caiob··on Vim 8.1
I personally didn't like how :terminal was implemented. The keystrokes are not intuitive at all. Sure, I could remap some keys around, but what's the point?! Tmux + Vim is just better.
caiob··on Premium Account Activity API
I’m just going to sit and wait until Twitter falls into the irrelevancy black hole.
caiob··on Ready-made Stripe Checkout for freelancers
Being a freelancer, why on Earth would I accept credit card payments? Extra fees, charges etc...
caiob··on Ready-made Stripe Checkout for freelancers
I don't like being negative, and I applaud Stripe's initiative here, but this will never fly in Canada. We have Interac e-mail transfer up here which is easier and better at just about everything.
caiob··on New autoplay policy in Chrome
This reminds me so much of “Gryzzl” on Parks and Rec.

“We just want to learn everything about you, collect all your data and watch everything you do”

caiob··on Canada facing ‘brain drain’ as tech talent leaves for Silicon Valley
'Free' as in as long as you both have the same socially-acceptable opinion.
caiob··on A look at terminal emulators, part 2
Code readability.
caiob··on A look at terminal emulators, part 2
No ligature support is a deal breaker for me though, and it doesn't seem there's an easy fix to this issue.
caiob··on RememBear Official Launch
McAfee RememBear (!) How's this any better than 1Password? I'd like to hear a compelling reason to switch besides "our app has a bear in it"
caiob··on 1Password for Open Source Projects
I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. I find $36/yearly a bargain for the value their product provides. 1Password is one of those tools I couldn't imagine my life without. And $36 is a small price to pay to have my online identity a little safer and more manageable.
caiob··on Hiring, firing and more
I for one found the bad suggestions to outnumber the good ones by a large margin, to be honest.
caiob··on Slack client for the terminal
Apps like Slack make millions of dollars every day. What's their excuse to not hire platform-oriented devs to build native apps that run smoother?
caiob··on Tech takes over: New York is the sector's second city
> On Wall Street, new computer engineers get hired at $120,000, but senior managers can make $400,000 plus the bonuses Wall Street hands out every winter

This always bums me out. Why do managers make so much more money than engineers?

caiob··on Upwork banned my account for 'being dishonest'
I believe she meant to start the session on every page. E.g.: `session_start()`

But you're right. The question is confusing even for experienced PHP devs.

caiob··on Artists and writers whose works enter the public domain in 2018
How exactly does CHE GUEVARA not make it into the picture list?
caiob··on Canadian government gag order in CIA brainwashing case
This has substance, and it has precedent: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/trudeau-defend...
caiob··on macOS lock screen: “I just sent my session pass to my whole team”
I may be wrong, but Slack might be hijacking the window order, there's def some monkey business going on there.
caiob··on Silicon Valley Struggles to Add Conservatives to Its Ranks
For instance, I view gender as a binary.
caiob··on Silicon Valley Struggles to Add Conservatives to Its Ranks
Sorry, but I beg to differ. I can say with confidence that I would get fired if I openly exposed my political views at my job, whereas my Liberal counterparts freely discourse their ideas and opinions on a daily-basis without any consequence. The Tech industry is wildly leftist, with zero tolerance for the conservative ideology.
caiob··on Run Windows 2000 in your browser
I wonder if there's ever gonna be a day when we'll see Vista running in the browser.
caiob··on Workers at Amazon's main Italian hub, German warehouses strike on Black Friday
Does that affect Boxing day deals at all?
caiob··on Firefox Private Browsing vs. Chrome Incognito: Which Is Faster?
Agreed! Video playback is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to Chrome.
caiob··on 1Password X: A look at the future of 1Password in the browser
Also on Safari 11. WebCrypto is widely available now.
caiob··on Venezuela just defaulted, moving deeper into crisis
I'm no anarchist nor know about all the technicalities involved, but at what point does Venezuela become vulnerable to invasions from countries which they share a border with (E.g. Brazil, Colombia)? I'm assuming if you don't have enough money to run a country, you certainly don't have enough to protect the border and power the military.
caiob··on Is your city getting ready for autonomous vehicles?
Ottawa just became the first Canadian city to have a self-driving car actually on the road. It should be on the list.

caiob··on Interactive Vim tutorial
> Mode confusion is a feature, not a bug.

Then you realize that insert mode is the least useful mode there is.

caiob··on Gitlab 10.0 released
To me, Gitlab's UI is a hybrid of Github and Bitbucket. Best of both worlds. IMO it's just a matter of time until it surpasses Github in terms of usability. Now, you raise a good point noting that Github's been operating on losses. How will Github make enough money to sustain growth as it becomes THE go-to place for developers of all kinds and levels?
caiob··on Google Chrome to stop autoplaying content with sound
Safari does this on High Sierra.
caiob··on Chelsea Manning: The Dystopia We Signed Up For
So, I am reading an article written by Chelsea Manning about trust and confidentiality. Am I reading this right? Is this where we are at now!?
caiob··on Headless mode in Firefox
How would you differentiate say: "http://googlemail.buyviagra.com"

From: "https://mail.google.com"

If they looked the same.
