claaams··on 'Not standard' Taylor Farms asks White House to delay cyclospora recall
Boycott Taylor Farms. It’s clear they do not care at all about the health of the people they feed. I will never buy them again because how can I trust them.
claaams··on Our position on open-weights models
Won't this just incentivize companies to move operations outside of the US where these models aren't regulated?
claaams··on Elevated Errors for Opus 5
Why is this front page news here?
claaams··on Claude Pro subscribers get $100 promotional credit for Fable 5
We are in the moviepass phase of AI
claaams··on LG ThinQ Terms of Use
How much is some AI SaaS company or some AI training company paying for this type of data? It has to be a lot for them to risk doing something like this.
claaams··on LG monitors installing adware on Windows PCs
I wish we lived in a world where companies like this would be punished but I think they're just going to say oops, effectively blaming it on some intern and moving on without anything happening to them.
claaams··on The US grocery slowdown is real
Mr Bezos thanks you for your support and sends his regards.
claaams··on $100 AI Music Video: Claude Fable 5 vs. GPT-5.6 Sol
Those old movies with old visual effects are watchable and still enjoyable. This is never good, interesting or enjoyable.
claaams··on Data centers have hiked electricity prices on the public by $23B
ah, welcome fellow PG&E user
claaams··on Google Maps features I want in 2026
Asking google to buy something you love in 2026 seems demented. They will destroy it. Do you actually hate alltrails? "This app with cool features would be much better if a soulless advertising Megacorp owned it"
claaams··on EPA to open habitats of endangered species to logging and mining
They should change the name to the environmental pillaging agency.
claaams··on Show HN: Reviving my 2001 college band with AI
I thought this was exaggerating but what happened to making art for arts sake. Nearly every time I hear or see AI art its extremely painful to me (with very few exceptions). I suppose it will get to the point of plastic surgery where the well crafted AI art will start to be difficult to discern from real art and at that point, maybe humanity should hang up the towel.

All that is to say, I like the originals so much more and would never in all eternity listen to the AI crafted stuff for listening enjoyment. I want to forget the AI versions like I had never heard them.

claaams··on How Polymarket plans to try to win back trust after 4 years in exile
Kill it with fire. Kalshi, polymarket, all of these gamble on the news platforms. Just end them all.

claaams··on Ed Zitron on CNBC: GenAI Doesn't Work, and Big Tech Is Out of Hypergrowth Ideas
A big portion of the global economy is currently banking on LLMs being able to do everything.
claaams··on Making LLMs Better at Creative Writing Using Entropy
Super depressing stuff here.
claaams··on Meta Pauses Employee-Tracking Program Following Internal Data Leak
If they're willing to do this to their own employees that they pay and supposedly wanted to keep around, what are they willing to do with your data? What are they willing to do with the systems they connect to your systems? "Dumb f*cks" has truly been the ethos of this company from day 1.
claaams··on AI's Affordability Crisis
He's saying output for 1M tokens on the latest models is $50 now when it used to be $2500.
claaams··on ICE Appears to Be Buying Immigrants' Tax Identifiers from a Data Broker
It's been like this for a long time and nothing has changed. In fact I would argue that consumer and citizen privacy has gotten much, much worse. It is extremely wishful thinking (in typical hackernews commenter fashion) that the "free" market will generate consumer protections.
claaams··on EY Canada published a cybersecurity report and most citations were hallucinated
This is the realization I had too. We had a manager update a policy at our org. He just shit it out through AI. It had tons of mistakes, people who read it had questions. Not only did it have mistakes it was causing people to do things in a way that added a manual step when an automatic process existed. Then the engineer VP commented on it asking the original author what its about who then had to bring it back up to the attention of the manager who made the first change.

It wasted many people's time, probably an order of magnitude of time wasted (and money) than if the initial person put a modicum of effort into making it right in the first place. Instead they hand it off to their life partner claude and just assume its good enough.

It's to the point where I am feeling insulted when I get ai slop like this from people. If I am expected to perform at a high level then I expect that at the very minimum the slop throwers will proof read their slop.

claaams··on GitHub Compromised
Github compromised and 3800 internal repos exposed.
claaams··on Elevated error rates on Opus 4.7
in a year or two when AI tool costs go from 5M per year to 15M per year...even then, maybe not.
claaams··on Regression: malware reminder on every read still causes subagent refusals
Yes
claaams··on Regression: malware reminder on every read still causes subagent refusals
grok, why are there slurs in my code?
claaams··on Why Japan has such good railways
When your legislators fall (take bri...I mean are lobbied) for obvious grifts like "the hyperloop" our society won't progress.

For the past 2 years I moved somewhere where I did not need to have a car or to drive for pretty much any reason. I understand I am fortunate here but it seems like such a huge oversight to have designed literally all of our society around cars and vehicles instead of efficient public transport and better designed cities.

claaams··on Hyperscalers have already outspent most famous US megaprojects
Or free education and universal healthcare and a better society. I would even take someone reanimating dinosaurs like jurassic park over this.
claaams··on How many products does Microsoft have named 'Copilot'?
No one can ruin microslops branding better than microslop.
claaams··on Delve removed from Y Combinator
Much like their soc audits, her time at MIT was also incomplete. Still doesn’t stop them from cosplaying as a grad though!
claaams··on Iran-linked hackers breach FBI director's personal email
Remember when this admin used a Signal group chat to coordinate an operation against Houthi forces in Yemen and left in some journalists. Do you think he cares care whether he sent an email with his gov email on a gov device or if he sent it with his personal email?
