I have been using Q4 and running it with https://github.com/gufo-org/gufo which seems to be working pretty well. But I have to get off bazzite as my distro. I love the fedora atomic in principle but it's a pain for normal installs.
christkv··on AnyPS5: Port PS5 binaries to PC without emulation (87% system libraries mapped)
You are right of course it's rockstar lol
christkv··on AnyPS5: Port PS5 binaries to PC without emulation (87% system libraries mapped)
People talking about GTA6 being playable after launch is possible but I doubt it will impact their sales much as somebody will first have to rip this from the console then it has to work (I suspect the hardware requirements will make it harder to run than we think, limiting the mass appeal). Finally the money for blizzard is in the GTA Online its way more important for them long term than the single player campaign. And I do not see how AnyPS5 can help anyone there.

In general though bad news for all the small games out there more than the blockbusters.

christkv··on OpenTPU – An open-source AI accelerator, developed by AI
Its coming, AMD snapped up the company behind https://chatjimmy.ai/ Taalas that did exactly that with an older model. As others have been saying the point is to know when to do it. At what point is there a model that cannot drastically improve that you can then do this lets say for the mid and low tier models leaving frontier to run on gpus.

Awesome 3.8 next runs great on my Framework Desktop so I'm loving more local models.
christkv··on Watson Jr. memo about CDC 6600 (1963)
At least for a couple of years it was a massive success. If they had not done the PC somebody else would have become the PC I think so they were damned if they did and damned if they did not.
christkv··on Watson Jr. memo about CDC 6600 (1963)
Classic example of a small very motivated team with free reigns vs committee development at IBM. The irony is that less than 20 years later IBM would do the same thing and it lead to the IBM PC.
christkv··on One month coding with GLM 5.3 Flash
Not only an overbuild but one that’s not real as there is a huge difference between talking about building and actually doing the building. Announcements are not the same as execution.
christkv··on 56k.rip – the 1996 dial-up internet experience
My friends first modem was 1200 baud, mine 2400 and then I got the 9600 baud one. 56 kpbs was a pipe dream. Another friend had it but it was barely ever able to connect at full speed due to the quality of the line.
christkv··on Why the Bronze Age Collapsed
The Sea Peoples seemed more like slow erosion on top of all the other issues. Egypt was able to resist the Sea Peoples but other empires were to weak to handle the constant issues. It feels a bit like the fall of the Western Roman Empire which was erosion of stability, what it meant to be roman and military might until it collapsed.

They just informed me they are gimping my 200 plan to 10x instead of 20x the normal plan size and threw me some extra tokens to compensate. So the gimping is starting the new 200 plan will be 500.
christkv··on Why Is Sam Altman a Free Man?
So why is OpenAI not charged with Cybercrimes. You would be if you did the same.
christkv··on MongoDB CEO resigns to join Meta
Dude if you bought this morning on the news you would have made well over 10% back today. This smells more of a massive algorithmic sell off

if "CEO Resignes" SELL SELL SELL

christkv··on MongoDB CEO resigns to join Meta
MongoDB is a great db for agentic workloads to be honest. Thats probably why they are still seeing growth. They also have some very good embedding models. They should really make those available over their own API though.

They probably should look into JEV style models as well might make sense for automatic classification of data.

christkv··on AI companies in race to demonstrate their model most threatening to humanity
I wish they would call their bluff. Just declare them a national security concern and send in the feds. Lets see how fast they back peddle on this. Any if their models are hacking everything like they claim they should be charged for it like any normie would be if they did the same.
christkv··on Prompting Claude Opus 5.5
This constant change of behavior, the dumming down of models over time as they do different levels of quantization to save processing cycle etc. To be honest I long for being able to get locked in versions of models with known parameters so I'm looking forward to getting more and more open source models and long term being able to afford running our own so we have a known stable llm model checkpoint and not what feels like random.
christkv··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
Its part Japanese and Koreas model and part British Empire Mercantilism.
christkv··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
If you stagnate economically then you are shrinking. Inflation eats up the purchasing power and you get poorer. In a lot of European countries the purchasing power of the population has been decimated over the last 20 years. Only a few countries in the east are the exception.

christkv··on U.S. appeals court upholds designation of Anthropic as supply chain risk
Eh this just we wont buy from you because you are putting limitations on the use. Anthropic will be fine if they don’t like it they can accept the terms of the contract or walk away.
christkv··on Revealing the details of how OpenAI agents hacked Hugging Face
They ate pushing to be regulated so they can create a locked down monopoly of 3-4 players where nobody gets to sell legal llm access like open weights. Instant locked down corporate market.
christkv··on Seattle City Council votes to ban surveillance pricing in sale of groceries
I got hit with personal pricing on amazon in Spain yesterday buying a birthday gift. If I was in privacy mode it showed as 59.99 and if I was logged in 64.99
christkv··on How did AMD Ryzen get 50% faster in two years?
I love my frameworks strix halo box. 16 zen 5 cores with way more memory bandwidth than they should have for a desktop. Only missing the x3d cache

christkv··on What It's Like to Work in One of America's Data Centers
At my first job in a bank there was an old-timer whose job had been to fly to every trading desk the bank had in other countries to install software updates. He would do a round the world trip 1-2 times a year with multiple duplicate boxes of floppies during 3-4 weeks.
