christkv··on VC isn't VC anymore
The root of the problem I think was caused by allowing institutional funds to invest money in VC firms. You combine that with the majority of the value being generated before they go public and you have a stock market which no longer works as a way to raise money for the company but as a way for VC´s to exit their positions and offloading companies on the public and funds.

christkv··on Commodore 64 released September 1, 1982
Yeah the bug in the hardware for the disk drive was a bummer. It was supposed to be 4-5 times faster but due to the hardware bug it shipped with a slow workaround. Its kind of amazing that you allow it to ship like that.
christkv··on Sweden pauses Denmark power cable over EU grid rules
The Danish traders are parasites on the energy infrastructure earning billions in arbitrage fees taking advantage of being the transit of Norwegian and Swedish power exports. All I can see from the EU energy market is an enormous wealth transfer from the users to the middle men. The market does not work unless the goal is to enrich the financial elite.

Disk drive luxury, all I had was the tape deck. On the upside I got a lot of reading done while waiting for game to load.

The U.S. constitution would be a much better constitution for the EU than what we have now.
christkv··on European Commission Revives Push for Encryption Backdoors in ProtectEU Strategy
This its more like an oligarch edict with democratic dressing. Its set up so the European elite can force political chance without having to deal with annoying things like democracy other than in name

Then we probably have to wait a little for them to optimize it.

The amount of time I spent with my friend planning our expeditions on the C64, drawing paper maps and marking clues, treasures. The only other game we sank as much time into was Red Storm Rising with one person running the boat on the the keyboard and the other issuing orders.
christkv··on AI companies destroy physical books – let's scan rare books before it's too late
Do you mean rare as in old? I doubt they are destroying old books because most of them are out of copyright and probably available already as text. I imagine this applies to in copyright works and I do NOT condone it but the way this is told it sounds like they are raiding old libraries to destroy first editions of Cervantes.
christkv··on Norway Should Buy OpenAI
Yeah I can’t say either. I cannot imagine what the current political machine in Norway would do with it but nothing good and they would run it into the ground. When it comes to Ethics maybe read up on Telenor and Burma.
