burnerburnson··on 'Like we were lesser humans': Gaza boys, men recall Israeli arrest, torture
"Intentional mass murdering of civilians" is what Palestine did to start this war in the first place. So even if Israel were deliberately targeting civilians (there's no evidence for this) they would still be on the right side of this conflict.
burnerburnson··on Epic vs. Google: Google Loses
He said "friendlier than apple." Please read the comment in its entirety before replying next time.
burnerburnson··on The pro-Israel information war
I like how you put "problem" in quotes as if Palestine does not regularly shoot unguided missiles at Israel with the goal of killing civilians.

Maybe you need a quick history refresher but the Jews were not doing that in 1930s Germany.

burnerburnson··on 'Weird Al' Roasts Spotify's Artist Payout System in Year-End Wrapped Video
Seeing megamillionaires complain that the common man only has to pay $10/month to listen to their music is getting pretty old.
burnerburnson··on New York may ban noncompete employment agreements and Wall Street is not happy
The benefit to society is the same as patents or copyright. Companies will be more likely to invest in developing new technology if they are confident their competitors won't be able to use the result.
burnerburnson··on Google News is shutting down purchased magazine content, offering refunds
Streaming services refusing to let me watch episodes of shows like Always Sunny and the Simpsons for political reasons is my primary reason for supporting piracy. These companies care more about pushing an agenda than they do about their customers. Disney in particular is downright evil and I don't want to give them a single penny.
burnerburnson··on ICE faces heat after agents install apps, VPNs on official phones
Don't let this blogger find out, but I too have installed apps on my employer-provided phone.
burnerburnson··on I trapped scammers in an impossible maze [video]
Only on HackerNews could I find some idiot trying to drum up sympathy for phone scammers.
burnerburnson··on Home schooling's rise from fringe to fastest-growing form of education
You sound like a terrible parent.
burnerburnson··on My elderly parents can't resist answering the phone
It's disappointing that the US government hasn't done more to stop this.

In this specific case, the author should probably see if he can get his parents put in a conservatorship. That would at least help limit the damage when one of the scams does eventually work.

burnerburnson··on Striking auto workers want a 40% pay increase–the same rate their CEOs’ pay grew
That's not an interesting thought experiment at all. The workers in aggregate are clearly more valuable than the CEO alone. That's why their cumulative salary is way higher than the CEO's.
burnerburnson··on Striking auto workers want a 40% pay increase–the same rate their CEOs’ pay grew
It's obviously wrong. NBA teams are a good counter-example. Nobody talks about the team's president/CEO/etc when prognosticating which team will be the best.
burnerburnson··on Striking auto workers want a 40% pay increase–the same rate their CEOs’ pay grew
That's moronic. A good CEO at a fortune 500 company could have a $100M revenue impact. That same CEO could never be worth $100M to a local restaurant. The idea that the bigger company can't offer more to attract a better CEO just because both businesses employ janitors that make market rate is mind-numbingly stupid.
burnerburnson··on Google, Meta, Amazon hiring low-paid H1B workers after US layoffs
I'm a manager of a team that's mostly H1Bs at Google. It's mostly fine but a few of them just refuse improve their English, and it's frustrating spending hours every day just being an English teacher to an engineer who writes at a 5th grade level. The problem with hiring too many H1Bs is they speak to each other in Chinese and thus take forever to become proficient at communicating with the rest of the company.

Also, I'd call into question the credibility of this article. Google pays H1Bs the same as Americans as far as I know. What Google is doing is hiring a large number of engineers in India. These people I assume are paid much less than American engineers.
