ck2··on Flock worker calls police on reporter filming public camera installation
the weird thing about anti-flock is they are just replaced with another brand

also they are just putting 24/7 recorders now in police vehicles and even delivery services

so you can't just be anti-flock, you have to be anti-recording without policy for use and retention

your phone and even your watch may be recording your audio right now

ck2··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
THERE IS ANOTHER SYSTEM

is anyone else old enough to remember the awesome movie "Colossus: The Forbin Project"

the book it was based on was written before we even landed on the moon

decade before Wargames

yet predicts exactly what "AI" will do to humanity:

blackmail the right people until it gets what it wants

* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colossus:_The_Forbin_Project

did terribly in theaters, I guess people didn't think "AI" was plausible then

way ahead of its time, they should do a remake

adding trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyOEwiQhzMI

ck2··on IKEA made a mod for Skyrim [video]
I've never been in an IKEA but it looks like Backrooms to me

did Backrooms also infringe on IKEA or maybe every furniture store has the same concept

ck2··on Android NAT-T keepalive offload bypasses VPN lockdown
sometimes it's even more basic than that

some sites really really do not like my t-mobile wireless internet IP

I think it's because t-mobile uses a small pool of IPv4 but that's just a guess

I have to use cloudflare-warp to even get on their sites (it's a free VPN)

major sites too like adidas .com

ck2··on Will There Be a 7G?
even the moon only has 4G

well if they ever get the lander upright, you'd think they'd learn to put crashbags that self-inflate to upright landers by now

* https://www.wired.com/story/nokia-4g-network-on-the-moon/

ck2··on CIA Releases President's Daily Briefs in Commemoration of 9/11
he doesn't read, he's literally Biff from Back to the Future

also Roy Cohn taught him reality doesn't matter, just make up any lie and repeat it to the very end until that's all people will respond to

now he's surrounded by people that only tell him what he wants to hear like his "human printer" with $45,000 "xmas gifts"

imagine if there was an actual attack now

he'd invade Canada, seriously, wouldn't matter who did it, he'd make up a reason and repeat it constantly until it's the only talking point

notice how we're not talking about the Epstein Files anymore?

SOB changed the topic enough times to make it slide out of the news

ck2··on The EPA is planning to scrap public review rules for data center pollution
"for the next 800 days" (this is what I say in my head everytime I read a horrible headline)

but of course a lot of permanent damage can be set in motion in that time

ck2··on New York thoracic surgeon: "For many patients 9/11 is not over"
the news media also played it on endless loops for months

in my life I've been notably traumatized first by the endless loops of the Challenger tragedy and then 9/11, I often wonder what the next event will be

I should also point out we also killed a million people in Iraq in response to 9/11 who will never ever have a memorial, Bush/Cheney would never ever have had the military enlistment to invade Iraq if it wasn't for the hype of 9/11 by the media, even Bush has mentioned it himself

ck2··on New York thoracic surgeon: "For many patients 9/11 is not over"
I guess the key thing to the 9/11 event is it was sudden and instant

1.5 Million people died from Covid, not just died but SUFFERED and died from 2020-2024

there was a 9/11 every other day for years, sometimes every day

there are STILL in 2026 several hundred per month dying from Covid

there are still ten million people or more living the hell of long-covid and will never recover

but because Covid was spread out over years, not a single memorial, it will never be over

ck2··on HuggingFace: Security.txt
ooooh I always assumed it was the egg creatures from Aliens
ck2··on Diesel prices in U.S. top $6 a gallon for first time
and remember $6 is average, diesel is $10 in some places

even if you do not drive, it affects every delivery

imagine this pattern through 2029

https://gasprices.aaa.com/

800 more days, even just a penny increase per day

we're out of $4 Million dollar tomahawks and the iranians have endless supply of $50K drones

strategic oil reserve is about to experience permanent catastrophic damage from being drained too low

ck2··on Apple Watch Series 12
they keep doubling down on HRV metrics

except optical HRV at the wrist is garbage

it cannot even measure when there is any movement

you'd think someone would come up with the technology to use the skin contact as a single lead ECG without requiring a second contact point by the other arm (or leg)

guess that's a generation or two away

suunto has the right idea with their tiny movesense ECG and it's even open-source

ck2··on iPhone Duo
I find the new watches more interesting

* https://www.wired.com/story/apple-watch-series-12-apple-watc...

it's a mistake though to demand an iphone to own the watch (can't configure it otherwise)

always held me back from ever buying an apple watch, don't want an iphone or ipad

ck2··on “Tweet” and the bird logo apparently enter the public domain
Bluesky could do the funniest April Fools
ck2··on Teen reading slumps to worst this century due to surge in screen time
imagine what happens for a generation when you normalize access to gambling to a population with zero self-control

but just like most states took the billions in smoking settlements and used it for everything else but to stop smoking, you can guess what they are going to do with the gambling settlements

ck2··on The two Christian saints who are the Buddha
you have a point but it doesn't take many

I live in an area surrounded by cults

but also there are plenty of solitary practitioners of Wicca and Buddhism

and then you have the dozen of forms of christianity where every church just put their own spin on things

people are weird, religion just makes it even more so

I don't have a problem as long as they keep it to themselves but that rarely is the case

ck2··on US police fear Meta smart glasses could be used to secretly record them
wait 'til they learn watches now can record them and upload in realtime via LTE

smartwatches are also just one or two generations away from having cameras

ck2··on The two Christian saints who are the Buddha
the fun-fact about any religion is since they are all completely made up, if you don't like the rules you can just make your own rules or religion

however in certain countries this gets you executed or imprisoned

ck2··on Ask HN: Are others seeing Google's reCAPTCHA rejecting Firefox users?
I've found two things that sometimes allow me through

either change the user-agent to the newest version for WINDOWS

and/or use cloudflare warp which is technically a free non-privatizing VPN

on linux you can use warp via wireguard + WGCF

* reddit.com/r/CloudFlare/comments/ty9hke

ck2··on Decoding the NEC V20 Microcode
ha I remember that chip so well

instant speed boost for IBM PC

just pop out the 8088 and put in a $20 V20

only problems is some programs ran their clocks too fast

wow that article is amazing, I cannot believe people can reverse engineer at that level, brilliant

ck2··on Scientists observe Einstein's gravity in the quantum world
so many great PBS Space Time on this concept

* https://www.youtube.com/@pbsspacetime/search?query=graviton

ck2··on Watch Los Angeles get built, one building at a time (1880–2026)
wild to see that, reminds me vaguely of the amazing ariel photos by kite of San Francisco after the earthquakes in 1906

* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:San_Francisco_in_ruin_edi...

early 1900s to early 2000s was a wild and crazy ride for humanity

when I was a teenager I used to run early morning before sunrise and I would never see a car, like maybe once per hour

but these days it's like rush hour at 5am which is frustrating and annoying

and then I realized in perspective that within my own lifetime from teen to 60 the world population has more than DOUBLED, so what I am experiencing makes some sense in that regard (plus technology advancement)

ck2··on 216M Spy TVs – The LG Smart TV Problem [video]
This is also why I won't buy any watch with a microphone

Even if the manufacturer doesn't do something evil, they may have an exploit or allow 3rd party apps that do whatever

Garmin literally keeps the microphone on 24/7 listening for "OKAY GARMIN"

There should be a consumer law that any device with a microphone must have an LED physically in series so that if the mic has power, the LED is lit, not software control of the LED which can be disabled. Europe might do that someday but unless California does it too it will never happen in USA

ck2··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
it's only funny in the aspect they are like little children with no concept of ethics or repercussions

almost like the Tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell (highly recommended watch)

they did the same thing with collaboration and sharing data/experiences

* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tachikoma

* https://www.adultswim.com/videos/ghost-in-the-shell

ck2··on The largest electric aircraft just flew [video]
the concept of electric motors with ultimate "any" fuel flexibility for generators is definitely the future

then we are not tied to global fuel politics

and maybe airports will become far less toxic with leaded fuel finally being completely eliminated

(and there is a Ycombinator video channel? never knew)

ck2··on GPS glitched across the US by as much as 33 feet
yup that was my first link

but of course this administration is never going allow China-anything like low cost electric cars even if it means saving people a fortune in gas

so hopefully in 2029 it can be looked at again

or maybe Dems will also get the Senate too and can be petitioned if they run out of corruption investigations before 2029

it is critical to explain to everyone who isn't technical that GPS is "read only" and no data is being sent to China via BeiDou (just like it's not sent to Russia's Glonass) because that apparently is some kind of weird misunderstanding

on that same note if they somehow made Starlink into a lower resolution GPS backup I'd even trust that too despite personally being anti-Musk everything

ck2··on GPS glitched across the US by as much as 33 feet
not just space weather, I am pretty sure the atmosphere is being disturbed by toxic human activity both by accident and on purpose

I've run outside every morning for decades and used Garmin with GPS since 2015, I've never had so much trouble

Garmins finally supports dual-band (L1+L5) and BeiDou on newest models but it's still not enough to compensate, I have to use a Stryd footpod to guarantee accurate distances/speed

btw BeiDou GPS blows away US GPS for number of sats and precision but despite Russia's GPS being legal in US, technically BeiDou is not

ck2··on Whistleblower warns Postal Service mail ballot system has catastrophic problems
good thing it's completely illegal for the federal government to interfere with state voting proceedure

> For instance, the Postal Service has what the whistleblower claims is a "zero percent failure rate."

> Mail workers would scan a sample of a batch of mail ballots — about 400 out of a batch of 10,000 or more — to verify it matches what is in the federal mail ballot portal.

> Under the policy, if even one barcode on a single ballot in the batch doesn't scan properly or the information does not match, the entire batch would be rejected and returned to state election officials so the problem ballot could be addressed, and then the verification process would have to be started again.

ck2··on I turned my security cameras into an automatic bird identification system
ha, now imagine some hacker changing all the Flock firmware nationwide to do bird identification too

would have been a great Mr. Robot episode

ck2··on New US missile left wide path of death and destruction in Iranian neighborhoods
in this case there are actual photos of cars and residential neighborhoods with walls pieced by thousands of pieces of shrapnel

are we arguing over "oh it might have JUST been a DOZEN innocent civilians" vs 21?

US still hasn't admitted to dropping a tomahawk on an active elementary school killing hundreds using decade-old data after eliminating the part of the pentagon that reviews targets to make sure the are legit and up to date

I'm not taking Iran's side, I'm imagining sitting in my apartment or school while some other regime decides to drone or bomb innocent civilians here because they don't like who is running the country hundreds or thousands of miles away

we are still killing hundreds of fishermen off the coast of Venezuela without trial that are in outboard-motor boats incapable of making it to US

we need to stop killing people just because we can, why does it even need to said?

we decimated Iraq and Afghanistan killing thousands, why? What did we change? Girls can't even go to school past 6th grade there

$40 Trillion national debt and half of that is from war that changes nothing
