I did the same with a dumpster find in 2020. I saw the guy hauling and depositing it, so I asked and got it (2011 iMac 27" with maxed out specs at ordering time - radeon 9800, i7, 16gb ram, ssd+2tb hdd. Almost mint condition).
It had of course 2 issues:
- backlight was dead on one half of the screen
- infamous radeon BGA soldering issue, intermittent glitches & os freezing when it had warmed up
I resoldered the backlight connector (apparently broke off the pcb under mechanical stress) and swapped in a used $20 Nvidia Quadro that I had flashed with nick's hacked rom from the above thread.
I did not want to do some hackintosh mods to the OS so i went with (iirc) mavericks and sold it on classifieds for $430 after noone in my circle wanted it. I was also able to sell off the mxm radeon 9800/2GB for $30, placed the ad just for curiosity about it's resale value in such a broken state. :)
The money was just by-catch, the real joy always comes from resurrecting broken things (for me).

Here is the uneditorialized headline. Especially it is called dial plate, not clock face.
I e.g. avoid those if possible and we've moved out of an (inflation) indexed lease contract recently. Now back to just a regular (non-stepped/indexes) indefinite contract as usual.
As to why we dont buy: We like the flexibility and also property prices here make it hard to get sth. decent in comparison to renting.
Apart from that: it depends if the snapped belt just flies away or if it obstructs/blocks the rear sprocket (very dangerous instant blockage of the read wheel). A chain is probably more prone to that than a belt.
Fastest was/is about 175mph, but that is rare (and really uncomfortable on a naked bike). Most dangerous encounters are inner City during commute times when theres lots of "angry" drivers and the same on highways. When the road is empty, there is less danger. What I am uncomfortable with are tight bends with fear of approaching traffic that may cut corners, lane splitting is also not for the faint of heart and dirt in corners. And "idiots" that try to challenge me.
Edit: Also, my most used bikes (Ducati & KTM dualsports bike) have all the latest electronics, which makes a huge difference in dangerous situations (eg. slippery corner, emergency braking)
Edit2: what helps against fear? For me: Riding more, thoughout the year and security training on a closed track to keep a feeling for edge cases and not lose it when there's e.g. minor slide. After I kissed the tarmac in 2019 I did exactly that (got a new bike with latest electronics and kept riding, took some 3k miles to fully overcome the fear). Also: I only ride in full gear (helmet, gloves, riding suit with full set of protectors and motorcycle boots)
I had a Dalla Corte mini as main machine but couldnt resist a great offer and upgraded to Ascaso Baby T recently :)
But even todays machines (depending on manufacturer and origin) are very serviceable. Especially italian made ones.
Side question: what can be done on Windows in such a case?
Remember when priests and teachers condemmned the group and Life of Brian back in the day?

Here are the ingredients:
Feldspar
Sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate
Oxalic acid
It is reversible and you can "wipe" it off using acid and abrasives but it's tedious as the metal adheres really good to the ceramic.
