chphipps··on Ask HN: Seeking relaxing, cheap vacation spots for personal coding
I'd recommend Cebu, in the Philippines... but seeing as you want to keep travel costs low, how about Hawaii? Rent a nice hotel room with a spectacular view without blowing your money on travel costs.
chphipps··on Where do I go to learn C++?
Sure. I find the education system very straightforward and downright boring, to be frank, being a high school student, however, I am constricted to it on a day-to-day basis.

I love real-world application and so I see coding and development in general as the way forward for me personally - to be honest the whole world of startups.

I'm currently running a start-up company and learning code on the side. I guess the end goal is to be able to develop world-class applications? That's why I want to learn C++.

chphipps··on Ask HN: Does anyone dream of code?
When I first started to learn to program, in the very first week, I slept very little. Not because I was up late at night working but because I was so enticed and interested in what I had been learning that my brain refused to stop thinking with that mentality. So yes, I do.
chphipps··on Ask HN: My site is better than that of competitors, how do I make my site known?
Depending on where you live, throwing a launch party is a plausible idea that would raise awareness. If you live somewhere such as Boston or California, then start going out to start-up events.

Or you can focus on SEO. I would do both if it were me, let me know how it goes!

chphipps··on Ask HN: What is the biggest untapped opportunity for startups?
Transportation.

Half of the energy used every day, worldwide, is used on transportation (cars, trains etc.). But is this energy well spent? I have seen first-hand, and so have you, that people spend their mornings unhappily commuting to work, school etc.

This needs to be changed, and given how fast technology has been advancing in recent years - change is coming sooner rather than later when it comes to transportation.

Great question by the way, have a look through YC's RFC list. https://www.ycombinator.com/rfs/#vrar

chphipps··on How Apple can win back the Chinese smartphone market
Personally, I think Apple will have huge success in terms of iPhone 8 sales over in China. Despite the fact that 8 is a lucky number, which is obviously a contributing factor, I also believe that Apple will win back the hearts of the Chinese market with the 8 after all the mishaps and screw-ups from other smartphone companies throughout 2016.

Whilst both Oppo and Samsung (The leading tech companies in China) received significant numbers of reports of 'exploding phones' - Apple received significantly less of these reports.

I believe that now that the Chinese market has experienced what both Oppo and Samsung (who have both been industry leaders in the China market) have to offer, they will swiftly make their way back onto Apple's devices for the iPhone 8.

chphipps··on Fundraising Rounds Are Not Milestones
We are in total agreement. Well said.
chphipps··on Wine 2.0 released
Wine is a great project. This brings me back to the early days of Linux!
chphipps··on What would Steve do? He sure wouldn’t eat humble pie as the Trump era dawns
Great post. Recommended.
chphipps··on Next Level Social Media Sharing
Looks awesome. A few points though... on the demo pages you have up, make them more realistic. You want to be showing potential clients exactly what it could and will look like if they work with you.

The idea is sound - and you obviously have the skills needed to provide it. Just put more emphasis on how it will look and work, show off everything you can do on the landing page.

chphipps··on Mac sales declined nearly 10% last year
Really interesting post, cheers. Believe it or not many people are still unaware of this... i'll send it around.
