Anecdotally I find it's best when the wind is offshore and there is low tidal movement. But there are other factors at play, such as rainfall, etc..
This is one source I found (for wave height): https://www.aviso.altimetry.fr/en/data/products.html, however it was not clear on the website whether it was paid or not.
Another one I had a poke around with: https://www.ecmwf.int/en/forecasts/datasets/wmo-essential (trying to read Grib2)
The challenge I've had is the same, the data format that a lot of these sources provide is in "academic" formats like GRIB, NetCDF etc.. and I've spent a not-insignificant amount of time trying to work through all these formats and what they represent.
I think most people look back fondly on UO who played it in its prime, but I don't know whether the state of things today would allow something even close to capturing that feeling.
When WoW came out it felt like the game was some sort of theme park rather than an actual secondary world. I couldn't bring myself to get invested in it like I was with UO.
One thing I'd love to be able to do is to do the classic thing of rendering things mostly as html templates on server side, but serving up JS for particular page components. I also don't want to use node for SSR if at all possible, but seems to be the only route available.
That way I can easily support non-js users of the app (bing struggles to index my site at all). It used to be a lot easier to do this, but I guess it's out of vogue now!
The error returned is `Type '"1"' is not assignable to type 'number'.`
I've also used the layout library (react-grid-layout) with great success for my toy lorikeet alerting dashboard project: https://github.com/cetra3/lorikeet-dash
I had to implement a `Lowercase` type which is just a string that can only be lowercase (for case insensitive searches). After implementing standard traits like `Into` and `Deref`, it just acted as a standard string. That way I could guarantee at compile time that things are lowercase, but still have the flexibility of strings.
Another common idiom I have seen is to compose finite state machines using enums. You can only create a particular state from another state etc..
Source code to the blog is on github: https://github.com/cetra3/cetra3.github.io
I haven't had a need to customise zola itself, as the template language it uses (tera) is quite usable with macros etc...
mdbook (https://github.com/rust-lang/mdBook) uses elasticlunr (http://elasticlunr.com/) as an inverted index and is generated statically.
The same is done for zola (https://www.getzola.org/documentation/content/search/).
I did cheat a little bit and used SpectreCSS but have really tried to squeeze down the page size as much as possible.
> Use a hardened bastion server or a VPN to restrict direct access to the Salt master from the internet
Is this SSH access or is this access to the salt master from minions? Or just access in general?
- the notification was a week ago to a small mailing list, which is tucked away on their site
- no notification to the registry to when you go to download salt (at least I never received an email, but still get plenty of marketing spam)
- no posts on social media as far as I can tell, I couldn't find a tweet, anything on reddit, or anything on hn.
- they only blogged about it on their official site yesterday, way after damage had been done
- one week's notice between the initial announcement and the patch coming out. The patch being released is basically a disclosure of the vulnerability
- the patch was released late Thursday early Friday depending on your timezone, giving attackers the weekend head start
- the official salt docker images were only patched yesterday
- You can't get a patch for older versions without filling out a form and supplying details
- Ubuntu and other repositories are still vulnerable
We use this to embed some nice dashboards & run queries to great effect. A very powerful tool!
I also feel like the language used in wg-dynamic is very dismissive and counter productive:
> WireGuard currently uses static addresses everywhere. This is because that is mostly a better way to design your network. But in some cases, insane people want dynamic IP addresses or other dynamic configuration.
https://github.com/WireGuard/wg-dynamic/blob/master/docs/ide...
So now I'm insane for not wanting to configure every connected client?
The project future is obviously in flux with this transition, but I am hoping myself & other contributors will be able to carve a path forward.
I'd be interested in knowing whether the commons clause license has been challenged as the wording is rather simple
Looks like they are going to monetise this technology at some point given the disclaimer at the bottom of the page. This is not wrong. But it feels like a PR exercise dressed up as something academic which is a little creepy.

When I was playing an early version of HL2 VR if you walk right up to the wall, the crowbar you are holding goes through it but the wall stays at the same distance. A very weird feeling.
VSCode with vim plugin handles this well with the Use Ctrl Keys option set. If you're in insert mode, ctrl + v will paste, otherwise ctrl + v will start visual mode. If you are selecting text, ctrl + c will copy.
