caiob··on Stop Spotify Surveillance
Regulation is the reason the EU can't become a hub for startups.
caiob··on Brazil scientists map forest regrowth keeping Amazon from collapse: Study
Despite what these “studies” say, the Amazon is NOT near a tipping point of destruction. In fact, it’s not even close. These publications fail to disclose that these fires are seasonal and will continue to happen without man-interference. These so-called protection of the Amazon is part of an agenda rich countries have to keep Brazil uncompetitive. How about we start rebuilding green space in Western Europe? How about we start planting more trees in southern California?
caiob··on Welcome Yari: MDN Web Docs has a new platform
The goal is to get more people involved. Doesn't it make sense to lower the entry barrier by implementing a more popular syntax?
caiob··on Mozilla lays off 250 employees while it refocuses on commercial products
Why does Mozilla insist on Pocket?
caiob··on Tim Cook: Technology companies need to take responsibility for chaos they create
Your comment makes no sense. What does tax negotiation have to do with chaos responsibility and privacy breach?
caiob··on Use zsh as the default shell on your Mac
Any beta testers here able to confirm whether Terminal.app supports True Color now?
caiob··on Stop using JWT for sessions (2016)
Classic hostility on HN. I'm out, I'll go find my tribe.
caiob··on Stop using JWT for sessions (2016)
You do control what clients (think client_id/secret) can use your APIs. Don't you? You figure it out from there.
caiob··on Stop using JWT for sessions (2016)
Seriously?
caiob··on Stop using JWT for sessions (2016)
Why not just "invalidate" the client? At best, you're making your application "safe" for 900ms or whatever the expiry date is.
caiob··on Poutine Dynamics (2016)
Nope. The OP is talking about cultural appropriation as if Quebec and Canada were 2 different places. They’re not.
caiob··on Poutine Dynamics (2016)
Yes. I don't understand the surprise.
caiob··on Poutine Dynamics (2016)
Last time I checked Quebec reaped the benefits of Alberta's oil sands... didn't they?
caiob··on macOS Mojave Drains Battery Like Never Before
Every support ticket on Apple's forum is breaking news now.[0]

caiob··on Am I logged in or not? GDPR case study on the example of Chrome browser change
> their team (managers and developers) are all over twitter and reddit trying to explain the privacy violations away

That's literally their jobs as Chrome evangelists. They're just doing what they're told.

caiob··on EU to stop changing the clocks in 2019
Brazil does not have provinces, it has states and territories.
caiob··on Firefox 62.0 Released
> Added Canadian English (en-CA) locale

Not bad, Eh?!

caiob··on [dead]
iCloud doesn’t get a lot of love around here, but it’s been one of the most stable cloud services that I’ve been using for the past couple of years or so. It really lives up to Apple’s motto of “it just works”
caiob··on We designed Canada's cities for cars, not people – and the people are dying
Take the 2nd and 3rd biggest cities in Canada (Montreal and Vancouver respectively) as an example. These places are meccas of cycling in North America. Generalizing Canada's cities is so typical of Torontonians, while their own city is the exception when it comes down to traffic and gun violence.
caiob··on We designed Canada's cities for cars, not people – and the people are dying
Toronto was designed for cars, not Canada's cities. Toronto just happens to be one of them.
caiob··on What happens if you mistakenly apply for British citizenship?
Mind providing an example?
caiob··on Google Titan Security Key
Funny how this climbed to the top on HN, without anyone knowing what this is exactly.
caiob··on On the Sad State of Macintosh Hardware
Have you seen Apple’s quarterly profits?
caiob··on On the Sad State of Macintosh Hardware
No sarcasm. I'm genuinely curious about it. You gotta admit that most customers would take the former over the latter though. Less than 1% of their user-base needs a laptop with 128+GB of RAM.
caiob··on On the Sad State of Macintosh Hardware
I think you're referring to power users. 99% of their customers are fine with Apple's new offerings.
caiob··on On the Sad State of Macintosh Hardware
But what about battery life?
caiob··on On the Sad State of Macintosh Hardware
performant != polished
caiob··on On the Sad State of Macintosh Hardware
I'm sorry, but I see this as uncalled-for cynicism for the sake of it. Can you point me to an alternative to Apple hardware that is as polished and solid as Apple's MacBooks?
caiob··on Apple introduces macOS Mojave
I use Tmux, so this is the first time I notice it. Wow!
caiob··on Apple introduces macOS Mojave
I wonder if Terminal.app now supports True Color.
