carsie··on I don’t belong in tech
Thank you for sharing your thoughts here, this is so well put and I completely second this.

I find the beauty of code is not in adhering to someones concept of elegantly written code, that only the coders see, but in the fact that it's living, and that over time your solution can evolve to become better than its intended purpose. Something observed to be perfect usually has a past that is often overlooked.

carsie··on London Startup Events – One Agenda
I'd be a little cautious about the domain name and the singling out of presence of beer and pizza (over other characteristics of the event). This just reinforces biases within our industry, without mentioning all other perks.

What about people who do not care about beer and pizza but care about London startup events?

What about the actual content of the meetup?

https://github.com/GordyD/3ree is a good starting point for React + Redux (+ RethinkDB).

I'm not sure you meant to say Closure language. Do you mean Clojure language? Or the Google Closure JavaScript library perhaps?

Either way I can relate to the confusion!

I love that the 2nd diagram (about Redux middleware) has Richard Ayoade's character from the IT Crowd in it. [1]

carsie··on How we built the new BBC Homepage
There are always mudslingers following change - its so easy to hate.

I for one think it is fantastic the BBC are sharing this information and am liking the direction they are taking. It might not be perfect - I too have experienced some issues with the site over the past few months - but I'd much rather a BBC that looks to refresh itself and attempt to improve the experience for their users. Glitches happen - as long as they are fixed then it is all good with me.
