I'm using a dell AT101W that I found deep within my organizations storage...It's not quite a model M but it has the buckling springs and that distinctive clacking when i type. everyone in my office knows when i'm typing, don't know whether or not that is good...
If speed really is key i'd say Perl, otherwise I would just stick to PHP. Ruby and Python are nice for writing code really fast in but Perl / PHP execute much faster.

i've been using godaddy for way too long. I really dislike it though. Horrible site design, interface, etc. I always run into problems w/ them and their support is worthless. But I haven't had the gumption to switch to anyone else since i've been using them for so long.
i've been using twitter for a while now. I mainly use it to quickly mine my friends for information, 'anyone know a good designer for cheap?', 'having problems invoking a ruby method from a cron job', 'in LA, need good tacos, and fast'.
i've been using it for all of my websites for about 6 years. It's robust enough to do just about anything. it's just close enough to see C to be familiar and just different enough to slightly irk you. I'm getting to ready to roll out my first Ruby site though.
Douglas Coupland touched on the subject a few years ago in his book "jPod". After reading that, it really changed the way that I looked at all of the coders / sys-admins that I know.
