i just bought airpods max a few months ago and i wear them constantly (autism), basically only taking them off for sleeping (sometimes i do end up laying in bed with them on). i initially found them uncomfortable after several hours due to my glasses, but it went away after a week. really love these, and my only complaint really has been the lack of adaptive mode (and the ANC was also a bit weak but less of an issue) so am glad to see both of these issues solved. am definitely going to get these and probably give this pair to my girlfriend.

the lower cost in japan is due to the low performance of the yen and that model is locked to japanese only. theres a second model in japan that is closer to the price in the US that supports all languages.

I’ve been self hosting Element Call and use it to call my girlfriend (and also used it with another friend a few nights ago). I’ve had a few problems where when starting the call it seems to not connect but just trying again works, and that’s really the only issue i’ve had that I can think of since setting up a TURN server (before that it would completely fail sometimes, but that’s not Element Call’s fault)

Guess I’ll have to try convincing all my friends to move to Matrix.

Here they replaced all the markets that were staffed by people with these big vending machines that are 3 or 4 refrigerated cabinets (even chips are refrigerated). You pay, wait a bit for it to process it, and then it unlocks the doors and you grab whatever. And if it gets it wrong there’s no dispute process to tell it you didn’t pick something up (I think there is an email listed but I didn’t care enough the time it messed up to send an email). And half the time when you click the pay button to finish, it’ll complain about a door not locking.

Coincidentally, I was just looking at using Zotero on Linux this morning after having used it previously on Mac for some classes.

Doesn’t mean they’re failing because of interfering lidar though. If it’s something like them failing due to the road being blocked or something, it makes sense they’d fail together. Assuming they’re on the same OS, why would one know how to handle that situation and another not?
