codeflow2202··on My diet of almost only red meat
I had the same problem a few years back when I tried a vegan diet for a few months. 2 teeth pulled, inflamed gums, plus as a bonus bad acid reflux (the 3 things could be related i guess). Going back to a normal diet made them better but did not fix it completely. A few months back I tried keto which did fix all those problems.
codeflow2202··on My diet of almost only red meat
High LDL is a known consequence of keto on lean people. There are ongoing studies to find out if this is a risk factor for plaque development in otherwise metabolically healthy people. Anyway stopping the diet would normally lower his LDL to his previous levels without the need of going on statins at 23...

As an Italian I can assure you that the "blue zone Sardinians" don't go light on the pork meat, wine and cheese.
codeflow2202··on My diet of almost only red meat
Well there is a few people for whom this diet is having great effects. But there is indeed no science at all to back it up at the moment. But it is surely curious that such a diet which goes against every knowledge we have about diet can work even if just in the short time. 2 examples of dogmas which got debunked: -you need to eat carbs to nourish your brain -you need fruits and veggies to avoid scurvy
codeflow2202··on My diet of almost only red meat
Vegans are thinner and usually malnourished. Meat eaters are usually fatter because they get their meat from mcDonalds. Even a vegan eating chips every day has the potential of becoming obese. You are really just comparing health conscious people to the average person. But if you would instead compare health conscious meat eaters with health conscious vegans you would see that the first group usually does much better.

However your physiology doesn't change in two generations. We can easily adapt our microbiome to get access to new sources of calories. But our erect posture, tool crafting and use abilities, and our guts structure are all evolutions we gained from our hunting/scavenging times. We are what we are because of meat and fat, not green leafy vegetables.
codeflow2202··on My diet of almost only red meat
Where is your first sentence coming from though? Afaik keto works well by stabilizing and lowering insulin release with the effect of minimizing the storage of fat and carb cravings caused by sugar crashes. If you want to you can literally skip a meal without becoming grumpy, lightheaded or ravenous. Also: how can a diet composed of meat, fish, cruciferous and green leafy vegetables, cheese, nuts, berries, fatty fruits like avocado and olives, and healthy oils be one of the least nutritious diets around? A vegan diet is clearly scoring much worse on this topic I'm afraid. To give you an example in this study where different foods are evaluated based on their micronutrient density (in an attempt to combat malnutrition) you'll see that the top foods are all of animal origin: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fnut.2022.80656...

Results: We find that the top sources of priority micronutrients are organs, small fish, dark green leafy vegetables, bivalves, crustaceans, goat, beef, eggs, milk, canned fish with bones, mutton, and lamb. Cheese, goat milk, and pork are also good sources, and to a lesser extent, yogurt, fresh fish, pulses, teff, and canned fish without bones.

codeflow2202··on Boosters customised for Omicron seem to offer little advantage
You are right. The real quote would be: studies suggest that Omicron-specific boosters offer no advantage over a third dose of current vaccines.

The air. Extreme traffic, old people burning wood (or worse) to heat their houses and a lot of polluting industry. Depending on the type of weather most days the air is unbreathable. I'm not saying that WV is worse than the rest of Belgium. This is just the place I'm experiencing.
codeflow2202··on I am the healthiest person I know, and I got cancer
I think that Australia and NZ might be very high because of skin cancers and the infamous ozone hole. India can probably be extremely polluted in the cities but I wonder if it's the same in the country side.

And fair enough, african countries might have undetected cancers and have people die of other disease before getting old enough for cancers. But I was comparing Umbria to Belgian Flanders which are both 1st world countries.

codeflow2202··on I am the healthiest person I know, and I got cancer
Not really. It used to be a mix of seed oils and animal fat. But I don't think that many fries places do still use the animal fat part for "health reasons".
codeflow2202··on I am the healthiest person I know, and I got cancer
Maybe it's the zone? I'm in WV and it feels extremely bad here. One note: my experience is in Umbria, I know that there are some other parts in Italy which are pretty polluted.

By the way I've been wondering the same thing for years now. I don't know why. My hypothesis is pollution since the biggest difference between the 2 zones is the levels of industrialization.

codeflow2202··on I am the healthiest person I know, and I got cancer
I still think it's pollution. There are many other countries with low levels of D which are ranking much better than Belgium https://www.wcrf.org/dietandcancer/global-cancer-data-by-cou...
codeflow2202··on I am the healthiest person I know, and I got cancer
That's indeed the number 1 suspect! All that reused oil everyone is ingurgitating at least once a week XD
codeflow2202··on I am the healthiest person I know, and I got cancer
Well this doesn't mean that you can smoke all day if you move to Umbria and be safe. But what I noticed is that in some places smoking is much riskier than others.

And apparently it's not just a feeling of mine. Belgium is the 6th worst place in the world (just after the USA) for age adjusted cancer rates: https://www.wcrf.org/dietandcancer/global-cancer-data-by-cou...

codeflow2202··on I am the healthiest person I know, and I got cancer
This. I live in Belgium coming from Italy and it's scary how many people I know gets cancer here. Like someone i know every few months gets it (and I'm not talking about just old people. A couple guys i know got it in their 20s). And it's all people relatively healthy.

Compare that to Italy where nobody I know does any effort to be healthy, eats lots of red meat (we do like our pork meat but it's all local stuff), smoke, veggies just a small side dish, no sport at all and they still live longer, healthier lives.

The few people i know who got cancer there, were well over their 60s (and all of them eventually survived). I'm talking about the region Umbria which is pretty pristine and barely industrialized.

This made me realize that the best thing you can do for your health is just picking the right place to live.

codeflow2202··on Travel is no cure for the mind (2018)
I always wondered if our passion for travel has deeper roots. Maybe it comes from our ancestral need to move to greener pastures in search for food and better climate. Sometimes we prefer go for long hikes, some others to stop and chill in enjoyable temperatures, close to water from sea, rivers or lakes. All of this makes me think that deep inside we are at least partially still nomad creatures.
codeflow2202··on Meta threatens to shut down Facebook and Instagram in Europe
I guess this is disputable, but my point would be that the whole model should be taken down, not just its main representative.
codeflow2202··on Meta threatens to shut down Facebook and Instagram in Europe
Right, I would also add that being fine-tuned to manipulate the younger generations is also a big minus.
codeflow2202··on Meta threatens to shut down Facebook and Instagram in Europe
I hate FB as anyone else here, but I'd be worried of whatever will take its place. All this anti Meta sentiment is only helping even worse competitors like Tiktok to grow. And to be fair I have the feeling that this anti FB campaign that has been going on for years is probably well funded and orchestrated by some competing interest.
codeflow2202··on Highly virulent HIV variant found to be circulating in Europe for decades

The only source of their stats is the party. It's part of their politics to downplay the bad and show off the good. They have nothing to gain by showing to their population that they are weak in front of this pandemic.
codeflow2202··on New‐onset autoimmune phenomena post‐Covid‐19 vaccination
Downplay or pretend that side-effects do not exist will only exacerbate the already high distrust on medical institutions. Acknowledgement, sincerity and the will to improve is the only way to fix the huge distrust that has been built in the last couple years (or maybe decades).
codeflow2202··on At SpaceX, I couldn't stop getting sexually harassed
Man, you need to realize this is your own personal view. Most people doesn't find it weird or unethical. And what makes you think that only "mentally healthy individuals" share this world view with you? Your harsh answers make it sound like you are the one with emotional issues.
codeflow2202··on Some states push to ban “discrimination” against unvaccinated people
> And without everyone vaccinating it won't disappear. Either way, good luck

There are big doubts about it.

https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.01.27.20240309v...

Also: many people that look into the data of how therapies are going, have high hopes for Novavax, which seems very promising and works in a more "classic way". Sure some people will never get inoculated with anything but that's a different story.

codeflow2202··on Some states push to ban “discrimination” against unvaccinated people
When did we decide that sharing aljazeera and citing what your friends told you > official data?

I mean, I agree that official data can be forged and should be taken with a grain of salt but come on. You can do better than this.

Also it has been proven that there is a strong inverse correlation between vitamin D levels and covid severity. If we assume that you are right and many more people died in India, how can you prove that it's because the vaccine that in Europe the mortality is so much lower?

Wrong. The study cited in [47] clearly talks about the therapies from AstraZeneca/Oxford, Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech

https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.01.27.20240309v...

codeflow2202··on Some states push to ban “discrimination” against unvaccinated people
Wrong. Definition of immunity: Protection from an infectious disease. If you are immune to a disease, you can be exposed to it without becoming infected.

https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vac-gen/imz-basics.htm

If it prevents infection in 64% of cases it doesn't grant immunity.

codeflow2202··on Some states push to ban “discrimination” against unvaccinated people
In this context, vaccines that do not provide sterilizing immunity (and therefore continue to permit transmission) will lead to the buildup of large standing populations of virus [47], greatly increasing the risk of immune escape

And this sentence is from the study. A study about Covid "vaccines". Not me.

codeflow2202··on Some states push to ban “discrimination” against unvaccinated people
Wrong. Again: Pfizer's chief scientific officer, Mikael Dolsten, said the recently reported dip in the vaccine's effectiveness in Israel was mostly due to infections in people who had been vaccinated in January or February. The country's health ministry said vaccine effectiveness in preventing both infection and symptomatic disease fell to 64% in June.

95% is based on faulty/old data.
