To me the point is to toss as much at the brain as possible. Not limit yourself or your child with monoculture.

On the $300 end though I got a walking treadmill for my standing desk. It is changing my life.
I'm about 2 weeks in and usually avg 5.5 miles a day. Words per minute is still 80 and accuracy hasn't suffered. Worked my way upto 2.6mph. I had to set the office temperature to 66 degrees F though. Worked up a sweat :)
Just say that by the time a child is 12, you have 6 more summers left. The impact is greater even if the premise isn't true. Which it isn't. It's a false premise. Now you have X years as an adult.
I'm going to pursue cold showers at night on really hot days and try to keep the AC off or only kick on if the house temp is 85F.
If you're retired then maybe you are waxing philosophically about the fleating nature of time.
And if it doesn't work for you after trying, quit batching and change your situation.
If he doesn't have good equipment he could work with management to lobby for better equipment or bring his own there.
Instead of working for 4 hours then "doing whatever" he could make meaningful changes in the organization but he chooses not too.
Maybe it isn't a terrible place to work. Maybe he is a terrible employee.
Also, any SLA on uptime?
