cedws··on Google Antigravity introduces Boost deep reasoning (/boost)
Probably like many big companies, internal politics, empire building. It would explain why their AI products are such a mess to navigate.
cedws··on Has early Scratch experience led to fulfilling careers?
When I was at school I never really saw the tools intended to get kids interested in CS work out. In fact, many of my classmates began to hate programming because of the Python coursework we had to do. (terrible language choice for classes by the way, because beginners don’t understand how to indent their code and Python is unforgiving in this regard.)
cedws··on 'Mad honey' that can stop your heart is being sold online
I’m surprised it’s even legit. I’ve heard of aphrodisiac honey that’s just been laced with viagra.

cedws··on Claude Code reduces it's weekly limit by 17% – compared to today
I doubt it’s compute, Anthropic just bought a huge amount of capacity from xAI. I mean SpaceX. No, I mean SpaceXAI.

They’re trying to stop bleeding cash.

cedws··on Understanding ChatGPT Work
Are you not worried giving it full control of your computer? I would be terrified. If I’ve got my eyes on it, I can at least stop it before it does something stupid.
cedws··on Show HN: Delete yourself from data brokers without a subscription
The problem I see with the tools in general is that to make the request you need to hand over information. Yeah, it might get deleted from their database, but now your info is probably in some intern’s mailbox who’s part of the distribution group.
cedws··on Sleepwalker: Passive Backdoor with Its Own Command Language
I want to make a public blacklist of people who pass off AI writing as their own words. In my view it is tantamount to fraud. It should be disclosed at the top of the page if AI was used.
cedws··on My software development workflow is AI now & it feels exhausting and soulless
Any archive link? Can’t view it on mobile without logging in.
cedws··on Apple introduces M6 and M5 Ultra
Just like the computer revolution, it will make a small number of people richer and put everyone else at their mercy. In real terms the average person is far poorer than in the 20th century. Used to be able to buy a home and support a family on a single income. Now it can take two just to survive.
cedws··on Fences, Not Sandboxes
This is beyond AI psychosis; this is full AI schizophrenia.
cedws··on Omacom Foundation funding hits $10M
Or KDE for over 10 years: https://ev.kde.org/reports/ev-2025
cedws··on Omacom Foundation funding hits $10M
$10M for a Linux rice… seriously?
cedws··on I'm becoming AI-blind
Once you see past the illusion I think there’s no going back. AI writing style is just dogshit. This hype wave is based on the belief that we’re inching closer to AGI but seems to me we just increasingly struggle to define intelligence. LLMs seem smart because they can pump out thousands of LOC quickly, and enthral you with fancy words and bullet points. I don’t fall for the intelligence illusion anymore.
cedws··on Codex on AWS bedrock bug causing 10x charges
It’s called the singularity because all your money vanishes into a black hole.
cedws··on Feature Request: Support AGENTS.md
For what reason are they encouraging it to use bash over the purpose-specific tools?
cedws··on Qwen3.8 27B at 256K: 50 TPS on a 24 GB GPU
Apparently we've blown way past the Turing test and approaching AGI and yet LLM-generated text still sticks out like a sore thumb. Maybe LLMs aren't that good at writing after all.
cedws··on Incident with Github.com
And most of that growth is just garbage. I'm not even anti-AI, but just look at the quality of projects on GitHub these days. The site is full of spam, it's not a place for professionals anymore.
cedws··on Has the hallucination problem in AI been solved?
Sorry to be flippant but when somebody makes their argument based on their experience with “ChatGPT” I automatically assume their opinion is completely unqualified. ChatGPT is not a model, and your comment gives no indication of when this happened. Whether it happened last week or last year makes a big difference. As does how ChatGPT wraps the LLM and how you interact with it.
cedws··on Cursor is now a part of SpaceX
Isn't it SpaceXAI now? I lost track.
cedws··on DeepSeek Harness developer preview
Guh, why TypeScript? If code is free now why would you choose a transpiled language with a huge runtime and nightmare security over something fast and lean?
cedws··on Controversial creators are benefiting from monetization programs run by Meta
Social media platforms have been paying out for attention seeking behaviour for a long time now. It’s why every YouTube video now has the same lame shocked face, red arrows, and clickbait title. It’s why assholes film themselves intentionally pissing people off for TikTok. It’s a whole category called nuisance tubing.

I remember during COVID I saw a number of YouTubers swing from producing normal content into conspiracy shit. Their views ballooned. I saw a nasty feedback loop where the more controversial content received more engagement, hence more ad revenue, leading to more of it being produced.

These platforms are actively degenerating society; there’s a reason the CCP is keeping tight control and reportedly rebalancing things to promote educational creators on China’s.

cedws··on OpenAI launches ChatGPT desktop app for Linux
How do you somehow make a cross OS browser platform only work on one OS in the first place?
cedws··on I was accused of using AI in my dissertation but I wrote it all myself
AI “detection” tools should be banned. They have the potential to cause as much harm as AI plagiarism itself. Non technical people don’t understand the shortcomings of such tools, they treat the verdict as truth.
cedws··on London Underground begins scanning passengers' faces
The surveillance of China without the prosperity or safety. At least in China I can leave my bag or laptop out of sight for a moment, same cannot be said of my home city of London. What good is all of this when hard criminals are let out of prison after 6 months. Clown country.
cedws··on Musk's Daily Starship Problem
People need to learn any time these CEOs say “probably”/“maybe”/“could”, it’s a careful selection of words intended to pump the stock in a way they can’t be sued. It was BS from the beginning, there was never going to be a daily launch. It’s what Musk does best, he projects a futuristic vision he has no means of realistically achieving.
cedws··on Show HN: Mcptoon – Token-efficient MCP CLI client
Brand new GitHub account, brand new HN account. I stay far away from projects like this these days, they can easily be malicious. GitHub needs some kind of indicator for projects authored by tenured developers with a real identity.
cedws··on Security Vulnerability in Pioneer Rekordbox
I dabbled with it for a while and hated how I couldn’t work with the library programatically. A few people found a way to decrypt the database (yes, it’s encrypted for obfuscation, rolls eyes) and manipulate it but it’s akin to brain surgery.
cedws··on Muse Glimmer: 30B-parameter model optimized for always-on local agent workflows
True.
cedws··on Muse Glimmer: 30B-parameter model optimized for always-on local agent workflows
Apparently Americans haven’t got the memo yet that the world is moving closer to China.
