What is it emulating exactly?
It works better for me if I have multiple copies of the repo with their own supporting environment like repo-a, repo-b, etc. going to app-a.foo.localhost, app-b.foo.localhost, etc.

They added so much new syntax to C# to the point it really is starting to feel like C++++ whereas Java has modernized itself without massively expanding its syntax and modifiers.
Zero changes needed and now I don’t need to keep a daemon running.

I feel like Fedora has the same pragmatic approach (allows non-free drivers, packages, etc.) and is just as easy to use.
That’s the point the OP is trying to make about the advantage of open source
