That person would presumably be vaccinated, thus they wouldn't get the virus from him. Why does everyone talk about how the vaccine works, but then use this argument against people that don't want to get the vaccine?
Musk is still a dick for the comment. He was butt hurt, because his stoner idea of a tiny submarine was met with the "umm, WTF" that it should by actual people saving the kids lives.
I think these are some of the highest recorded temps, like in Seattle and Portland ever. And it being July, if it is hitting record temps in California, Nevada and Arizona, then it might be a bit hotter than in years past.
We also ran into issues with the CDK, that it errors out if the resource already exists and was not created with the CDK. We end up using Ansible for the DynamoDB. Though Ansible can't deploy to LocalStack. So, it seems that we are still in a world where you have to use a couple different IaC tools depending on the needs.
We had the same issue with DynamoDB, that Terraform is all to happy to delete a table it deems acceptable to delete. Which in 99 out of 100 cases is never the case. It is a very aggressive IaC tool.
We have two different teenagers in our neighborhood that help for a couple hours a week to clean the kitchen. Also, it seems that almost every restaurant and store in the Charleston area has a ton of teenage employees.
I live in Charleston, South Carolina. Moved here in September because LA was so locked down. I go out pretty much anywhere I want here all the time, and nothing is locked down whatsoever. Could not have been happier to move to somewhere where they don't chain up the swings and let nobody into the parks except the homeless.
I would say in terms of anti-monopoly, that there is some natural cutoff that companies are forced to split. For instance, AWS and Amazon can easily be two separate companies as the missions and revenue streams of each are vastly different.
I quit a job right after college because of the scene in Office Space where they smash the printer with a bat in the field. That movie was kind of a tip of the hat to the Luddites.
If going to a startup, do you have a desire to be the CTO, or a key contributor. If CTO, or top person in charge of the technology, you will learn a lot about how to run the company. If as a key contributor, it will depend on how many are on the team, as if you aren't working core with the founders themselves, it will usually feel like a normal job. Not that that is a bad thing, but just usually the reality.
We've been using the Firebase platform for a while now. It's pretty cool to see them expand from 3 products to ~15 overnight. I'm most excited about their analytics and crash reporting. I must say that their system has been one of the best we have used in a longtime, I am really excited to see other aspects like analytics and ads being housed under this same umbrella, as I think it is going to help with development time overall. One area that I'd like to see improved though is a deeper querying language for database, or even better would be a way to automatically export the system in realtime to a postgres database for better SQL type analytics.
What I do for my production apps is. For dev, i simply use all the individual files. For staging, I minify and concatenate and push it to an S3 bucket, and read it directly from there. For production, on CDN, because of caching, I add a version number to my js and css file name. This way I alway s guarantee that the user is using the correct version of my client code. I have grunt tasks to do all of these automatically, and it has worked really well for me.
I agree, I used to get excited about just jquery plugins. But noe using node.js and ember.js makes me almost not want to code in anything else. (Except for objective-c for ios and java for android)
It is just amazing to see how much it has exploded in the last few years. Serverside js and client side mvc will keep me excited at least for another year.
