I agree about the risks but when I search for those words in posts, I don't seem to find much.

For example, here's stories with "prompt" (only look at post titles, not the story text):

busymom0··on Eating Fruit Skins
On a related note, a friend of mine removed both the skin and even the center core (the seeds part) of cucumbers. I think all that's left is about 30% of the cucumber.

I found that truly bizarre. Her reasoning was that it was too watery (???)

busymom0··on Eating Fruit Skins
Aren't the seeds of the apple supposed to contain cyanide? Article points this out too and risk doesn't seem worth it. I used to eat the whole apple long time ago until someone pointed that out and from my googling, it was correct. Now I try to eat all of the apple except the seeds and stem.

I like putting my apples in the fridge. Love me a cold and crisp gala apple. On very rare occasion, the gala I get are mushy. But otherwise, they are my favorite.

busymom0··on Eating Fruit Skins
I just hold it by the leaves in my fingers and take a huge bite of the entire berry with my teeth ending right before the leaves.
busymom0··on Instagram's head says engagement falls by half without the algorithm
> My ideal Instagram algorithm would be to show me only the people I follow, in chronological order. Then show me a marker that I'm at the end of my feed and at that point they can offer me their feed.

I am working on a new social media. I am curious about this point. How would you discover new people to follow initially?

And, is a separate explore page of people you don't follow okay?

That would miss a lot of posts.

busymom0··on Ask HN: Can we please limit the AI news flood?
Yea, it will also block words like email, daily, main, domain, train etc as the term AI is case insensitive without word boundaries.

I used gemini to update it to:

    news.ycombinator.com##tr.athing:has(a:has-text(/\b(?:A\.?I\.?|A\.?G\.?I\.?|LLMs?|GPTs?|TPU|NPU|RAG|MoE|RLHF|xAI)\b|Anthropic|agent|super-?intelligence|Blackwell|Cerebras|ChatGPT|Claude|Cohere|Command\s*R|Context\s*window|Copilot|Cursor|DALL-E|deep\s*learning|DeepSeek|ElevenLabs|Fine-tun(?:e|ing)|Flux|Gemini|GenAI|Generative|Gemma|Grok|Groq|H100|Hallucination|harness(?:es)?|Hugging\s*Face|LangChain|Llama|LlamaIndex|Midjourney|Mistral|Ollama|OpenAI|OpenRouter|Perplexity|prompt|Qwen|Runway\s*(?:AI|ML)|Gen-[1-4](?:\.5)?|Sora|Synthetic\s*data|token|vibecod|vLLM|Whisper/i)):xpath(. | following-sibling::tr[1])
Note that blocking token, prompt, agent, and harness will also block things like auth tokens, SSH agents.

busymom0··on Ask HN: Can we please limit the AI news flood?
I think you should replace vibecode with vibecod so that you can catch vibecoding too.

Also add "vibe cod" with a space.

And add token, Gemini, OpenAI, llama

busymom0··on Shopify is moving from React Native back to Swift and Kotlin
Same here. Glad I stuck with native iOS development. I still haven’t switched to SwiftUI though (except for some small stuff). Still sticking with UIKit here.
busymom0··on Shopify is moving from React Native back to Swift and Kotlin
I develop iOS and Android apps and all the apps I have in App/Play Store are native. I did try React Native a few years ago but I just didn’t like how much extra bloat I had to include as third party dependencies.

Plus now with iPhone Duo which has so much variation in layout, I don’t think React Native would work well for it.

busymom0··on iPhone Duo
I think the rounded corners of the the duo might be more comfortable to hold when open.

The first few years of recorded presentation was okay because they were showing the Apple Park building which was pretty unique and the transitions were super cool. But now, it's the same old stuff again and again. It's the same building, same transitions. Live presentations would be so much more authentic.

busymom0··on Show HN: I made a word building game supporting anagrams and one handed use
My first inspiration was:

https://wordnerd.co/23words/

From that discussion, I came across 18words. Not sure if it's still the case but last time I tried, it didn't allow anagrams of words. And the main thing I didn't like was the timer which used to not allow entering word after 30 second was over. Last time I checked, they had no hints and no difficulty levels.

Unscramble! fixes these as such:

Anagrams are allowed and give extra points.

My timer counts upwards. So it doesn't penalize you for taking very long to get the answer. You can take as long as you want. But if you get answer very quickly (varies per length and difficulty levels), then you get extra points.

Timer can also be disabled if one wants to play in peace.

You can get hints for words. Like first letter, second letter etc.

There are 6 difficulty levels which is based upon how popular those words are in everyday use and length.

Unscramble! let's you play forever. It's not a daily thing. So you can play as many words as you want whenever.

As a native mobile app, the experience is also much nicer as it allows me to use things like haptic feedback, Game Center integration for global leaderboards and iCloud syncing of played words across devices so that same words don't show up again (obviously until all words are depleted but that's going to be a long time later).

busymom0··on 2026 Hugo Awards
The Expanse was my favorite tv show! However with the latest season finale of season 3 of SILO, it may have become my favorite now.

Any other tv show recommendations? We seem to have similar taste.

To be fair, what we have seen with the insane investments in AI so far, needing immense capital is no longer an issue.

Private cloud compute I think. I learnt about it today too from this reddit post which mentions how:

> At WWDC, Apple announced that starting in the 27.x versions of iOS, macOS, etc., devs would be able to call Private Cloud Compute directly from Swift with no additional API configuration. Presently, the only way to get free cloud inference is by joining the App Store Small Business Program.

busymom0··on New Mac mini, featuring M6 and M5 Pro
I got an Apple refurbished m4 Mac mini with 32gb ram and 512gb ssd in September last year for $1300 Canadian.

Also m4 Mac mini seem to now be in stock on their refurbished store.
