cm127··on JavaScript has beguiled the current generation of software developers
This article is over five years late. Get over it: JavaScript is a usable language.

cm127··on Amazon Can Now Test Its Delivery Drones in the U.S
I agree, but how do you reach that point? Automating a steady income is a lot of work, and the goal is to just give it away? I don't see that happening anytime soon.
cm127··on The F-35's $400k helmet
You can tell yourself we fight for honor or pride or all that bullshit, but it's always been about money. The question before going into war has always been: how many lives is it worth? i.e. what's the profit?
cm127··on The F-35's $400k helmet
Not really. Without such technology, war wouldn't be profitable. Without the profits, there would be no incentive to fight.

But as long as we carry the bigger gun, we'll always have an incentive to fight.

cm127··on [dead]
I'm not even going to try to defend her actions, but I think you might be underestimating the power of going on and off antidepressants on top of graduate school at Stanford.
cm127··on Why are interest rates so low?
That's a trite comparison. Why not include pollution and global warming?
cm127··on Two Federal Agents in Silk Road Case Face Fraud Charges
This is something I'm still wrapping my head around because I've read that Bitcoin tumblers are effective. But it's like you said: all transactions are public.
cm127··on TPP leak: states give companies the right to repeal nations' laws
Honest question: do you think Obama is writing the agreement himself, or do you think he lacks political power to stop international corporations from making these deals, or do you think he just doesn't care?
cm127··on How Robots and Algorithms Are Taking Over
Your comment is a mess. Most of your "criticisms" seem to follow the logic that if you haven't personally seen it before, it doesn't exist.
cm127··on The birth of Microsoft's new web rendering engine
I wasn't aware of this. Source? Coincidentally, I'm not seeing results when I Google: google sabotage java.
cm127··on Not Dead Yet: How Some Video Stores Are Thriving
Reminds me of I Luv Video when I lived in Austin, TX. That place was the ultimate hangout. All movies have little reviews written on the case by the staff. Some movies are organized by director. Free beer on Tuesdays. It mocked every Blockbuster and Hollywood Video that popped up and disappeared over the years.

Yeah, and don't forget to sum it all up and divide it by the number of samples.
cm127··on Microsoft’s ‘RoomAlive’ transforms any room into a giant Xbox game
Even more distracting than the shadows would be the fixed perspective. Unless you include some form of head tracking, the immersion will never feel real. Unfortunately, it'll limit one person per room.

Classic example of head tracking: http://youtu.be/Jd3-eiid-Uw

cm127··on Amazon releases new Kindle products
Depends on the book. The Kindle isn't great at pictures, graphs, or complex diagrams, and examples with code might lose formatting via smaller dimensions.

However, it's still convenient to not have to lug around a giant text book to read somewhere - any of them. Having a Kindle is like having your entire library with you at all times.

cm127··on White House Names Google’s Megan Smith the Next CTO of the US
I thought "chick" was the female version of "dude". I guess it could be "dudette" but that just seems dumb.
cm127··on Uber's playbook for sabotaging Lyft
I guess I should say that the growth of bars seem to be exceeding the growth of parking lots. Does that mean more people are carpooling or taking cabs? Maybe. But it could also mean Uber has an effect.
cm127··on Uber's playbook for sabotaging Lyft
It'll mean less bars. More bars have opened than closed since Uber has been around.
cm127··on Linux-on-the-desktop pioneer Munich now considering a switch back to Windows
I'm kind of surprised that they're getting push-back for Microsoft after the whole NSA thing last year. I know it's unfair to blame the company for any of it, but it's still a US company that has to follow US law.
cm127··on Entropy
Seems like a Monte Carlo simulation for adding noise to any Javascript variable. It'd be cool if you could apply filters to the noises.
cm127··on The Future of College
The key to success is to patent as much technology at the start of an industry revolution and use as many lawyers as possible to sue all competitors out of the field.
cm127··on Friendship Paradox
But that's the point... It's a continuous distribution meaning you probably fluctuate between introvert and extravert very smoothly with most of the population within the standard deviation. There will probably always be people that stay at the tail ends, but it's not average.
cm127··on JSON Resume – a JSON-based open source standard for resumes
Same here. My resume is a text file in markdown. Bullets, titles and subtitles are all you need for a simple, easy to read resume.
cm127··on Why I can’t stop using Vim
First you'll learn how to orientate around text quickly using normal mode, then you'll start playing with tabs, splits and buffers to search between multiple files, and then you'll start using registers to save phrases and regular expressions to search directories. At that point you'll never want to leave Vim again.

cm127··on Just press go: designing a self-driving vehicle
I think you're both right. It'll probably be fixed into the price, and they'll probably just lease them to avoid legacy issues.
cm127··on Just press go: designing a self-driving vehicle
Technically, our current cab drivers could do the same thing.
cm127··on Did You Say “Intellectual Property”? It's a Seductive Mirage
You did miss the point. Read the article. It's about how all IP is not the same because they originated from different places and they do different things. For example, software uses patents. That's not just a niche, that's an entire category of IP. Copyright is also an entire category that artists use to "protect" their work. But what kind of protection? It's different between patent and copyright, so just saying I have IP rights, is as vague as you can possible be because you don't have them all - just some.
cm127··on Did You Say “Intellectual Property”? It's a Seductive Mirage
You missed the entire point. Software uses patents, so people literally can't imitate others' works like some artists do. And that's the problem with over-generalization: it's a useless abstraction that doesn't generalize well.
