cjrd··on The future of MIT education looks more global, modular, and flexible
Roger Grosse and I (Colorado Reed) were just chatting about this article: we created http://www.metacademy.org with this goal in mind.

Recently, we've been discussing the future of Metacademy and how we can better work towards building an open, flexible, and modular educational system. I'd love to hear any ideas (if you're in Berkeley, I'm also open for a coffee-chat on this topic!)

cjrd··on Ask HN: Do long, [funny], descriptive URLs help?
Ha, true. Or maybe http://www.whorepresents.com ?
cjrd··on Show HN: Dependapal – Use Implicit Peer Pressure to Make Progress on Your Goals
Good point, I don't like telling _a bunch_ of friends that I'm trying to do something. I built this site because I work in a lot of two-person collaborations, and I wanted consistent reminders to share progress with the other person.

Excellent! How about: DependaPal - stop s---ing on your goals?
cjrd··on Show HN: Dependapal – Use Implicit Peer Pressure to Make Progress on Your Goals
Ha, I might give this a shot :-)
cjrd··on Deep Learning From The Bottom Up
Nice to see you HN, Adam =)

We just opened up the roadmap for contributions (click the "view source" with a logged in account). Feel free to add any of these notes where you think they'd fit in nicely -- don't worry about messing anything up, we have version control for a reason. Also, please email me if you run into any problems/confusion.

cjrd··on Hacker news for data scientists
I really hope this takes off, not that I won't miss Snowden posts and general CNN-ish news :-)
cjrd··on Poll: Does the name of a startup matter?
In the most polite way, I must ask: what are you hoping to accomplish with this poll? Of course a name "matters:" you can't call your flower company "moldy cheese flowers."
cjrd··on Show HN: Hashtagtee.me – A weekend attempt at passive income
I'd consider springing for a hashtagtee if the price was circa $10.
cjrd··on Using d3 to create directed graphs
interesting suggestion, why firefox OS?
cjrd··on You can't impress developers
The same holds true in virtually every content-oriented field: try making a room full of comedians laugh.
