caberus··on 737 Max Explanation by a Software Engineer
in such a complex system, software is the first thing to save your ass if there is a problem, and also the first thing to blame
caberus··on We’re ready for foldable phones, but are they ready for us?
phones with moving parts always had problems in the past, now there will be same issues with foldables too, however, i like they are pushing limits to make better foldable phones.
caberus··on 3D Printed Head Fools Android Face Recognition, iPhone X 'Impenetrable'
there were some news from China that one lady had returned her iPhone X because her colleague had unlocked it using Face ID
caberus··on I still miss my headphone jack, and I want it back
i love "my not so expensive and average quality" earphones. i simply plug it my iphone 6s, then my work laptop and when i'm home i use it while gaming with my MBP 2015. i sometimes forgot them in my pocket and find them while ironing my pants; they smell good, look very clean and work like a charm when i plug in to my phone. if i lose them or somehow they don't work, i can buy the same for a few bucks. if i want i can use a cool bluetooth earphones but i really don't want, and moreover i really don't want to be force to do so
caberus··on Even Mark Zuckerberg puts tape over his webcam
i'm curious about that too
caberus··on Even Mark Zuckerberg puts tape over his webcam
if yes, he is definitely following rules
caberus··on Free VPN integrated in Opera for better online privacy
that would be really handy if browser listens a port to proxify other applications
caberus··on Facebook should offer solidarity flags for every country – or none at all
people have been dying in middle east for many years, especially in Palestine, but i've never seen such unified reaction from all over the world. are lives in france more valuable? is terror more awful in europe?
caberus··on Premium Android hits the wall
strongly agree that, another problem is that even "premium" manufacturers don't make quick rom releases. minor android versions skipped and major updates come really late, more than 3 months at least.

Apple still gives support to 4 year old iPhone 4s. though it's lagging a bit. but after a year buying such premium device, you start to get updates late or no at all.

caberus··on Create Your Own CPU on an FPGA
almost 10 years ago i wrote vhdl code on spartan series cards, and that time i noticed that Xilinx IDE was really far from Visual Studio. hope things have changed since then. So my suggestion is to check development tools as well, if you dont need the "best" board just, but also the ease of development
caberus··on Your hard drives were RIDDLED with NSA SPYWARE
some more interesting details about exploit: https://securelist.com/blog/research/68877/equation-group-fr...
caberus··on The Jolla phone – first impressions
strongly agree, ppi is high but far from the top phones on the market.
caberus··on Completely remove app ops activity.
first time i heard about this, i thought that it was a great feature, but it is not available in KitKat. Google simply says "I'm god here"
caberus··on Android isn't freedom, because Google is closed
i understand you point, and even file manager not exists on iOS, despite is running a modified version of unix, in which almost everything is presented as file or directory...

experience of Android is only on Google's Android, this is my point, if you want to have the true Android Experience, than you have to use Google's Android because Google Apps only run on official Android OS

caberus··on Android isn't freedom, because Google is closed
and actually, i am looking for jolla, i hope it will be a "open" platform
caberus··on Android isn't freedom, because Google is closed
one thing i like about Apple, despite being closed, old devices get software support, for example iPhone 4 released in 2010 and get the newest version of iOS.

i bought my Android device 2.5 years ago it has only get 2.3.5 , initially it was 2.3.3.

caberus··on Android isn't freedom, because Google is closed
yes, but as i can see there are no 2013 year's devices listed in supported devices page
caberus··on Android isn't freedom, because Google is closed
Google has too much authority over Android Platform itself like Apple and Microsoft :

While Android remains free for anyone to use as they would like, only Android compatible devices benefit from the full Android ecosystem. By joining the Open Handset Alliance, each member contributes to and builds one Android platform—not a bunch of incompatible versions

caberus··on Nokia acquired by Microsoft
this makes Elop the most dangerous trojan horse of all times
caberus··on Nokia acquired by Microsoft
maybe it sounds irrelevant, but always i wonder that, why Nokia pays less attention to Linux, a Finnish company and an OS born in Finland? Only a few Nokia devices run some kind of Linux and i think they are not so bad (my favorite is N9, btw).
caberus··on Hacking Transcend WiFi SD Cards
a kickstarter project, with a more powerful hardware and easy to hack system, would be great
caberus··on Alternatives to Lavabit, with no physical ties to the United States?
it looks countermail.com is a good alternative, has an interesting feature: Diskless web server and some other "unique features".
caberus··on Poll: What is your primary desktop OS?
i have been using windows for many years, but in recent years i got experience on linux (console) environment. then i tried many times to switch linux permanently, but always i can't find it easy to use. for example when i connect my monitor to my laptop, switching between my laptops sceeen and monitor is easy on windows but linux can't handle this well, or when i watch video on youtube linux can't perform well on fullscreen, but on windows, it plays with no lagg. however i think when it comes to server environment, windows has no chance against any unix like os.
