classicsnoot··on China Uighurs: Xinjiang 'legalises' Muslim internment camps
To your first rebuttal: you say white genocide is a conspiracy theory, which is an interesting point to make given the charge you make in your 5th paragraph. Your shrill tenor leaves me with the impression that you are shooting from the hip because you are excited about an opportunity to "bash the fasc." I humbly suggest you supress this urge if only for tactical expediency. It feels like you are implying that whites cannot be the recipients of genocide (which is false both logically and historically), but more frustrating is you are denying an active genocide (per the UN definition) in South Africa.

Your second rebuttal sidesteps the objective fact that suppressed minorities do not commit genocide when it comes to "the record" (Indigenous populations of North America are a great example, but their are many more). You are projecting upon me the guilt you feel for a history you choose to interpret. It is morally questionable and academically dishonest to blame color groups en masse for any action. Whites are not responsible for Hitler just as blacks are not responsible for the Rwanda genocide. Only people shoehorning history into a political narrative find utility in racinated guilt complexes.

Your third paragraph exposes just how little of my OP you comprehended before both making sweeping judgements as well as making the effort to explain what I am to a third party. If you are marshalling forces, economic or strategic, it always pays to know who stands with or against your enemy/foe. This is such a simple concept that to break it down further would be insulting to both of us.

The fourth paragraph is titillating. I get the feeling you are suggesting there is anything like parity between the funding on the Left and the Right in the US which is preposterous. There are many examples, but the Arizona Senate race is a good one(Sinema vs. McSally). To your scare quotes, I love this kind of bait: as if somehow pointing out that the US's most politically active, wealthiest subgroup with the highest IQ is engaged, wealthy and smart is antisemitism. More to the point, both sides (all sides) engage in political theater in a democracy; when your side does it is necessary and when your foe does it isn't. Our democracy is pay to play (all democracies are, really) and I do not begrudge the Left's playing, though it is comical just how wealthy the "party of the people" is.

Fifth statement: as a historian, this is the worst. Look up the etymology of the term holocaust. The idea that the Jewish genocide was the first (or worst) is incredibly disrespectful as well as dishonest. Genocide does occur, has occurred, and will continue to ocur.

The post was a very dark satire about how futile it is in this era (or any, really) to think we can respect sovereignty and fulfill R2P. Each Step was pulled from a real world incident, and the only one referencing the Jews/Israelis specifically was the one about deluging the UN with motions, which has been done to them by the real Holocaust deniers. I can go point by point, but I'm out of space here. Lmk booboo.

I think you could have put more emotional pejoratives in there, and your lack of effort shows that you probably don't have enough faith in the cause.

Each of those steps is pulled from actual efforts and initiatives to forestall genocide, non of which has worked. When a world power decides to liquidate a percentage of its population, all that can be done is reactionary in nature; to get involved prior to is to initiate the violence and thereby vindicate the genocidaires.

I know you aren't going to argue in good faith. I know responding to your charge is futile. But your petty name calling triggered me, I guess.

Spiraling comment threads create an opportunity for an expansive discourse with multiple potential paths. Given that a rule violation wasn't cited as well as the fact that the whole chain has been flagged and dead'd, i have to wonder why someone of your renown saw fit to contribute to what you described as a tangential discussion. The political downvoting was enough to earmark the discussion as wrongthink. Please don't get me banned for questioning your motives; it is a dead chain anyways.

To be clear, it is not HN that is the issue, it is the subject of HBD. There are many examples of this discussion drawing in folks whose main mission is astroturfing, gaslighting, FUD, and race hate. Looking at the link another poster added should show you just how easy it is to color perspective and change the nature of the discussion.

The sad part is that while HBD is a magnet for extremist internet warriors on any given side of any given issue, there is a very real issue concerning the capacity of the human mind. While very intelligent, economically well off people debate whether IQ is a fair way to measure, low capability people* are force fed a doctrine that says a college degree is the only path to happiness. While we talk about equity and fairness, people who would be better off as apprentices are accruing massive debt as bad students. And the worst, IMO: while we debate racial incarceration data, whole communities are being torn out in the middle by obtuse welfare programs, inscrutable methodology, and despicable political posturing.

As i said before, IANAB, but i cannot shake the feeling that a one-size-fits-all approach to intellectual acumen and cognitive capability is relegating huge portions of society to debt prison while simultaneously stunting scientific, technological, and sociological progress. It is more than a bit frustrating.

*low should be read as "short list of," and is in no way intended as a value judgement.

classicsnoot··on Hajnal line
HBDchick is an advocate of Human BioDiversity theory, which, very simply, states that the distances between various populations of humans over time have lead to statistically relevant and measurable differences in both mind _and_ body (this is the crux of the issue). While this is intuitive within the whole of mammalian evolutionary biology, there are some very sensitive conclusions that any party could arrive at if one accepts that different groups of humans have evolved different traits that reflect both strengths and weaknesses in modern society. She is not alone in this assertion, but the status quo of politically motivated science has tacitly decided that exclusion and censorship are the best response to an admittedly uncomfortable possible interpretation of reality. There is a huge amount of reading on the topic, but i refuse to use throwaways and i do not want to be banned so feel free to DM me if you'd like to know more. IANAB.

classicsnoot··on Mysterious great white shark lair discovered in Pacific Ocean
This is a persistent problem in the world of journalism, one that is rarely, if ever, addressed, that being the spreading of sensitive information that can lead to the detriment of the main subject of the article. Whether it is shark territory, secret military bases, or archaic socio-cultural enclaves, these pieces have the potential to disrupt them. For intel black sites, most people applaud the effect. For Yazidis and sharks, not so much.

At what point does it become unethical for attention hungry journalists to expose things like Sharklandia?

Because one gains more from any experience wherein something in the way of effort is demanded. A beautiful vista is more sweet when it takes effort to get to it. A relationship with a person is more fulfilling when trials and tribulations are overcome together. Hard won knowledge imparts a deeper wisdom when it is obtained in spite of difficulties. You would like to believe your child understands concepts from videos because it makes you feel good, but I doubt you are going to have him build your deck. Intentional effort is a prerequisite for deeper fulfilment. While there are things that are better demonstrated via flashing images, there is no substitute for the cognitive effort required to read deeply on a subject, or follow a rich and complex narrative.

classicsnoot··on In Denmark, Harsh New Laws for Immigrant ‘Ghettos’
I posted that comment to be snarky, but your earnest response has compelled me to elaborate on the motivation behind the crassness.

I imagine any Dane in Lebanon is doing quite well because, barring the exceedingly unlikely but not impossible chance of human trafficking, Danes in the Levant are there by choice and persons of considerable means (or privileged volunteers subjecting themselves to unnecessary hardship for a plethora of potential reasons). Denmark hasn't experienced a war since 1945 and hasn't had a home front war since ~1860. They don't generate refugees, and by and large neither do their neighbors. This is not magic. This is not a product of colonialism, or racism, or slavery. This is because certain cultures made a concerted effort to stop repeating a cycle and chose to operate differently. Having the means to do this was a lucky break in history (Nazis loved the Danes but the Danes never publicly reciprocated so they got all that sweet Marshall Plan cash) as well as some incredibly forward thinking and talented people who wanted their ethnostate to be happy, healthy, and productive. The last place Europe sent a bunch of refugees (outside of Europa) was Palestine. This led directly to a diaspora of Arabs and others out of the Levant. Guilt opened Europe's borders, foolishness propped the door open, and cognitive dissonance will claim it is the right thing to do. Denmark, or any country, that attempts to transfer culture through enforced education (as opposed to child rearing, intermarriage, social pressure, or the quite effective but completely contemptible method of attempted genocide) is doomed to fail. It is just a matter of time.

The author of the article tried very hard to paint the immigrants as hapless victims with a sthole on one side and stty people on the other, a poor young mother desperate to be accepted by the country she wishes to be a part of. And this may be true for her. It could be true for many of the immigrants in Europe currently. But history is very clear about what mass migration does to native populations, regardless of the initial power dynamic between immigrant and native, nevermind the motivation for immigration (European immigrants to North America were fleeing widespread violence, scant economic opportunity, and oppressive religious suppression as well). Color, Creed, and chronology are irrelevant. The advantage lies with the more aggressive in almost all conflicts, regardless of whether or not each participant acknowledges that the fight is occurring.

classicsnoot··on In Denmark, Harsh New Laws for Immigrant ‘Ghettos’
And yet you decided not to list any of those countries and instead called the poster racist. I'm not saying you are wrong about there being some definite examples that support your position, but do you think there may also be some counter examples that go against it? Which side, your argument or the opposite, has the preponderance of evidence? This is how an honest and productive argument should proceed: assertion(s) is made, rebuttal is introduced with supporting evidence, back and forth commences until no new evidence can be introduced, contenders stop posting, posterity decides. But that is too dangerous, isn't it? There is always the chance that the unthinkable might just end up being the most plausible. And whenever the status quo is predicated on perfection of specific perception there is no benefit to be gained by entertaining forbidden notions. Because you declined to suppor your own argument coupled with the personal attack ("racist" should be a technical description but thanks to comments like yours that ship has sailed), you have surrendered any technical moral high ground for a breastworks of Virtue Signaling that seems tactically sound at the moment. Pray to the gods you may have abandoned that your enemy doesn't discover ideological "tracked vehicles" before your team does.

classicsnoot··on Researchers find IQ scores dropping since the 1970s
Why is every post asking questions WRT the effects of gender and migration being caveated so dramatically? It would appear people are afraid to even ask about what seem to be obvious relevant factors. There are noticable differences in the IQ averages between gender groups as well as origin, but the plasticity of IQ has also been established. The fear of reprisal and condemnation for wrongthink is starting to resemble Puritan New England. I sincerely hope we don't start burning witches...

Without taking any sides in this particular case, i highly recommend everyone read Intellectuals and Race[1] by Thomas Sowell. It is a concise, well researched, and largely damning look at how the same intellectual class that is leading the charge of globalized western morality (particularly in regards to enforced diversity, ethnic erasure, race based policies, and identity/victimhood politics) is cut from the very same cloth of their predecessors in the early 20th century (the Progressives) who championed Social Darwinism, racial segregation, and eugenics. He draws many parallels between the two groups, including but not limited to the perceived unanimity of thought amongst the "greatest, leading minds," the utter incomprehensibility by the status quo to even consider dissenting ideas, the ostensible moral superiority, and the faith based reliance upon unproven assertions. It is a brief and powerful read. Regardless of one's politics, Sowell forces the reader to honestly confront preconceived notions not with emotional exhortation, but rather hard facts and verifiable data.

There is no national government that does not A) act in its own self/best interest and B) does so with the express approval of all of its citizens. The fact that you decide to blame the population of an entire nation (who are largely ignorant of global affairs as well as having no stake/vested interest in big money deals between nationstates) is indicative of your knowledge base on the subject. The game of wealth has been going on for much longer than Thirdworldism (1970s), Dependency Theory (1960s), Globalism (1940s), Socialism (~1850s), or even Capitalism (1700s).* Resource exchange and the wealth derived from it are hallmarks of pastoral societies, potentially even out dating currency exchange given the obvious value raw material plays in terms of power. What may be considered unique to the late stage Holocene is the domination of raw material exchange by Western Societies, but only in terms of its global scale. The Chinese (there are many empires that can be called this but i hope you can suss that out for yourself) knew the value of spices and precious metals even as Europeans were trying to figure out why the Saracens lived longer and better despite being "satan worshipers." Global mass transfer is what cemented the Western ascendancy on the globe. But the idea that this ascendancy was appropriated from others is a bridge too far (unless one is making an emotional or faith based argument) given the destruction the West wrought on itself, as well as the fact that every single Western Empire did substantially better economically once shorn of their colonial possessions. What is more, non colonial nations like Sweden and Switzerland are demonstrably wealthier than the original western colonialists Spain and Portugal. This, in my as well as far more notable historian's opinions, is due to culture and governance. This can be seen in the staggering achievements of the East Asian tiger economies vs. the abject shitholes of sub-Saharan Africa. The tigers were resource poor, xenophobic, and overpopulated. the -holes were resource rich, comparatively open, and underpopulated. Yet somehow, East Asia is opulently wealthy and powerful while sS Africa can barley keep the lights on. It would be foolish to claim that there were no outside influences in either case, but to blame the disparate outcomes on a single nation is not only unhelpful to solving the problem, it is deleterious. One can always make a "lead by example" argument, but that is just a transposed American Exceptionalism argument which is silly. I'd be interested in any reading you could point me to on this subject, assuming you've actually done any. My sources are all antiquated paper media, but i will give you a truncated reading list should you defy my expectations. More your speed might be the doc Empire of Dust as a point of departure. Nonetheless... "Western Guilt&Third World Poverty" Bauer,"Dont Decry Colonialism" Drake, "Decolonization" Fieldhouse, "The Middle East: Geostrategy and Oil" Khalidi and many, many more.

They were (probably are) and they did. One becomes smarter and more effective through learning and application, not whining and recrimination. S. Korea was demonstrably worse off than Ethiopia as well as many other sub-Saharan countries in the 1950s and look at them now. Did they achieve this through colonization, exploitation, and slavery?
