'#id .className': do ->
is preferable to: #id .className {
Also, the fact that this looks like CoffeeScript could really confuse people who see this code in a project and assume it compiles to JS.IMHO If you're after more from your CSS, just use Sass (or LESS if you don't want the Ruby dependancy).
Actually, the default Wordpress theme this article's author is using is a responsive theme, and, in my opinion a well-designed one—an opinion which is further backed up by a later comment by the author:
> My iPhone does an okay job at scaling down this site without responsive wankery...
Responsive design is at it's finest when you don't even notice :)
"takes several clicks on parts of the screen that are nowhere near each other and are not immediately obvious the first time you see them".
... and that this process requires the user to:
"click the “Ubuntu” button in the top left, then click the little white icon on the bottom center that is, I assume, representative of “a comb, a pencil and a building with pacman on it”. Then you expand the “Installed” section by clicking on the left/center of the screen. Then you click on “Filter Results” in the top right."
Doesn't like like a great thing to use at all to me.
"Working with Ubuntu 12.04 is quite simple and elegant… until you want to sit down and see what applications are available on your system."
Which sounds like it really doesn't blow anything out of the water. Then I also read:
"click the “Ubuntu” button in the top left, then click the little white icon on the bottom center that is, I assume, representative of “a comb, a pencil and a building with pacman on it”. Then you expand the “Installed” section by clicking on the left/center of the screen. Then you click on “Filter Results” in the top right."
WAT? That's the complete opposite of a well-thought-out experience for the user.
So why is it that this GUI environment is superior again?
I hope it doesn't cause as much damage as the one in 2004!
Tell me, in simple terms, what problem you solve for me.
Microsoft sure do have their work cut out for them!
Also, I get IE9, not IE6.
1. Using Camel Case For Every Single Word Makes It Feel Like An Seo Marketing Ploy.
2. At the bottom: "This Article Originally Came From The Internet".
WAT?
... for the sake of preserving the status quo of default scrollbars, no less?
Come on.
I've taken to deliberately going to the second and third comments in a thread before I decide to continue reading or not. I'd read much less if I didn't.
