cebert··on Ask HN: Will you take the $5k from Trump?
First off, I find it highly unlikely the Republicans will win the midterms. I fundamentally am opposed to anything that could be interpreted as buying votes.
cebert··on Meta VR Glasses
It looks like a hardware, but I’ll never buy it because it’s associated with Meta. They have lost my privacy trust.
cebert··on Linux support is coming to Snapdragon X2 Series
Is your computer compromised? I see no banners.
cebert··on Trump appointing an AI czar amid concerns over the rapidly developing tech
I think he should me more concerned about the midterms.
cebert··on XCancel service is suspended until further notice
You go where your people are. I think it’s very reasonable to post updates on Facebook and X.
cebert··on Jeff-a-Sketch
Yea, that’s a cool idea. You could even make some fun animations.
cebert··on Mullenweg has returned as CEO after attempted board ouster
This sounds like a mistake and a part of Automatic. This is not a good look for the brand.
cebert··on We must pace the frontier
Dario does a good job of addressing that in this essay. He lists several potential levels of global agreements that could be beneficial to all parties. For example, having models capable of bioterrorism hurts both the US and its “adversaries”. It’s likely we could get global agreement that these capabilities benefit nobody.

I believe Dario has good intentions regarding global agreements. However, I find it difficult believing government’s public statements will match their private behaviors. I would bet that the US government is developing models with potentially devastating capabilities because they cannot guarantee that other countries won’t do the same. Maybe we’ll end up having something like mutually assured destruction with AI models similar to what we have today with nuclear weapons.

cebert··on Automattic's board forces CEO Matt Mullenweg into leave of absence
I don’t have any skin in the game with this, and I don’t use WP. It appears Matt needs help right now. I don’t think he’s reacting rationally based on what he’s posting online or allegedly inside his former organization. I don’t know him, but it’s hard seeing people in a difficult time who need help.
cebert··on Muse – Meta’s personal AI agent
No, it's a great point. I think we all live in bubbles and aren't aware of what others around us are doing.
cebert··on Muse – Meta’s personal AI agent
Using ChatGPT.com for coding tasks has to be a joke in 2026, right? I assumed everyone is using Codex/Claude Code/OpenCode/Pi by now if you’re using these tools.
cebert··on Muse – Meta’s personal AI agent
I still have a Facebook account to stay connected with my family and friends. However, I have no trust in Meta to handle my health or financial information, as I am quite certain they will sell or use it for marketing purposes.

On the other hand, I’m always surprised how little many seem to care about data privacy.

cebert··on Muse – Meta’s personal AI agent
I have a hard time seeing how Meta is betting people will trust them to serve as their AI agent provider. Based on their track record data privacy and tracking, why would I trust them with my most sensitive data? That’s a hard sell.
cebert··on VMware Intros Private AI Cloud
Since Broadcom purchased VMware, I want nothing to do with them. I wouldn’t consider their products for anything.
cebert··on There's No Limit to How Bad Code Can Get
If you have ever worked with low-cost offshore contractors, you know this it true…
cebert··on Nitter has more working instances than before the takedowns
I agree. I think the UI is the best part. It seems more responsive to me too.
cebert··on Lake Ontario ("Lake America")
I apologize to my Canadian friends. This is embarrassing.
cebert··on Tell HN: Remember to Change Your Filters
I do it monthly because it’s easier to remember that way.
cebert··on Ask HN: Why does HN hide the best comments and promote the worst?
I’m sure everybody’s different, but I don’t particularly care about people’s karma scores when looking at discussion threads.

While no place is perfect, I think the HN community and moderators do a decent job of moderating threads and preventing flame wars while also supporting the sharing of different views.

With the rise of AI, there’s a noticeable uptick of bots attempting to submit articles and comments to HN. You rarely see this low-quality content make it to the front page. That’s a lot of thankless community work.

cebert··on Quanta.Ai.Code.Editor
Please enlighten me how this isn’t AI slop…
cebert··on ChatGPT Work Tool and Skill Reference
Simon, thanks for all the great work you do. I definitely appreciate your contributions to discussion threads here as well as your blog. I learned so much from you.
cebert··on Ditch the 40-Ounce Water Bottle: You're Probably Hydrated Enough
One benefit of drinking regularly is it forces me to get up and use the restroom. As a software engineer who sits in front of a computer for long periods of time, I think forcing myself to get up regularly and take a break is a positive.
cebert··on Claude Code is going reduce limits by 25% from September 14
You can make an account for free on X and Reddit. Every time someone posts from either platform folks complain.

cebert··on Show HN: Claude Code Skills – Solving context bloat
> Get the Full 84-Skill Pack on Gumroad ($49)

Uh, no thanks. I’m not wasting $49 on AI slop.

cebert··on Bill Gates says world has "no plan" on AI in new essay
I don’t think anybody associated with Epstein is a leader that we should follow.
cebert··on Show HN: Seedeep – I couldn't see what Claude Code was doing, so I drew it
Wow, the astonishingly bad AI slop in the readme here is something else.

cebert··on Suno introduces song download limits
While this is a bummer, their current model was too good to be true.
cebert··on How to Outsmart AI When It's Tracking Your Workday
I didn’t realize how important putting meetings on your calendar for one-off work conversations you have are when you at work uses AI productivity monitoring. I need to do a better job of that.
