christkv··on AI companies destroy physical books – let's scan rare books before it's too late
Do you mean rare as in old? I doubt they are destroying old books because most of them are out of copyright and probably available already as text. I imagine this applies to in copyright works and I do NOT condone it but the way this is told it sounds like they are raiding old libraries to destroy first editions of Cervantes.
christkv··on Norway Should Buy OpenAI
Yeah I can’t say either. I cannot imagine what the current political machine in Norway would do with it but nothing good and they would run it into the ground. When it comes to Ethics maybe read up on Telenor and Burma.
christkv··on Deus Ex creator Warren Spector is retiring from game development
I’m hoping some small team will do a spiritual successor to deux ex. Somebody told me someone is working on one for thief.
christkv··on Anthropic IPO valuation hinges on $190-200B 2028 revenue forecast
They are going to have to monetize their customers to try to reach that goal. So that means charging as much as the market can handle. They have a couple of problems though called OpenAI, SpaceX, Google, Chinese models and Open weights.
christkv··on Anthropic IPO valuation hinges on $190-200B 2028 revenue forecast
What market size do they think AI will be in 2028 to give that prognosis.
christkv··on Gen Z has rediscovered the joy of going to the movies
Maybe because they are finally making good movies again? Up to the mid 2010s you could just decide to go to the movies and there would at least be one movie you wanted to watch. Last five years have been there is a movie a month at most.
christkv··on Accelerating GPT-5.6 Sol Ultrafast
https://chatjimmy.ai/ Is that. Company behind it just got acquired by AMD
christkv··on Rapid warming may tip AMOC at 2°C, slower warming may avert collapse
There is no way geoengineering could go wrong right and make things worse. We really understand complex systems right? No way we would be like toddlers messing with powers we barely understand.
christkv··on Grok 4.6 scores 61 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index
Versus Sam,Dario or the CCP? Im all for running local models but im sor far from being able to pay for a large model hardware setup. My strix halo box is like driving a beaten up vespa when the frontier models are Ferraris.
christkv··on 2026 Eclipse Webcams
Will definitely do thanks
christkv··on 2026 Eclipse Webcams
We are going to get the full solar eclipse, but to be honest I'm going to enjoy the transitions more than the actual eclipse itself. It's not like the glasses will give you a great view of the actual sun itself compared to a live professional camera setup so I'll be having the tv on to se the "filtered" view of the sun directly instead of trying to stare at it. I'll peak a glance once in awhile.
christkv··on Facebook is paying controversial creators to produce rage-bait content
I have a very mixed friend group from hard left and hard right and they all get their own little bubble of rage bait that amplifies their own beliefs. Since i have them in my feed I get this crap from both side in my feed thanks to the algorithms. So i barely touch the site anymore
christkv··on Muse Glimmer: 30B-parameter model optimized for always-on local agent workflows
Is qwen confirmed to release?
christkv··on OpenAI’s head of ethics leaves less than a year after joining
Whats the definition of EAOS though who's ethics? Greek-Roman, Western, Islamic, Buddhist, Hinduism, Human rights (western values)..
christkv··on It's time Amazon played by the same rules as everyone else [video]
Distractions from running the city I guess. The massive economic black hole they are facing is not something to put the focus on.
christkv··on What happens if an entire class of workers loses faith in their careers
This has been happening for a while before the LLMs coming around. A lot of people are over educated doing jobs you only need a high school diploma for if even that. There was a whole book published about this called bs job. Everyone knows people who are basically doing nothing of real value and in some cases actually negative value as they try to justify their paycheck. The amount of busywork with no value in big organizations is very high (private and public).
christkv··on US strikes $1.2B deal to pay German firm to halt offshore wind projects
Offshore wind projects when you have tons and tons of empty land always seemed weird to me. The cost, logistics, reduced life of the installations, disruptions to the ecosystems and potential production issues with winter storms and other extreme weather events.
christkv··on AMD acquires Taalas to boost inference performance by etching models in silicon
There is a big risk in etching a model into silicon like this. We are still evolving what small models look like and improving their performance. When do you decide to etch one into silicon knowing that right now an improved one can be 3 months away.
christkv··on Apple says more ex-employees may have taken confidential data to OpenAI
So they get a special Apple metal shine on their unknown hardware device (I guess some sort of Siri BS gadget or similar) and this somehow represents some sort of existential IP threat to Apple? I don't like OpenAI and Sam Altman (seems sketchy as f although the Anthropic guy is in the running to beat him). But this just seem ridiculous. So either there is more to this story that we are not being told or it's just a fishing expedition on Apples part to get force discovery.
christkv··on Apple says more ex-employees may have taken confidential data to OpenAI
I mean do they need any of this for that. All of it is in the software anyway and the Android stack is there already.
christkv··on Apple says more ex-employees may have taken confidential data to OpenAI
I might be dense but from what I read I have no idea why any of the stolen documents have any value to OpenAI in the context of their business. Knowing Apples maybe future products etc seems pointless.
christkv··on New HIV vaccine shows unprecedented success in preclinical study
I cannot answer those questions as much as I wish I could. My dads papers around the stuff they are working on is here if it’s of any use https://www.sciencedirect.com/author/7005329466/gunnar-kvalh...
christkv··on New HIV vaccine shows unprecedented success in preclinical study
This is the way a lot of modern cancer vaccines are being developed. The idea is to create custom vaccines in the future targeting the patients specific cancer. So they are therapeutic vaccines. Obviously some cancers cannot be reach by a vaccine or are so aggressive that they overwhelm the patient before they can help.
christkv··on New Framework Desktop Option with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 and 192GB Memory
It’s a fantastic dev box i got the framework desktop and its awesome as a developer desktop
christkv··on [dead]
Skip all of the brands and buy industrial (professional) gear. Consumer cookware is way overpriced for what you get in most cases. Most of your stuff should last your entire life.
christkv··on John C. Dvorak has died
Going to miss him he was always a fun curmudgeon with an interesting point of view. My condolences to his family.

christkv··on The EU is about to sell our most sensitive data to the US for visa-free travel
All it means that you do not have to go to the embassy and stand in line
christkv··on 1-Bit LLM in the Browser
Quite different models though Qwen 3.6 model has 27B active parameters. gemma-4 has 26B parameters with 4B active at any given time. You should compare with Qwen 3.6 35B A3B
christkv··on 1-Bit LLM in the Browser
Hmm I get 44,7 tokens/s on the smallest 1.7b one in the browser on my m1 max.
christkv··on EU ban on destruction of unsold clothes and shoes enters into application
The problem with the EU is that it only approaches problem solving with regulation. It’s incapable of doing anything else. Meanwhile none of the Chinese platforms dumping cheap clothes and crap into the market are held to any of these standards for safety or destruction.
