chris-at··on “I’m in the US – what if I just ignore the EU VAT changes?”
More info here: http://rachelandrew.github.io/eu-vat/
chris-at··on Show HN: PolyBrowser 1.0 – A new way to browse the web. What do you think?
I couldn't find a license. Is it open source?
chris-at··on [dead]
If you follow the link you may find the suggestion by google to be rude.
chris-at··on Android 5.0 Lollipop reviewed
AppOps is hardly a solution. It's a very complicated interface for what should be a "Do you want to allow ..." yes/no question.
chris-at··on TestFlight Beta Testing Goes Live for All iOS Developers
Though having to do a Beta App Review makes this useless.
chris-at··on Strengthening 2-Step Verification with Security Key
Sounds like an interesting idea but isn't it a bit limited? I can only use it on a computer, not on mobile devices.
chris-at··on Android 5.0 Lollipop
Privacy isn't even mentioned in its features :(

chris-at··on Hjson, the Human JSON
IMO yaml is too complex. Just take a look at the spec: http://www.yaml.org/spec/1.2/spec.html
chris-at··on Shill: A Secure Shell Scripting Language
> super-powerful and elegant PowerShell

I'd agree, unfortunately it's pronounced PowersHell.

(by those who have to use it)

chris-at··on Show HN: Find good SciFi books based on their score (AngularJS project)
Nice idea but I can't find any of the scifi books I recently read.
chris-at··on Seznam, a Czech search company, previews 3D maps
Are there easter eggs hidden here?

chris-at··on What did Persona get right? Why did Persona fail to gain wide adoption?
Does Persona support native iOS/Android apps? And if not, why?
chris-at··on Ask HN: Can a Stack Overflow moderator give us Stack Overflow back?
The site is interesting but why are all blog posts from '9 months ago'?

Questions and answers should display the date they were posted... this way it looks like you don't have a lot of users.

chris-at··on Ask HN: Can a Stack Overflow moderator give us Stack Overflow back?
You know one thing I've always missed on SO was to be able to subscribe to a question ...

Just in case you add this feature I've already found a few interesting questions that don't have answers yet :)

chris-at··on Ask HN: Can a Stack Overflow moderator give us Stack Overflow back?
I didn't say fun questions or answers have to be useful. Thanks for the links, I hope Software Recommendations will be launched.
chris-at··on Ask HN: Can a Stack Overflow moderator give us Stack Overflow back?
I think a post that said 'the other ide sucks' would get downvotes anyways while a post 'we are better than x, because...' would be perfectly ok.

Fun questions could be tagged (and even hidden).

chris-at··on Microsoft Is Bringing Its BUILD Developer Event Back To San Francisco
Well, IMHO they won't get anyone back until they figure out where they actually want to be going.
chris-at··on [dead]
Because XBox!
chris-at··on My Experience with the Surface Pro 2 as a Software Developer
Yes there may be a button but it still renders most apps "blurry".
chris-at··on My Experience with the Surface Pro 2 as a Software Developer
Windows should at least implement 200% scaling (like retina on the Mac) where apps are useable/look OK, even if they don't support scaling at all.
chris-at··on Pencil
> Our adaptive palm rejection instantly knows whether it’s your hand or Pencil touching the page. Rest your hand on the screen, write from any angle. No calibration or setup. You’ll forget you’re creating on a tablet.

Does anyone know if this works with iPad gestures enabled?

All of the other apps promising palm detection/rejection (like Penultimate) require you to turn off iPad gestures.

chris-at··on Protean Echo – Fuse All Your Cards into One
I don't think having a backup CC on the same card would help if your card is stolen.
chris-at··on Four years of Go
Does a chart without a y-dimension say anything at all?
chris-at··on Download Windows 8.1 RTM, Visual Studio 2013 RC Today
This is silly.

We can download the RTM but they locked out the upgrade functionality - fresh installs only! Wtf?

chris-at··on Announcing TypeScript 0.9.1
I appreciate their efforts but this is the 'buggiest' release yet.
chris-at··on Log in to Stack Overflow with your smartphone
Very clever, now try to login to stackoverflow ON your phone!

Their tutorial only has this to say: Clef is all about letting you log in to websites on your computer with your mobile phone, so you'll need to complete this tutorial on a non-mobile browser at http://clef.io/tutorial
