circlingthesun··on About rel=noopener
This common with OAuth flows. User clicks "login with x", a popup opens that redirects to an authorization page on x. The user then logs in on x, and gets redirected back to origin that takes the token in the hash fragment, and passes it back to the page the user is trying to login to, via window.opener.

circlingthesun··on The cost of a system call [pdf]
We should just let V8 run in the kernel and do away with system calls. https://www.destroyallsoftware.com/talks/the-birth-and-death...

circlingthesun··on What's New in Webpack 2
Well, I use SystemJS to build a stream of in memory files and pipe them to gulp-rev-all. My gulpfile is a bit complex but feel free to use it as reference: http://pastebin.com/zgBsx7Zj

Gulp-rev-all (https://github.com/smysnk/gulp-rev-all) works well for me.

SystemJS is dog slow if you load all your JS upfront. When mostly lazy loading, SystemJS performs reasonably, at least in my case.

I'm using SystemJs + JSPM and it's awesome. I previously made use of bower + requirejs. I love how JSPM automatically populates the config.js file so I can start importing whatever I installed straight away. SystemJS loads pretty much any module format so it was easy to use AMD modules while I was migrating to CommonJS. I recently moved over to ES6 modules without having to touch my SystemJS/JSPM config. I've not really looked into Webpack. It seems to be more popular than SystemJS. When I was considering it, the docs were not that great.

I should follow John Legere? The guy who wrote: "Who the fuck are you, anyway, EFF? Why are you stirring up so much trouble? And who pays you?". Nope, nope nope nope.
circlingthesun··on I hate the C++ keyword auto
I try to avoid auto because it robs me of autocomplete.

circlingthesun··on Giving Everyone in the World an Address
How about retrofitting DNS to do this? Encode a persons GPS coordinates in a TXT record. Now instead of writing my address on an envelope, I write me.example.com. The mailman/post office can then look up someone's coordinates via a DNS query. The benefit of this is that when I move, I can simply update my DNS entry. I could either host my own address or 3rd party could. Local government could grid up their own regions and assign address to fixed locations. You could choose to CNAME your address to the government allocated address or use the government issued one for the plot.
