At the end of the day backdooring encryption does nothing but weaken everyone's security without actually helping intelligence agencies, at least in the face of serious actors.
Fine, agree to a global backdoor or all crypto with a handful of trusted key holders, how long until the algo or key is leaked, how long until a flaw in it's implementation is found, how long until some TSA agent is photographed with the password blinking on his screen in a news article.
All this will do for bad actors is ensure they assume whatever service provider isn't to be trusted in their implementation and just use a 3rd party process and/or open source tool chain to produce encrypted messages that will be routed over already encrypted networks. Great, your backdoor got you to a second layer of ciphertext that you still can't make heads or tails of, meanwhile you've weakened the security of literally every person on earth.
A backdoor is unacceptable, no matter it's perceived strength, value, or safety.
Spam in your real mail box which even at a quick glace effects:
- waste management resources
- recycling resources
- extra work for USPS (sorting, shipping, delivery)
- extra weight == more gasoline required
- environmental issues (litter, printing chemicals, trees = cut down)
And that is probably just the tip of the ice-berg on actual impact... nope, not an issue, this is how we make money.
I've had a problem with this for years, but there is no way to fix it besides charging the producers of such "mail" an arm and a leg.
Maybe we should push for the death of "Mailbox Neutrality"... or wait, should we support it so they'll kill it off?...

Sprinkle some crack on him Johnson...
Why? For what exactly? How do you put up with that UI?
- just remove them in production
- people have already written these
- I hate OP
- etc.
This is just a little util I wrote to make my life and my teams life easier and more resilient.
Use it, don't use it, fork it, pull and push it, etc.
Thanks!

The decision was pretty easy to make after that discovery.
Think of it kind of like network RAM, the data isn't stored anywhere persay and if either host fails to bounce back the payload the data is lost since it wasn't stored on any single machine and only kept alive in limbo.
I didn't really stick with the class after finding some flaws with it but I learned some stuff in the long run, and the breathing thing has stuck with me after feeling it's effects.

This was my instructor, dude had a pain threshold that was unbelievable. You can see him using the techniques while being... abused. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD4_RfEmWBg
If you're a novice programmer and you're working with a library that has a README file you'll only be confused 1 time, after that you'll know. If your OS gets confused... well, that's your fault for your OS selection and you should be used to using "open with...".
1. He was a trained professional 2. He knew their hand, their next move even 3. He was an outed cop on a rampage based on inequality in the ranks of the LAPD
I don't think Dorner was ever going to be brought in alive, the LAPD didn't want him to have a soap box to preach from or to give him hero status. I remember shaking my head as I listened to police scanner while they started to set the cabin on fire.
This was a scared confused kid hiding in a boat with the nation watching and wanting to hear what he had to say. The other seemed more like a shut it up, sweep it under the rug, the guy is a nut, let's all just forget this happened kinda thing.
I have no solution to that dilemma that won't put us as a society as low or lower than the terrorists we're fighting...
I'm not trying to discredit what you're saying, just pointing out why people (my friend and probably a lot of others) go into hyper sensitive reactionary mode.
