I've been a freelance web dev/consultant for the past 10 years. Like some other people mentioned, been wanting to have my own product so I started developing a Azure B2C app to help organizations manage users. It's very very niche but solves a problem that I've run into multiple times.

My goal is to continue consulting while releasing my side project.

Streaming flight data from the FAA. I'm building a system to ingest data from the FAA SWIM system to build a real-time flight board for airports in the United States. I'm learning how to manage high traffic data via a JMS program.

Had a case of this burnout about ten years ago. I quit software and started a t-shirt company. Like others are mentioning, it was totally different and contained a lot of manual labor. It felt good and when the time was right to come back to software I came back as a freelancer with a fresh and entirely new outlook on coding for a living.

Maybe this is my years of experience talking, but curious if anyone else sees a connection between a slow delivery (aka slower development time) and less bugs? The idea is that developers have more time to think about the solution, write better code and overall not feel so rushed just to get something out the door. In my experience, the more pressure put on developers to get the thing done, the more bugs are introduced.

What are your options for local Meetups? The tech focused Meetups in my area have a good turn out of people with a wide variety of experience. You have a good chance of meeting people who are approximately same age and experience level as you.
