cag_ii··on For Homeless Advocates, a Discouraging Lesson in L.A.: Money Is Not Enough
No, my point is they don't have to move. Housing for the homeless afaik is largely entirely voluntary, and one of the big issues in my understanding is that, even when available, some will choose (for various reasons) not to use it. Making it available elsewhere will make it even less likely one would accept the help, and even if they did it wouldn't address the issue in the area being discussed.
cag_ii··on For Homeless Advocates, a Discouraging Lesson in L.A.: Money Is Not Enough
You're discussing criminal behavior. California has policies and institutions in place to deal with criminal behavior. They're not perfect, but that's an entirely different discussion.

Suggesting that the entire homeless population are criminals is disingenuous at best, and this kind of fear-mongering distracts from productive discussion about how best to help.

cag_ii··on For Homeless Advocates, a Discouraging Lesson in L.A.: Money Is Not Enough
I was fairly certain that forced relocation was generally not tolerated in the US anymore until I read your comment and the sibling comment suggesting the same thing.

These are human beings, and suggesting they be "moved" to different areas because of their socioeconomic status or being "Elderly, Mentally Unstable, Substance Addicted" is completely unacceptable to me.

cag_ii··on For Homeless Advocates, a Discouraging Lesson in L.A.: Money Is Not Enough
The simple answer is so they're no longer homeless. Less expensive housing already exists in other places. People, for various reasons, choose to remain in Los Angeles.

I believe Equifax dropped the credit freeze charge due to the backlash [0]. The other reporting agencies may still charge however.

cag_ii··on Scotland plans to make petrol and diesel cars obsolete by 2032
Obsolete does not mean nonexistent.

If the goal as the article claims is to "phase out all petrol and diesel car sales", then obsolete seems about right.

cag_ii··on The most commonly used photo camera-lens combinations
Neat list, but What exactly does "Most Commonly Used Camera-Lens Combinations" mean in this context? I find it highly suspect the the most common camera/lens combo is the $3000 US EOS 5D Mk III kit; I'd expect the more affordable D3200/EOS t5 camera range to be more commonly used. Some more information about the methodology used would be helpful.

The $800 usually mentioned is actually the yearly minimum tax for an LLC in CA.

From the LLC-1 form:

"Filing Form LLC-1 will obligate most LLCs to pay an annual minimum $800 tax to the California Franchise Tax Board. For more information about taxes, go to https://www.ftb.ca.gov."

FWIW, my usage is quite different. I do browse the popular/recommended/etc., but only to add things to my list. When I want to watch something I usually select it from "my list".

As someone who lives in California and practices lane filtering daily, I think you'd be surprised how much of a non-issue all three of your points are.

Addressing #1, the problem with cutting in line is that people now behind you will have to wait longer for their turn. This is very rare when a m/c filters. It's much more like moving around the line than cutting in line. Most drivers here in CA are very well aware of this when lane filtering occurs. Additionally, m/c's will generally not go to the front and occupy the lane, but rather ride between the lanes... essentially opening up an additional lane.

#2 is very much like #3, motorcycles are generally gone before drivers put their cell phones away at a newly green light. The 2 lanes are designed for the size of cars, motorcycles can safely ride between these lanes.

#3 may be a regional thing to your area, but most definitely not true in Ca.

There are certainly some drivers who get angry at motorcycles for "cutting in line", but I've personally experience many, many more drivers making extra room to let riders pass.

cag_ii··on Apple says Pokémon Go is the most downloaded app in its first week ever
Quote from the article: "... the app has attracted more downloads in the App Store during its first week than any other app in App Store history."
cag_ii··on Apple Watch sales are down 55%
I don't think this should really come as a great surprise. One would have to expect the initial sales numbers were partly due to the "something new" effect, and Apple clearly has a devoted following in that regard.

That said, I think the smart-watch market (especially apple) is still missing it's killer app. I thought for me it'd be the full-time fitness tracker, but in practice the experience has been inferior to dedicated fitness trackers I already own (but devices I wouldn't want to wear or have limited utility outside of the activity, for example).

The OS update does look promising, and seems like a much better move that pushing out new hardware with the same old software like many were speculating.
