chrispine··on FOVO: A new 3D rendering technique based on human vision
Can I see a video of turning/moving through a game with this? A static image isn't enough for me to tell how this would actually feel.
chrispine··on Ruby on Rails in a week
Aw, thanks! (3rd edition is in the works)
chrispine··on Manyland
I started a game, found a unicorn, flew up to a spaceship, flew up to a tiny, floating, green block. When I got out of the spaceship, it flew away! This stranded me on the block. Now I see no way to reset my character, and there is nothing to do but die.

I'm sure this is a fun game, but I only got 4 minutes in before it became totally unplayable. :(

Would probably be a lot of fun if the interface weren't so horrible.

Fun idea, though.

Isn't this more Reddit material than HN? I'd gladly upvote this... on Reddit.

This guy needs to get a native speaker to proofread his writing for him.
chrispine··on A Libertarian Convert to Socialized Medicine
> Libertarians, on the other hand, don't know or understand the philosophy from which many of their political conclusions were copied

You are aware that libertarianism predates objectivism?

I invite you to consider that to be rational is to WIN. Libertarians, unlike most objectivists, understand this (or at least appear to, in that they tend to take the pragmatic view, with pretty much amounts to the same thing).

If you want good health care, and one system gives you good health care, but is somehow philosophically impure... don't you think maybe the philosophy is irrelevant?

chrispine··on Ask HN - Review My Idea: Make Work More Like Games
There is a large body of work on this. The short, short version: this is a Very Bad Idea.

For an intro into the subject, check out "Punished By Rewards" by Alfie Kohn.

Fine in Opera.
chrispine··on Re: What You Can't Say
But it wasn't a blanket statement (applying to all french lit profs equally). It was a generalization (a reference to the average intelligence of french lit profs).

It's meant to be understood in the same way that "men are taller than women" is meant to be understood; a counter-example will get you nowhere here.
