buckthundaz··on The future of classicism
Many architects are not anti-classical buildings/designs. Architects are relatively powerless at reestablishing classic motifs and construction styles because of the economic reality of building in the old tradition.

ie. Labor costs have risen dramatically, while labor quality (craftsmanship) has declined. New buildings are more like an assembly of products than a collected effort of artisans to make a lasting, beautiful structure.

buckthundaz··on The Wealthy Are Hoarding $10B of Bitcoin in Bunkers
I said nothing about Keynes -- I said Keynesianism. You understood this meaning well.

Would you concede that the economic policies rooted in Keynes's ideas created an environment that allowed for the snowballing issues we have?

The issue that isn't present in your comment is top-down imposed order vs. bottom-up emergent order. To me, the former is degenerative, while the latter is sustainable.

buckthundaz··on The Wealthy Are Hoarding $10B of Bitcoin in Bunkers
Indeed. The stockholm syndrome of Keynesianism is pervasive and unnoticed by many. The correct response to erosion of value is hoarding.
buckthundaz··on Lost Art of Bending Over: How Other Cultures Spare Their Spines
Placing children in seats and forcing them to not move for entire days, with repeated exposure from age 4 and on.

It's a natural movement -- culture is not natural.

buckthundaz··on Switzerland embraces digital currencies and crypto-entrepreneurs
You are hallucinating here, please reread our exchange.

Your conflation of ETH and BTC is disingenuous.

What were your thoughts on the iPhone when it came out?

buckthundaz··on Switzerland embraces digital currencies and crypto-entrepreneurs
I'm not sure you can buy Bitcoin, but you can buy public transit tickets with Bitcoin (from kiosks) in Zurich and likely elsewhere in Switzerland.

Do you have a link/source to reversed BTC transactions?

At point 3, you seem to be strawmanning ETH for BTC, where it seems the user you're replying to is referring to BTC.

Early tech is early tech. We all know this. More people use the internet now that you don't have to dial-up and make your phone line busy for it.

Credit card fees are (typically) pushed to merchants, the actually settlement time takes far longer than the transaction time.

Let's say in 10 years, all of your issues are solved by a cryptocurrency -- would you like the option of having a non-state issued, hard to confiscate, tamper-resistant money?

buckthundaz··on Twitter is finally cracking down on bots
Seems the time is neigh for Proof of ( human ) Identity.

Something akin with Captchas / Turing tests, but antifragile against gamification, with requisite incentives, and without adverse surveillance.

buckthundaz··on Sex and STEM: Stubborn Facts and Stubborn Ideologies
I'd like to add:

You see the term 'equal opportunity employer' -- it is meaningful and fair.

How does the term 'equal outcome employer' sound?

buckthundaz··on Sex and STEM: Stubborn Facts and Stubborn Ideologies
Is moral ideology beholden to demographics?

Equality of opportunity is meant as: Inequality should rise from personal choice and decisions, otherwise, why should anyone strive to be better than anyone else?

I suggest looking at the history of states that favor equality of opportunity (equality) against equality of outcome (equity).

I'll leave you with this Soviet joke: 'They pretend to pay us, we pretend to work.'

Please see this idea illustrated in two ways: -http://deplorablyconservative.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02... -https://ars.els-cdn.com/content/image/1-s2.0-S01680102140029...

buckthundaz··on Lucian Asks, Why Sports? (180 CE)
That is one reading. A more nuanced reading is found in the cliche: 'It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game.'

I believe that sports serve as a teacher of morality to the masculine aspect.

> "Everything I know about morality and the obligations of men, I owe it to football (soccer).”

Do you think that qualitative data is useless?

'It would be damn near impossible to conclude anything from such research without a control. “Randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled trial” is the critical sentence'

Since the advent of randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled trial has our public health improved or declined?

Yes. Great share on your link. Here's another good one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzcOz38FjaU

Yes. We as a culture do not move around enough to utilize the sugar we ask our body's to digest ( fast + dirty fuel )

The surplus sugar serves as a substrate to allow candida to thrive, not to mention a myriad of other maladies.

buckthundaz··on Venezuelan Hyperinflation Explodes, Soaring Over 440,000 Percent
> Why do I trust it? Because it continues to work, can it fail? Sure, but there is little incentive for those in power to mess around as it would jeopardize the system.

The incentive for them does not extend to you, as illustrated in 2008. They fail, you pay.

Do you realize in our current economic climate that your dollar today is more valuable than the same dollar in 10 years? Would you like it to appreciate/depreciate in value as time goes on?

Bitcoin is a perfect hedge against the issues of state-issued currency.

buckthundaz··on Dogecoin's inventor looks to the past for insight into the future
You are correct that the activity that led to all financial crises will not be mitigated in the domain of national currencies. It will be avoided in decentralized money that is uncorrelated, like gold.

Your concept of decentralization is off. The purpose of it is this: How many points of failure are there? How many of these points can break before the cards all fall? If this happens, who pays for it?

This illustrates that the USD is not decentralized.

Cryptocurrency is an exit from this, much like gold or real estate or other investment vehicles. Cryptocurrency is available to anyone with a phone and internet access -- that cannot be said for any other investment vehicle.

This will take the wind out of the sails of financial institutions as there is another option for people.

This isn't a radical diet. This is our natural diet.

Carbs dissolve digest sugar and are unnecessary for human metabolism. If you stop poisoning yourself, you will find your health rebounds.
