cdurth··on Behold the pawpaw
The magic is a tropical tasting fruit! I have a tree and it's tough to actually get one of the fruits when they are ripe. This year I got lucky with a few that feel into my fenced garden section and I got them before the critters.

I can't get 3.8 to exit thinking loops. It will just think and think and think on the most trivial topics. I wanted it to port a speed test powershell script to c#. Claude opus 5 completes it under 60 seconds. I let 3.8 churn about 6 different times for 30+ minutes and it never wrote a single line of code to disk. It wrote lots of lines in thinking.

Any tips?

cdurth··on Asian AI startups launch Mythos-like models
Sure, I understand the subsidization. Their limits are practically unusable and the marketing of "Focused working sessions for regular coding, review, research, and analysis throughout the week." is pretty disingenuous then.
cdurth··on Asian AI startups launch Mythos-like models
I have been using the coplay MCP for Unity.
cdurth··on Asian AI startups launch Mythos-like models
Not sure if you meant Fable/Mythos instead of Opus, but I can comfortable work several hours a day using Opus on Max-Ultracode on the CC 10x.
cdurth··on Asian AI startups launch Mythos-like models
I tried the Fugu models with some real world tales in C# and unity using mcp and open code. I exhausted the $20 plan 5 hour window in one prompt to review my theme system and plan some color changes. So I upgraded to the $100 to see the implementation and result. Well the result was worse than Opus, incredibly slow, and I ended up exhausting the new 5 hour window and have used 35% of the weekly now and it hardly created something opus was able to do at a fraction of the time and cost.

Do what you wish with this info, but it seems to be a complete waste of $$.

cdurth··on Microsoft starts canceling Claude Code licenses
Yup I run Max only now. It's closer to the "old" Claude but still nerfed in my opinion.
cdurth··on Why Walmart still doesn't support Apple Pay
Yes they 100% associate the card number with your account if it's on file. I have never used Walmart pay and use my physical card only. The strange thing I've noticed is that there is a failure rate of probably 20% where it doesn't associate me.
cdurth··on Show HN: Dock – Slack minus the bloat, tax, and 90-day memory loss
I'm in a similar boat but with Telegram.

I don't understand the jellyfin hype tbh. Every year I spin it up to test and am always disappointed. If you only consume your media on a web browser, then 100% recommend jellyfin. If you consume on anything else the apps are bare bones and seriously lacking, potentially not even existing. I despise the frequent and ugly Plex UI changes they push out, but the app works on every device and TV brand I've had.

The take away is the app ecosystem needs some serious bolstering. That's the holdup for most people I know who are still sticking with Plex.

cdurth··on Odoo: Open-Source ERP
Yup, came here to offer the same sentiment on the SMB ERP systems I've worked with.
cdurth··on AI agents are starting to eat SaaS
I feel that large corps have guard rails that will limit this from happening. For SMB's, this is not a new problem. Gritty IT guys have been doing this for decades. I inherit these bootstrapped reporting systems all the time. The issue is when that person leaves, it is no longer maintainable. I've yet to come across a customer who has had any sort of usable documentation. The process then repeats itself when I take over, and presumably when I'm finished. With a SaaS product, you are at least paying for some support and visibility of the processes. I'm not really trying to make a point other than this is not a new, but still intriguing problem, and not sure that LLMs will be some god answer, as the organizations have trouble determining what they even need.
cdurth··on Show HN: Jukebox – Free, Open Source Group Playlist with Fair Queueing
Definitely not to skirt auto play and screen off issues ;) fun to see this is still a problem being solved. A friend and I made the same thing 10 years ago. We opted to force the screen on and play the videos to stay "legit". Explored licensing music for monetization and there was a mid 5 figure minimum to bootstrap so the project died.
cdurth··on Show HN: Jukebox – Free, Open Source Group Playlist with Fair Queueing
Ripping the video to s3, naughty naughty. Be expecting your YouTube API key to be revoked and DMCA.
cdurth··on Show HN: Claude Code Usage Monitor – real-time tracker to dodge usage cut-offs
Maybe the few that were WFH prior to AI. I just calculated my carbon output for commuting and going to lunch daily versus WFH and using AI and it's wayyy less. Let's all save earth, stay home and use AI.
cdurth··on Two new PebbleOS watches
I might be missing something, but how do you specify color options for the Core Time 2?

cdurth··on Show HN: Puck 0.18 adds drag-and-drop for CSS grid and Flexbox
Not the same. Bootstrap Studio is a stand alone design tool. This is a framework to be integrated into an app.
cdurth··on I had to take down my course-swapping site or be expelled
Not just random biloilerplate/framework code either. A framework his dad created. So with this logic his dad did the majority of the project.
cdurth··on DivestOS ROM shuts after ten years
Same :( been using it the last few months as my daily driver.
cdurth··on Query Apple's FindMy network with Python
You could definitely use meshtastic devices to do this

cdurth··on Roku says hackers gained access to 576k accounts in latest data-breach incident
Both. I use bitwarden with yubikey.
cdurth··on Roku says hackers gained access to 576k accounts in latest data-breach incident
I received the email saying i was included. I use a PW manager.
cdurth··on Protecting Your Roku Account
I call BS on this. I just received the email that state:

> There is no indication that Roku’s systems have been compromised or that the login credentials used in the attack were obtained from Roku.

I use a PW manager, they didn't get these credentials from another source.

cdurth··on Privacy focused platform Skiff is joining Notion, Skiff to be sunset
eh not really, for me it was the fact it took forever to implement some of the features. I also don't use the address much or any of their other features so was looking for a cheaper solution.
cdurth··on Privacy focused platform Skiff is joining Notion, Skiff to be sunset
Their policy states that free accounts will be deleted if not active for 6 months.

I literally just migrated from Proton yesterday. Oh well, Tuta now i guess...
cdurth··on Show HN: Strich – Barcode scanning for web apps
I have built 3-4 warehouse scanning applications using a range of bluetooth hardware and BYOD and zebra scanners. From my exp, this product misses the mark for 2 reasons. 1) internet access for license checking. Every warehouse I encountered had enough dead zones to warrant offline first. 2) Pricing seems a bit high. Maybe the target demographic is clients with hundreds of scanners, but this solution wouldn't make sense for small-mid size businesses. Zebra scanners will continue to work and scan barcodes 6 years from now. Transparency on "enterprise" costs would be nice. If i had a ballpark for price for maybe device breakpoints, id consider inquiring. But as it stands, i would advocate for hardware products and quickly move on.

I have a TCL that does this. Use it every night.
