chrisdl··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (December 2014)
Suitey | Front End Dev(s) | New York (NYC) | Full time Give an email to jobs@suitey.com or email chris@suitey.com (CTO and also.. me) Looking for senior to mid level front-end developer. Your gonna have to be quite experienced in CSS (SASS) or JS (or both!). If you like to define yourself as an architect, that would be a good sign =). chrisdl··on Can Real Estate Brokerages Survive As Software Eats the World?
I agree they are basically like cd companies. No incentive to change (except the obvious one everyone but they see)
chrisdl··on Privacy Over Innovation: A Brief History of Real Estate Data
yeah whoever figures out how to have brokers not be sleaze balls is gonna make money. My view on the have/have not of a broker is that if you are buying you wanna make sure your property will increase in value so you need someone that really knows the area OR do a truckload of research yourself. Also the seller will probably pay the broker so it is a win-win for the buyer...

chrisdl··on Fake deaf interpreter at Mandela memorial
Yeah they are really angry about it. Crazy that his decision was just to fake it.
chrisdl··on 'Nothing is Beyond Our Reach'
I think it looks awesome! I for one welcome our Kraken overlords.
chrisdl··on John Matrix (Commando) Bio on IMDB.
In case it gets changed "John Matrix is the bastard son of Rambo and Chuck Norris. He spent most of his youth killing small animals. he tried to become a school teacher but was too much of a BAMF to not kill little kids. He may have had his ups and downs but he is one of americas greateset presidents.m,"
chrisdl··on Show HN: Instartlogic - CDN Replacement
Huh, So you would have to choose that OR CloudFlare (Which does some CDNish stuff as well) I guess. Looks interesting though, I wonder how they figure out what information needs to be loaded first. Concatenating JS might actually be a bad thing with instartlogic, since it would then have to load em all no matter what they affect (although I doubt it is smart enough to identify which script files need to be loaded when...)
chrisdl··on Why I'm never flying again
I reckon the argument is that if less people fly there will eventually be less planes in the air and more stimulation for alternative modes of transportation (or efficiency goals made more prominent for airplanes). But I reckon the effect of buyers is probably not gonna cut it and the only way to truly make travel more energy efficient is incentives/penalties on a corporate/government level.

I absolutely can't back that up though ;).

chrisdl··on Will we ever want to have sex with robots?
My thoughts exactly. Vacuum cleaner anyone?

chrisdl··on Poll: What is your favorite programming font?
Source Code Pro
chrisdl··on Eighteen months of Django
I actually don't "know" either. But I suspect it has to do with knowing which python to use (system generally) and if the user wants to use global packages as well.

checkout virtualenvwrapper (http://virtualenvwrapper.readthedocs.org/en/latest/install.h...) as well for handling virtualenvs.

chrisdl··on What UI really is (and how UX confuses matters)
great article, as always, by Ryan Singer (of 37 Signals fame).
chrisdl··on A robotic dragonfly with a wingspan of 63 cm
verge has done a piece on it too now. http://www.theverge.com/2013/3/29/4160620/dragonfly-drone-fe...
chrisdl··on I don’t use a ring of any kind on my phone. Path CEO
The article doesn't look good for him, but I would argue that most of those answers could have been said as jokes. The problems with joking in text is, of course, the lack of voice to signify that you are in fact joking.

Or he could be (as Gruber puts it) a "huge douchebag" http://daringfireball.net/linked/2013/03/29/dave-morin

chrisdl··on Getting started with AngularJS
Hohoho, good find.
chrisdl··on 3D Printed Gun Movement
I thought that was pretty interesting actually. Regardless of gun control stance. I wonder how much of an impact 3D printers will have in the coming years.
