cbg0··on Third Drone Shot Down in Three Days in Romanian Territory
It's kind of a childish view of the world; The expectation is that all the "quality" people will rise up and fix the problems of the country, but my perspective is that the political class is just a reflection of the people, so the existing idiots will just be replaced by new idiots, unless you raise the average somehow.
cbg0··on Third Drone Shot Down in Three Days in Romanian Territory
It's not meant to. That's why Ukraine receives the support it does, because they take the brunt of it.
cbg0··on Third Drone Shot Down in Three Days in Romanian Territory
The comparison is not really relevant in this case, as the area over which the drone is destroyed was taken into account on all three drone events.
cbg0··on Third Drone Shot Down in Three Days in Romanian Territory
We're not at the point of making those kind of decisions in Romania, fortunately. Politically right now it would be very dangerous to say that "some of you may die".
cbg0··on Third Drone Shot Down in Three Days in Romanian Territory
Absolutely not the ideal weapon to fight them, and better(cheaper) options are coming to shoot down the drones, but until then the price is irrelevant as long as you're preventing loss of human life.

It's never a good time to have flaming wreckage fall from the sky.
cbg0··on Third Drone Shot Down in Three Days in Romanian Territory
The oligarchs aren't the ones controlling Putin, it's the other way around. But yes, escalation with NATO is a very poor idea, given Russia's struggles with a single non-NATO country.
cbg0··on Third Drone Shot Down in Three Days in Romanian Territory
To counter this conspiracy of yours: Ukraine was in a much poorer position in the past and didn't resort to this type of jamming with the hopes of dragging NATO into the conflict. Today, they are in a much stronger position, striking deep into Russia and even the Caspian sea https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/iran-says-ukrainian-att...
cbg0··on Third Drone Shot Down in Three Days in Romanian Territory
A safe option is to avoid trusting an aggressor, which has no business being in Ukraine and that can pack up their bags and leave at any time.
cbg0··on Third Drone Shot Down in Three Days in Romanian Territory
As part of the SAFE EU financial instrument Romania is spending a lot of cash on defense measures for drones and other armament[1]. Currently still relying heavily on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flakpanzer_Gepard for anti-air as well as fighter jets with air-to-air missiles, as these recent drones were all brought down by F-16s.

Aside from strategic targets, a lot of the civilian infrastructure is quite vulnerable to drone attacks as there's a huge border to cover and definitely not enough anti-drone tech deployed. It offers valuable information on response time.
cbg0··on Elevated Errors for Opus 5
https://finance.yahoo.com/technology/ai/articles/openai-lift...

There's less clear info about this from Anthropic's side, but given their frequent issues and lack of resets and overall less usage given to users on their subscriptions plans, it's a pretty simple conclusion to draw.

cbg0··on Elevated Errors for Opus 5
Anthropic would give out resets like OpenAI if they had capacity to do so, it's not like they haven't thought about doing the obvious.

OAI waits until overall cluster demand goes down before giving out a reset, they just happen to have much more spare capacity than Anthropic.

cbg0··on GM Backs Sodium Ion Batteries for U.S. Grid Storage
Probably in a year or so. CATL is expecting about 1GWh deployment by the end of the year and has contracts to deliver ~7GWh in Europe next year, so they're clearly ramping up production towards the end of this year.

It overthinks quite a bit above medium effort, try using that.

Nothing, this is why they have both.
cbg0··on Hacker wipes Romania's land registry database
An update from the land registry (the truthfulness of this remains to be seen depending on how fast this comes back online):

ANCPI announced that it had begun migrating its applications to Romania’s Government Cloud. The operation is being coordinated by the Special Telecommunications Service (STS) and is expected to be completed on Wednesday, July 22.

After the migration, authorized institutions will inspect the applications and data and prepare a report on the condition of the systems and any additional measures required. Based on that report, ANCPI will announce an estimated date for restoring its applications. Services will be brought back online gradually, according to operational priorities.

ANCPI says it is rebuilding its database from backup copies stored in several locations. The agency rejected reports suggesting that it did not have sufficient backups, explaining that the use of multiple storage locations provides redundancy and allows data to be restored after cybersecurity incidents.

According to ANCPI, affected systems must remain isolated until every identified vulnerability has been addressed. Although shutting down the services has caused temporary inconvenience, the agency says the measure was necessary to protect the data and ensure that operations restart safely and reliably.

The restoration of the IT infrastructure is described as a complex process being conducted in cooperation with the relevant authorities. ANCPI has also confirmed that a criminal investigation is underway, but no official conclusions can yet be released.

The agency warned that claims circulating publicly about the alleged consequences of the attack are not based on official information and do not reflect the current state of the investigation.

cbg0··on Exploit brokers pay $500k for WordPress RCEs. I found one with GPT5.6 and $25
Don't get all starry-eyed, the people owning those sites also have access to LLMs, so both the hacks and paydays are rare.
cbg0··on Codex Resets
They're performing the resets when the cluster load goes down and they have sufficient capacity to handle the reset.
cbg0··on EU ban on destruction of unsold clothes and shoes enters into application
Supermarkets are forced to discount soon-to-expire items which go into "bargain bins".
cbg0··on EU ban on destruction of unsold clothes and shoes enters into application
It can be made available online with a longer lead time if the manufacturers care enough about it. I guess it depends on whether the complexity is worth it, because if you're just selling cheap fast fashion then discounting/donating might still be worth it even if you produce excess, but more high-end brands probably won't stock uncommon sizes.
cbg0··on EU ban on destruction of unsold clothes and shoes enters into application
There are actually laws in EU countries to prevent this. Supermarkets have to discount food that is soon to expire instead of throwing it away, perishables from restaurants and fast food joints can be taken home by employees at the end of the day, and even donations to charities of said goods, or farms for produce unfit for human consumption is encouraged/regulated.
cbg0··on EU ban on destruction of unsold clothes and shoes enters into application
Donating to charity is cheaper than destroying.
cbg0··on EU ban on destruction of unsold clothes and shoes enters into application
You're arguing in favor of destroying unworn clothes instead of donating to charity or discounting them as somehow being good for business? The point of this is to control against wasteful business practices, not a ban on producing or selling clothes.

The EU is a $23 trillion economy, hardly a slouch even though it is underperforming.

The VW example is actually something you probably don't understand - they're failing because they're an inefficient business, not because of EU regulations or Germany not having a "good economy". Toyota produces almost twice as many vehicles per employee.

beep-boop, [citation needed] on that "95%".
cbg0··on Sleep regularity is a stronger predictor of mortality risk than sleep duration
People love nitpicking about scientific articles, it kind of exploded with the pandemic. Especially when the conclusions of the paper don't align with the expectations of the reader.

The way I see these is "these persons invested a lot of time putting this together and all I have to counter it are personal vibes", so unless my LLM of choice can find plenty of conflicting papers, I tend to assume it's reasonably valid work.

cbg0··on Codex starts encrypting sub-agent prompts
There was a recent Twitter post from Tibo @ OpenAI asking someone to share how to run GPT on Claude Code so they don't seem to be against it.
cbg0··on Codex starts encrypting sub-agent prompts
Is the prompt generated by the LLM to send to a sub-agent really your data?
