THIS DOCUMENT HAS BEEN LAST UPDATED IN MARCH 2015 AND SOME SUBTLETIES HAVE CHANGED SINCE, ESPECIALLY CONCERNING REVERTING ETHER TRANSFERS IN CASE OF OUT-OF-GAS.
Based on my understanding, your bullet points are valid excluding the first one.
This is not true - the actions within the contract are rolled back. You do, however, lose the ether committed to paying the gas cost (cost of execution).
The DAO is a DAO specifically designed to raise money for other DAOs. The unique thing about it over other crowdfunding platforms is that voting rights are implemented in an Ethereum contract hence enforceable with no central authority.
I believe this inconvenience is minor, however.
The strategy is deterrence. This is similar to how the justice system "makes an example" out of certain cases by pressing extremely harsh penalties. So while this effects Jeremy negatively, he is not the target here.

...Perhaps a corporate slack channel that candidates are invited to join?
I disagree. The text is indexed and searchable.

I agree. I wonder if starting with research papers that have lots of symbolic logic (e.g. math proofs) would be the easiest starting point for a system like this.
One type of ad is about recognition.
The other type is about solving a problem.
To me, this largely boils down to CPC vs CPM. It will be interesting to see how the market evolves to embrace (or discard) these different types.
