. I m a culprit of this myself so I wouldn't say that I know better. It is just too tempting to setup too many tools to feel cooler or feeling that "we must use elasticsearch as no one does search in db".
codegeek··on Why Don't We Version UIs?
I have seen some older Software/SAAS UIs displaying version numbers. But letting you switch may not make sense because usually a change happens both in backend and frontend and switching versions is not something vendors want to offer due to the complexity of switching required.
codegeek··on Ask HN: How would you market this service?
I looked at your landing page and I cannot understand what it does. What are you licensing exactly ? Is it a license for softsare product (e.g. license key etc) OR is it license as in restricting how many users can access the product etc ?

I think you need to be very clear on what problem are you solving exactly and for whom ? May be I am not your target audience but I have no clue what you offer from your landing page.

codegeek··on Someone is running mass vulnerability scans, spoofing AI bots like ClaudeBot
Thank you for sharing. I will take a look.
codegeek··on Someone is running mass vulnerability scans, spoofing AI bots like ClaudeBot
Is there an easy way to block any requests originating from VPS etc instead of residential/commercial IP from legitimate users ? I know cloudflare does a few things but I really want to figure out a way to block any request say at nginx or caddy (reverse proxy) from reaching origin servers if they are not from an IP that is not a VPS etc.
codegeek··on YC startups are abandoning .com
.ai is the new .io but nothing will beat .com. Even Paul Graham has said that.
codegeek··on U.S. economy lost 23,000 jobs in July, a sudden reversal
I don't call that Heathcare. It call that Heath"Scam" run by Big Pharma and Insurance Mafia.
codegeek··on Ask HN: After 8 Years of Failed Apps, Should I Give Up?
"trying for eight years". "I tried to build tens of apps". "I started getting other ideas again"

I am running a bootstrapped SAAS for 11+ years. Since you asked for honest feedback, I will lay it on you straight. The fact is that most people who try what you have tried give up after few weeks or months on one project and then move on to another. That is not critical mass or time to build anything real. Most influencers/indie hackers peddling multiple products at same time or micro-saas or whatever are either inflating their numbers or outright lying.

Let me be very clear. It is very difficult to do multiple things at once. It is almost impossible to make money from multiple things at once especially if they are not already established and you are starting from scratch.

So the 1st question you have to ask yourself is: How bad do I want to do my own things and what is my goal exactly ? The only way possible to focus on 1 thing at least for 12-18 months minimum (ideally 2+ years) before you see anything real to even move the needle a little bit.

So again, ask tyourself: what can you work on for next 12-18 months without worrying about short term or overnight success ? If you cannot answer that, you don't have anything to try yet.

codegeek··on Gemini Robotics 2 brings whole body intelligence to robots
Agreed. That's one thing I realized I cannot do myself. I bought an expensive Mower Rider and tried it myself only realizing how much work it is for do trimming, blow, cleanup, weeding etc other than just mowing. Granted, I have a large property. I hired back a landscaper and focus my time on other things :)
codegeek··on Gemini Robotics 2 brings whole body intelligence to robots
It is all about the ROI. A lawn cut from a professional can cost anywhere from $25-$100 on an average (per cut). So with a $1000 lawn mower, you will get the return back in 10-40 cuts at most. That is less than 1-2 seasons. Sure, there will be some maintenance cost over the years but if you look at a 5-10 year period, it is totally worth doing your own. Even with the $1000 price tag. Of course, you cannot count the labor time.
codegeek··on Gemini Robotics 2 brings whole body intelligence to robots
You never know the future but imagine the people who were bearish on personal computers when it wasn't a thing yet but was being discussed. Imagine Email, Internet etc etc. Now they are commodities. I am sure one day AI Robots will be a commodity that we could buy for $1000. May be 10 years from now. But it is coming.
codegeek··on Tell HN: Namecheap gave my account to an unverified third party
OH no. This is really bad news. Gotta think of alternatives now. I never had a single hosting/software company that got better after being bought by PE. They got 1000x worse in a few months since PE take over.
codegeek··on Ask HN: Why don't we solve aging?
"Why isn't it the top priority for everyone?"

You mean afte we have solved hunger, poverty, human trafficking, drought, famine, natural disasters problems ? Sure after all that, I am sure it can take priority.

codegeek··on Patreon laying off 20% of staff
I never said "minimal severance". I am actually saying that give them a great severance but stop with the other BS about "oh how much we love you".
codegeek··on Patreon laying off 20% of staff
Because it was never about you. They have to fake empathy and provide "explanations" because they think its the "Safer" way. You already know that of course.
codegeek··on Patreon laying off 20% of staff
Because that's the truth and just because you fake empathy, the person getting fired knows what their worth to the company was. Sure there are people who don't prefer to hear the truth but most employees would. In fact, I would go as far as to say that firing someone by accepting the truth is more empathetic than lying to their faces and crying crocodile tears.
codegeek··on Patreon laying off 20% of staff
I am a founder/CEO myself (a very small company so I don't have experience of mass layoffs for full disclosure). However, I don't get this explanation. If you feel genuine responsibility for the people, then figure out a way to NOT fire them. Or be honest and admit that the company needs to make more money/cut costs. Trust me, no one wants to hear "we love you so much but we have to fire you and I feel so bad". It just doesn't land. Be honest, be open and be willing to provide a good severance.
codegeek··on Patreon laying off 20% of staff
"Not having empathy" may have made sense 20-30 years ago when mass layoffs weren't as common as nowadays. Nowadays, everyone knows how it works and how much they really care about the employees. Nothing is worse than someone faking empathy especially CEOs (and I am a small time founder/ceo myself even though of an extremely small company).
codegeek··on Patreon laying off 20% of staff
The only possible positive thing out of this cringy article is that the severance is decent (for a US company). 4 months of pay and healthcare coverage through Year end. Everything else could have just been a couple of sentences.

Companies need to stop doing this melodrama every time they decide to fire people. Everyone knows the goal is to make money and keep a company profitable for their shareholders. Why these melodramatic posts ? People would prefer honesty. Just say "We need to increase our profits or reduce costs or both and hence we have to lay people off. Here is what we are providing as a severance". That's it.
