Bloated security theater being profitable also doesnt help. One example is smartphones as TAN generators for online banking replacing TAN lists. While you can now charge customers per SMS, the second factor got quite a bit more easy to attack.
Unless they are too incompetent or corrupt to keep the ship sailing. Which you could also reword into the problem becoming too complex and the process missing means to counter steer.
Especially with the later framing it becomes clear that one might have unrealistic expectations for the process the problem got delegated to. Stuff is complicated and checks and balances in form of the fourth estate are currently dysfunction due to a lack of a financing.
There were already addons like that that created garbage traffic a while ago. Just wasnt practical without language networks.

I doubt you will find any unbiased opinion. Its important to remember that economists arent solely focused on the IS state. Its not a science, its perception management. The narrative is self fulfilling.
I really enjoy the npr article on the Brazilian inflation on this https://www.npr.org/sections/money/2010/10/04/130329523/how-...
The tldr is that the economy is what you think it to be.
Just thought i mention it since gender preferences shouldnt be news to anyone who heard of tumblr. Kinky and degrading stuff is just not an exclusively male, or even male dominated domain. Maybe treating women like they have no agency on this is pretty sexist.
Again, none of this takes away from the concerns for sex workers safety. Once money enters the picture, consent considerations have to change and safeguards must apply. Which sites like Kink do a great job with to give a positive counterexample. Go check out the 2013 documentary by the same name¹. Here its worth mentioning that they are especially hard hit by signaling pressuring their payment processors. Its a great example for how this kind of unguided actionism by ideologues always harms the people who least deserve it. Yes they do torture porn, but they do it like it should be done.
I think we might be talking past each other. I am not talking about employers but technical staff. Those are employees themselves with no human resources responsibility.
edit: I think the intention is to keep management strictly out of real world safety critical decisions. To simplify, if you got an MBA your opinion is meaningless when it comes the safe running of the physical site.

The authors of the french study will likely be shocked and appalled to find out that men werent the target audience for 50 shades of grey.
Prudes better stick to reading only the first 4th from the left. She isnt kidding with taboo, human sexuality can get pretty fucked up.
Then again, no kink shaming. You do you. Play safe :)
Good point. Its just really bad to present slander as scientific or journalistic. Even for a pre purge state of pornhub, the claim that there was a child porn category is just really really wrong.
But that post was quite helpful, i think we got the point responsible for the different perspectives.
>We often discuss articles from the past on here.
The article, as well as the study dont present it as a picture of the past but one of the present state. The guardian article is from yesterday and the study had been going on for 18 months. Presenting stuff they found from 2019, with quite questionable methodology at that, as current breaches journalistic, scientific and ethical standards.
>Are you saying that what the study claims was not true at the time of their research?
Unfortunately the study itself doesnt seem to have a date, but from the article, yes absolutely.
edit: URL of the PDF of the report contains the same date as the guardian article.
Silly me took the clearly defined term literal.
>Honestly your response here feels like I'm talking to the Men in Black and you want me to just wipe my understanding of the real world.
Claiming racial categories to be racist is nonsense. You quoting long since removed videos with bad sounding placeholder titles doesnt show that.
>Where did illegal come from here?
From the report, its what we are discussing here.
>when it was removed in 2019.
I am glad we that we could come to an agreement that the study is referencing something that doesnt exist anymore. Might explain why the article is flagged.
I really hope you can see how ludicrous it is to make these kind of claims. There are some serious concerns with the structure of the porn industry and exploitation of sex workers, especially with the videos produced for freesites, derailing with these hyperboles is extremely counterproductive. Without credibility there is no basis for communication. There is no room for overstating for effect.
edit: Even if you could take the report serious (no), arguing with the state of pre 2019 and presenting it as current is disingenuous and shows a clear lack of credibility.
Not on these sites today my pirate friend. Pick any of the channels of commercial sites and look for actual titles. You will find short excerpts from the full videos for sale on the sites with no ability to cross reference the two. Thats working as intended. You wont ever find the actual title of a clip on a free site. They are all placeholders.
>* Russian Soldiers Rape Ukranian Bi-atch
There is simply no way that you will find any video containing the word "rape". Those got purged a long time ago. Like most other terms mentioning violence.
>If that last video is not produced with a racial element in mind then why is it titled that way? Is that the randomer generator?
The nationalities are exactly that, nationalities. Turns out people from India like to watch porn with Indian people. I even heard rumors that some people even find people attractive who look different then the ones they grew up with. Kinky stuff, i know.
>What is the issue with making such allegations? If someone believes that illegal sexual violence is taking place then I would only ever encourage them to speak up about it.
>> They also call "Teens" category child porn
>Which page to they do this on? I can't find it.
page 20 >(« teen », la catégorie pédopornographique étant une des plus populaires),
If you think you are able to find actual illegal stuff (let alone a child porn category) on any of these sites, go call the police now and file a report. All of these sites now have production studios for every clip on file, which means people who will go to jail over this. Including the site operators if they actually supplied people with a childporn category.
The fact that you arent should say everything about the credibility of the report. This is by all means an important topic, too important in fact to base any discussion on this utter nonsense.
The rest of the report could be spot on and you still couldnt do anything with it given these ludicrous and false claims.
edit: Didnt realize you switched back from racist to racial. Cheap shot.
They also call "Teens" category child porn, racial categories racist and allege illegal sex practices. Not sure how deep you want to dive into the shades of bullshit. Its a smear piece, the study as well as the article. I am hard pressed finding anything that could function as a reasonable base for discussion. And given the amount of nonsense i am not optimistic that this would be time well spend.
edit: Or here Aljazeera https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgDiW2ELx7k
Does anyone know if there are any other quality British newspapers left? At least some of it seems to be due to government interference.
In case you are talking heavy machinery in the lumber yard, alcohol is a no go there now. School friend of mine lost his apprenticeship due to liver problems ~ 15 years ago. It was considered too dangerous to have him work with saws as it couldnt be ruled out that he could pass out and fall into one. Relative of mine also lost his job as a truck driver due to substance abuse despite it not reaching the threshold for loosing his driver license.
This is not to say there arent deadly accidents in Germany. Friend of mine builds electrical substations and the company has regular (deadly) high voltage accidents. Roughly one or two a year since he has been there (not on his site but across all projects of the company). Sadly often unskilled laborers that didnt understand the safety instructions due to language barriers. So falling through grids covering open high voltage or digging up a line.
Since it has been mentioned elsewhere that the threat of lawyers is higher in the US, in Germany you are personally liable in many industries. So those dead workers lead to criminal investigations into the people in charge which can mean years in prison and fines. Technically the company is banned from helping with the fines but there seem to be some bonus payments happening if your company isnt a complete shit. Its still not something you risk as it means you will have a few horrible years in front of you even if you end up being cleared.
Edit: That liability, which also covers shortcomings during the build process discovered later is the reason he is currently looking for another job.
*Amazing videos, can really recommend them. https://www.youtube.com/@USCSB/videos
More precisely you get one company. After countless iterations of mergers and buyouts its almost exclusively "ethical capital partners". Producer and sites.
Regarding your point of ignoring sex workers, this tends to become quite despicable quickly. There are some crusaders out there that are doing their best to criminalize sexwork entirely as an end in itself. At the cost of the sex workers. It was quite visible with years of sabotage of the liberal German prostitution laws. They turned working from your own home into a bureaucratic impossibility to then argue with economically exploitative situations of bigger brothels against prostitution entirely. Which gets you back to women working from hotels illegally, which gets you back to human trafficking.
https://www.donacarmen.de/ has been reporting about this for 25 years now. How these women are treated out of political calculus is plain disgusting. Which likely explains why none of these people talk to them and just about them. Once you weaponize safeguards meant to protect sexworkers against them there isnt much ambiguity about your intentions left.
The willful ignorance of the dissonance between proclaimed intention and consequences is one of the scariest phenomenons i have experienced and its among proper mob mentality turning in a charged violence prone environment.
Being a bit of a smartass (OFCOURSE just as a teen :) i prodded a bit when some family friend got into some superficial moral signaling about the evils of child labor. I asked how exactly the alternative looks without social safety nets in the relevant regions. Being convinced of having the moral high ground an emotional fever set in and it went as far as a "Well maybe then they should all starve!". Pretty sure i saw the realization of what i just goaded out and if hateful stares could kill i would have been a goner. It has been almost two decades now and the relationship has never recovered. I know some seriously scary people but this is up there.
edit: Sorry for the late edits, was hard to read.
I find him to be incredibly inspiring and "As we may think" even more so. The gravitas is palpable and reading this paper is one of these moments when "standing on the shoulders of giants" feels very much true.
edit: Regarding the memorandum, i found the following quote by Peierls especially chilling:
>Any competent nuclear physicist would have come out with very similar answers to ours if he had been asked: "What is the likely fission cross-section of pure U235? What critical size for separated U235 follows from this? What will be the explosive power of such a mass? How much industrial effort would be needed to do the separation? And would the military value be worthwhile?" The only unusual thing that Frisch and I did at this point was ask those questions.
Its hard to overstate how important it is to not make asking these kind of questions necessary again. I am doubtful about humanities chances for survival otherwise.
Much of the price of that is coming from not breaking the formed patterns during harvest.
Couldnt you say the same about pen and pencil? Or any other medium? Turning imagination into something physical/digital/real always entails loss. This might be a matter of a few more iterations of better usability. If you are able to put the the limits of the machine representation of your imagination into words they might iteratively vanish. You wont connect your imagination to a machine but to words.
Posts were also about creativity and design in the context of copyright thus the focus on economics. Art for its own sake as a personal pursuit doesnt really relate to that perspective. Unless you want to trade in other currencies (fame and number of impressions) in which case its the age old competition of what is able to speak to people on a deeper level. For which the representation is often less important then the idea / perspective and how that is able to resonate with people. For that the medium is just that, a medium.
That sounds like part of it is subsidies. I talked with somebody at a electricity supplier a few years back and he mentioned possibly adding tarrifs aimed at grid load balancing in the future. So cheaper power for stuff like freezers if you turn their control over to the supplier. What you describe sounds similar.
