chanmad29··on Zuckerberg, Dorsey spar over Twitter’s flagging of Trump’s tweets
In defense of Zuckerberg, he has always maintained this hands off stance. But isn't the reality that facebook is already an arbiter of truth when it banned Alex Jones? I much rather prefer if these platforms owned up their responsibility like Twitter did.
chanmad29··on Show HN: Python package to collect normalized news from almost any website
Left, Right & Center podcast also tries to address this. They pick a topic and try to get both sides of the argument.

chanmad29··on Organ donation in England has moved to an opt-out system
"Your family will still be approached and your faith, beliefs and culture will continue to be respected."

This seems to be a good move that could help a ton of people in need, while also giving enough wiggle room to families to deny the donation.

chanmad29··on Don’t require a user to be interested twice: lessons on reducing signup friction
100% agree. Spoken like a user and not a PM.
chanmad29··on Grubhub stock halted after report Uber is eyeing a takeover
Not to forget the markup they charge from customers on the prices. Paid 10% more even on a pick up order from a restaurant downstairs. Learnt that the service is best used when you cannot drive to a certain place.
chanmad29··on Bye, Amazon
Amazon deserves this criticism but I think there is nothing to single them out. Most for-profit companies would behave in a similar fashion unless there is a competition for these workers that will force Amazon to treat them better. Since Amazon is operating in virtual monopoly here, there is no incentive for them to behave differently unless there are stronger laws such as minimum wage etc..
chanmad29··on Are we too busy to enjoy life?
Hit me so hard- I had to cry out your username. That said, similar ideas are generally expounded in ancient Indian yoga and meditation practices.
chanmad29··on The Webpage, an online RSS reader and news aggregator, styled like a newspaper
This looks so much like an e-paper but only better and way easier to navigate!
chanmad29··on Ask HN: Why did you join the tech industry?
Moved from finance asset management to analytics, under the assumption that working with some coding, is the way ahead. Not sure I agree that much now.
chanmad29··on The Food Expiration Dates You Should Follow
I don't know if I should be worried for you or laugh at this, sniffing the sarcasm.
chanmad29··on Firefox now tells Mozilla what your default browser is every day
Are you telling me Firefox is not better than using edge/chrome in terms of data collection? Are they using to improve their service or serve ads? Still with Mozilla because I'm trying to back this against the Goliath Google.
chanmad29··on Honda bucks industry trend by removing touchscreen controls
Although I do not drive around much, fully hardware buttons + Siri voice controls(maps, music) does not sound bad.
chanmad29··on Zoom needs to clean up its privacy act
Does anyone know what could Facebook do with such video calling data?

PS- I hate misuse of my data as much as the next person.

chanmad29··on Trump Declares National Emergency
Not too hard for Trump to manufacture a villain here, if he had to- immigration etc..
chanmad29··on Creating a Slack Writing Etiquette Guide for Your Workplace
Is slack etiquette different from that of Skype? I prefer to greet and then send in my message(in one or many chunks depending on complexity/feedback) after that.
chanmad29··on Twitter starts testing 'Fleets,' its version of Stories
why not have a edit history but still show the most recent tweet at the time?
chanmad29··on Ask HN: How to Take Good Notes?
A lot depends on the instructor. The good ones go slow enough that you can both follow along and take notes. What worked best for me is to pay attention when professor is explaining and quickly write down in my words the explained concept- like moving it from my RAM to SSD. This way I build about 80% understanding of the concept. Further redoing the notes by referencing material/problem solving took me closer to full understanding.
