cift··on Show HN: Yet Another Client for HN
This is just a logo not an app? You should probably update your logo to remove the SS reference

cift··on Show HN: JSPaint.exe – MS Paint as a cross-platform binary
Just tried this, expecting it to function like an electron app. Did not expect it to pop open a node console and start to force install Chrome. It'd be nice to use this without being forced to install Chrome. Maybe see if there's a way to use Firefox or at least Brave instead of Chrome

cift··on European Parliament approves copyright reform
Not quite true

> Under the new regulations, only the individual who purchased the original copy of the work, and not others such as a friend or family, is legally allowed to copy it.

cift··on Firefox to add Tor Browser anti-fingerprinting technique called letterboxing
Or, most 'regular' users will switch to Chrome because reCAPTCHAs work better in that browser. Firefox needs to make sure they're not going to ruin the user experience by breaking sites like this
cift··on Free Messaging App for Slack, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram and More
Volt looks fantastic, but I doubt their roadmap. When it was first posted a few months ago they had Discord/Telegram set to launch within a month. Seems like the story hasn't changed. I highly doubt they'll be able to add all these integrations by the end of March.

That being said. I like what they're doing and I'm happy to be proven wrong

cift··on Free Messaging App for Slack, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram and More
Assuming you don't care about the OS. Once I switched away from iOS, I am finding it very hard to go back
cift··on Firefox partners with ProtonVPN
Searching around turned up this blog post, looks like it's US only https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2018/10/22/testing-n...
cift··on Firefox partners with ProtonVPN
Did they take the page down? I'm getting redirected to the Firefox homepage
cift··on Show HN: Astro-Bot – A programming question with every new tab
Is there a Firefox version?
cift··on Alexa outage in the UK
I just thought my WiFi was busted. Any other regions down or is it just the UK?
cift··on WatermelonDB, a database for React and React Native apps
Looks like it's mostly to provide a lazy loading wrapper for SQLite to React
cift··on [dead]
Looks like there were some errors at 9:47am UTC, only a small blip though https://status.github.com/messages
cift··on Oops, I Wrote a C++ Compiler
This looks like a cool app, the post says it's available on Android but I can't seem to find it on the Play Store. Anyone know what happened?
cift··on Show HN: A chrome extension that fades out old links on HN/Reddit/News sites
Is there source code available? Would like to get this working on Firefox
cift··on The Orange Juice Test (1985)
A similar idea that I like is Van Halen's brown M&M's clause. Worth a read

cift··on Show HN: Lambda speech
I see. Would be nice if there was some kind of about page explaining this
cift··on Show HN: Lambda speech
Not sure where you're reading this. All I can see is this page http://b2b3.free.fr/lambdaspeech/?view=start
cift··on Show HN: Lambda speech
Am I the only one who is utterly confused by what I am looking at?
cift··on GDPR Hall of Shame
It'll be interesting to see how the EU reacts to all of the companies like Oath that, by default, share your data with 300+ ad agencies.

After the GDPR hype has died down, hopefully new tech companies will think twice about data privacy

cift··on GDPR Hall of Shame

EDIT: Updated with new post

cift··on Sites block EU users before GDPR takes effect
> "Organisations outside of the EU that are blocking access or refusing to provide their services to people within the EU are demonstrating how little regard they have paid to protecting the privacy and the personal data of their users"

Exactly. It's becoming very clear that the businessess that are complaining about / struggling to implement the GDPR are the ones that weren't respecting my privacy anyway. Good riddance

cift··on Show HN: Nighthawk: A stealthy, simple, unobtrusive music player
Proton native and Vuido look pretty good if you want to stick to JS. Not sure about the performance though but I like the idea
cift··on Show HN: Nighthawk: A stealthy, simple, unobtrusive music player
Something something electron bad
cift··on Snapchat launches Spectacles V2
> You have to disconnect your phone from WiFi to connect to the glasses' WiFi to transfer data?

I'm guessing that since most people will be using these outdoors, losing WiFi won't be that big of a deal

cift··on Show HN: A minimal, native MacOS desktop app for checking regex matches
This seems very, very similar to an app called Expressions.
