Claims of AGI imply that LLM's have intelligence. They don't, they are fancy probability machines. They don't THINK the way we do, they just do 200 matrix multiplications until their training data is massaged into what you need. They don't dream, they don't remember what you tell them. Even if you write one sentence, 'attention' means they will ignore half of what you say and key in on the wrong thing. This just happened to me today on a frontier model.

I'm not saying that AGI is impossible, but the focus on LLM's is probably not the right approach. I don't think we will ever make it until we understand the human mind better.

I use Linux computers in this way all the time. If you have a computer with a wifi chip, congrats, you have a reverse wifi router.

I'm in the same boat, this is a whole thing right now. There is some kinda class action in Europe which will hopefully make them pay up or deliver something useful. I think a Refund plus interest plus a hefty fine for lying would be a good start.

I had a day 1 crashloop with KWin on the 2nd desktop, but on day 2 some package update fixed it. Honestly it isn't the first time Fedora upgrades have messed something up for me either but I do think it's more stable than the average Ubuntu release, not that I've upgraded ubuntu in like 5 yrs.

I respectfully decline, I had macbook Pro m1 or 2 and the screen went black after 1 year and was quoted 1k to fix it. I spent that 1k on a linux laptop instead and that's been going strong for 3 years.

I can sort of visualize an aero improvement. If wind hits you flat on it goes all around and right against you, and it can bump into itself and then back on you since it's almost directionless. However if you have 'needles' coming out it gives the wind a 'direction' other than straight at you, lessening the pressure against your front.

I think the next best thing is an automatic turret that fires salt bullets or something, maybe AI. Hopefully it doesn't take an eye out, but if it took out like 1million mosquitoes for 1 eye, worth it?

It's sad because it removes choice from users over what OS to run. People that only use windows are going and throwing their old computers away.

Once you find out that the notch can hide app items it makes you want to throw your computer out of a window.

It's like this. You eventually got Starcraft2 to work. That means Linux can run Starcraft2, it's in the "Runs" category. Games like League of Legends, which have kernel level anti cheat, are in the "Won't Run" category.

I think once we get off LLM's and find something that more closely maps to how humans think, which is still not known afaik. So either never or once the brain is figured out.

Dang, seems like a completely different world than the one I live in. Honestly I would prefer it if we were able to teach our kids personal responsibility to this level, I actually believe people can be that mature by age 7 and you know whether a kid is a rule breaker or not by that point.

You know what OS doesn’t handle the notch? OSX. It happily throws the system tray icons right back there, with an obscure work around to bring them back. Software quality at Apple these days…

Ha, well I figured if I was going to die a lot, may as well be having a fresh experience. I play primarily Wizard and my favorite part is, I don't have to carry 100 daggers, and quarterstaff seems actually useful.

I was a big fan of NH until 3.6, now it is too difficult so I switched to Evilhack which has been a breath of fresh air.
