Iowa City natives raise up! There has got to be less then a dozen of us (on Hacker News)!

Yep, you're correct. Panera had an issue where folks could scrap every user profile due to sequential profile ids. The bigger part of the exploit was they just openly exposed user data but making the profiles ids sequential made it really easy to scrap

Buddy I know went with Dell + Ubuntu. I watched him struggle with driver issues that give me hesitation to the idea of _not_ buying an all in one packaged system.

I was hoping to nerd snipe someone into giving me a better recommendation! Thank you :D

Likely the last straw that breaks the camels back for me.

* Have always had to do some mental gymnastics to rationalize the price increases for similar hardware

* MacOS has slowly been more and more hostile towards my user flow

* Butterfly keyboards and touchbar have made it more difficult for me to use

* Lack of memory upgrades (with steep price increases)

* And now we have a phoning home operation that raises privacy concerns and grinds my laptop to a halt :(

Been eyeing a System76 laptop for a while... https://system76.com/laptops/galago

That county had a breach in late November of last year too. https://www.kcci.com/article/dhs-data-breach-in-dallas-count...

I stopped biking into work because of the danger of getting hit. It's only about 7 miles for me, but on about a daily basis I would almost get hit. Paths that heavily interact with automobiles are not safe at all. Cars turning out/in crossing my path and stoplight intersections were a constant threat.

Never thought I would see a professor from my alma mater show up on the front page of HN! I could have maybe seen Dr. Wallingford (http://www.cs.uni.edu/~wallingf/) for his love of functional programming or Dr. McCormick (http://www.cs.uni.edu/~mccormic/) for contributions to ADA, but not Dr. O'Kane!

Took Database Systems from Dr. O'Kane. He was a pretty fun professor.

I did get the BTC. Thank you so much for you generosity. I have downloaded the Bitcoin-Qt and is downloading the block chain now.

I'm going to check out electrum and multibit next. Thanks!

Thanks for checking. I did get the bitcoins. Thank you! I am still very new to this and learning as I go.

If it was your intention to give people an easy way to break into the market, mission accomplished.

I was just using an online based wallet through blockchain.info.

Tried doing a search for my public key 18fyCm3vkftJ9nNgZ4SwoJkCuGVZQ2kZcE and had no luck finding the transaction.

When I get home tonight I need to check out these other wallets and get in touch with the owner. If I'm only out 10 bucks though on a gift card that I got for xmas. No sweat off my back.

*Oh, and thanks for the help!

tried out the site (had a card with 10 bucks) and tried creating a bitcoin wallet. no luck having the bitcoins show up in my wallet yet. I have a feeling I did something wrong...
