it swings back when we invent new protocols - which is to say it never swings back. From traditional publishing to radio to tv to the internet to gentrification once the bastards get control you gotta make the next thing.
I use chemical imbalance as a convenient terms for friends to explain that there is nothing they can really 'do' at the time in that particular expression of symptoms. "It's Chemical" is something they can understand.
This is so obviously true and the higher the number of people questioning it here == the rate at which I devalue hacker news. Outside of specific extenuating circumstances to not have this perspective is either devil's advocacy, ignorance, fear in a way that suggests therapy. If you can't feel safe without hundreds of thousands of dollars in passive income that is a you problem not a world problem.
do it keep it up dont quit, he should have made them fire him for his activism rather than walk away. mad respect to him but there are better ways to go.
I assume that the culture of employee activism or at least advocacy being encouraged and fostered by internal systems of communication was probably part of the selling point for a lot of people to begin with. I agree with your premise though - Google established a different kind of relationship when they did the brainwashing/cultural indoctrination. This is the kind of genie that gets let out of a bottle when you do that and then you change up your culture after the fact.
This reminds me of the question - if you feel guilty for doing a terrible thing, is it somehow more forgivable? If it isn't, why are we so horrified when someone does a terrible thing and doesn't feel guilty later?
Oh, I guess since I was interacting with a bot in a chat I got confused. So in this case I guess it's just kids continuing their time honored tradition of mirc style bots...
The people that I know that heavily use chatbots are teens on discord and they use them a lot. They are more versatile than the old bots on irc, use them to play games, stream audio, images, access wikipedia... one bot we use actively translates between different languages across different channels. And they are popular! I think this is a case where the media sees possibility but adoption takes time.
Does anyone know any other apps that have done similar things? Gamification really pays off for me - but I have no interest in Twilio hehe. I'm familiar with habitica, not what I'm looking for
I dunno I hate banks but when I worked for one I worked for a black woman who worked under a black gay man who worked under another woman and at that level she had 9 call centers under her and gave birth on a conference call. This really isn't their weak point.
Really don't appreciate trash like 'how such a terrible comment made its way to the top'. I actually think this comment reads like a paid account. This kind of attitude is more fitting for 4chan or reddit on a bad day. the 'terrible comment made its way to the top' because people identified with it. Obviously.
