All they do is make hot chip and lie.
carabiner··on NASA’s Mars Sample Return mission is dead
We cannot cancel anything ever because each program is only 0.001% of the federal budget. To do so would be stingy.
carabiner··on Retire in Peace
> McConnell would never be allowed to drive a car, babysit young children, or file his own taxes. Why, then, should a cognitively incapacitated 82-year-old retain one of the most important positions of power within the national government?
carabiner··on How SpaceX streamlined the Raptor engine
Don't get good crystal/grain structure from 3d printing.

Wait what was so bad about siri before? I've been using it for years on homepod, asking it for weather and setting timers.

carabiner··on How to buy a good car for $1000
Nowadays Toyotas are more expensive than fords and every Toyota hybrid has a year long waitlist. Everything is priced in today.
carabiner··on How to buy a good car for $1000
My first car was $1k bought in Michigan in 2006. It was a massive POS and took $1,500 in repairs to run reliably. I immediately bought a $7k car when I got a job.

carabiner··on Dating Apps Are Dying
I used dating apps in mexico and it felt like being back in the 2010s. This was with college-educated, bilingual mexican women. They were fun to talk to and responsive and wanted to hang out.
carabiner··on Apple Watch Ultra 4
I desperately wish apple would release a viable competitor to the garmin fenix line but they can't with that battery life. Garmin UX and software overall is such dogshit, and to have Apple UX with garmin raw performance (battery life, GPS tracking accuracy, activity modes) would be perfect. Apple could never though because the fenix was designed from the ground up as an embedded device microcontroller, whereas apple watch is a general purpose computer with a GPU.
carabiner··on WeatherNext 3
Dark sky was awful and all of its acclaim comes from confirmation bias. In seattle I'd see its forecast change by the minute. The whole point of a forecast is to know what will happen and if that keeps changing, then we do not know.
carabiner··on Protecting Engineers' Skills in the AI Era
Obsession with invisible/quiet/ghosts
carabiner··on The death of San Francisco's Market Street
Also like 3rd street promenade in LA. Is there a list of downtown or vibrant walkable areas that died during pandemic?
carabiner··on Mamdani Bans AI in NYC Schools
Yep, just like the tech elite. Peter Thiel limits his kids to 90 min/week screentime.
carabiner··on I wanna live an NPC life
I hate the emdash proliferation. We don't need to bring youtube jump cut editing to text.
carabiner··on Apple reveals 'shocking evidence' from ex-employee's MacBook in OpenAI suit
I wonder how many times this has happened without anyone being caught.
carabiner··on American Airlines mechanic Azriel “Al” Blackman has died
I didn't know wax was used as a medium anywhere today. Isn't it heavy and hard to write on?
carabiner··on The internet is kind of a predatory cesspit now
Everything on the Internet is designed to enrage or sexually arouse you as quickly as possible, including this article.

carabiner··on Universal health coverage could save $1T and 114k lives a year: study
Literally everything in the federal budget costs $10 or 10 cents per us citizen. Do you know calculus, or arithmetic? By this reasoning we cannot cancel anything.
