bubblematrix··on How Africans are changing French, one joke, rap and book at a time
This makes zero sense.
bubblematrix··on How Africans are changing French, one joke, rap and book at a time
Same, in Paris we've encountered the same hour-long "where's the waiter"
bubblematrix··on How Africans are changing French, one joke, rap and book at a time
This doesn't make sense.
bubblematrix··on How Africans are changing French, one joke, rap and book at a time
My last trip to Paris was 1 year ago and it was pretty bad compared to NYC, Los Angeles, and San Francisco for the average tourist - especially at night.

Source? How does it not sound plausible?
bubblematrix··on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile want to access your bank account
It has nothing to do with credit card processing fees, or data-mining.

Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile want you to connect a bank account to further tie an identity to a phone number / account.

This comes at request of the government. They do not want anonymous cellular users.

bubblematrix··on The Ptrace Anti-RE Trick
No he is referring to happyware.
bubblematrix··on Threads.net Can Go to Hell
The funny thing is Product Marketing Managers, to boost sign-up numbers, completely omit this step in certain regions like India, Eastern Europe, etc.
bubblematrix··on Luck be a Landlord is now banned in 13 countries on the Google Play Store
Agreed, it literally looks like a slot machine app...
bubblematrix··on TikTok pushing Chinese propaganda to millions of users in Europe: analysis

bubblematrix··on TikTok pushing Chinese propaganda to millions of users in Europe: analysis
It's a boilerplate response for pro-China comments.
bubblematrix··on Kevin Mitnick has died
Rest in Peace Kevin, I read your The Art of Human Hacking in 7th grade after learning about you from The Screen Savers TV show.

Too young

bubblematrix··on Generate RSS feed for any website using CSS selectors
CSS selectors has been common for the scrapers I've been using for years.
bubblematrix··on Generate RSS feed for any website using CSS selectors
This honestly is standard web scraping but these projects always catch my attention.

You're bound at the mercy of rate-limiting firewalls (so you'll have to rotate proxies if you intend on using this heavily) on top of the standard CloudFront bot detection recaptcha, and div-obfuscation (a good example of this is Facebook).

bubblematrix··on Twitter Is DDOSing Itself
Agreed, it's fud - and there are professional botnets on HackerNews to amplify what they want.

What I've noticed is there's little technical discussion, and more so emotional-provoking replies.

bubblematrix··on The skilled trades haven't caught as a career choice with Gen Z
Your mistake is the assumption I'm translating it into salary. That $1,000 a day can go towards additional employees (coverage area) and marketing.
bubblematrix··on The skilled trades haven't caught as a career choice with Gen Z
Well here's some logic for you. Before entering enterprise tech (8+ years), I managed a finish-construction company warehouse. Being good at web development, I helped a buddy start a locksmith company and have a small portion of equity for doing all his marketing/SEO (since 2012). He makes close to $1mil/year and lives out of a warehouse... Spare me with your "ridiculous piece of your worldview"...
bubblematrix··on The skilled trades haven't caught as a career choice with Gen Z
Independent plumbers/local plumbing businesses can easily earn $1,000/day with 2-3 service calls. Not sure how universal healthcare, PTO, immigration, and more pay have to do with this.

Edit: Thank you for all the downvotes for me calling out the weird correlation between tech benefits/politics and plumber skill-shortage + high-reward wages. Your wokeism will forever benefit society.

bubblematrix··on Email Marketing to Developers
The problem is Marketing departments are typically ran by boomers who want these things cranked out. Easy goals for them, they're not graded on the performance past open rates.
bubblematrix··on Twitter bans posting of links to Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon and more
Good. Amazon doesn't allow AliExpress links in their reviews.
bubblematrix··on Bipartisan Legislation to Ban TikTok
TikTok had a sharp decline in quality content anyway, it's a dying platform like Vine.
bubblematrix··on You're Being Lied to About Electric Cars
Did you really just try to do an SEO boost here...
bubblematrix··on ‘It's all bullshit’: Democrats unload on the crypto industry while hearings loom
I think you read one story about a pizza and really clung to it.
bubblematrix··on ‘It's all bullshit’: Democrats unload on the crypto industry while hearings loom
Yep, it grabs the latest price of Bitcoin for each invoice. A flat, non-dynamic price was cool when Bitcoin was under $100 (so "Starting at 0.1₿/mo")
bubblematrix··on ‘It's all bullshit’: Democrats unload on the crypto industry while hearings loom
It's funny to watch how crazy Bitcoin drives everyone.

Bitcoin was the hottest thing on IRC in 2009 because of the 2008 recession. The USD (and all other currencies) were becoming questionable in terms of stability. Bitcoin was meant to be a world-currency not tied to one government. Simple as that.

Don't like Bitcoin? Don't believe in it? Don't use it or accept it at your business. I'll continue to use and accept it because I like the concept.

bubblematrix··on CSS Dig
This is neat.

For Properties, can you add a high/low sort for parent and children? That would be useful.

bubblematrix··on When we made the original iPhone, we didn’t have product managers
Couldn't have said it better.

Luckily, this gives people (like me atleast) a great shot at launching a solid product since I won't have an annoying product manager.

The typical product manager today just reads customer feedback and misinterprets data signals. They almost never have a development background where they creatively built something themselves, they always come from some wonky unrelated field... the MBA type.

bubblematrix··on Americans Are Too Fat to Donate Their Bodies to Science (2017)
Thank you, here's more information about Mexico's obesity problem: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obesity_in_Mexico
bubblematrix··on Americans Are Too Fat to Donate Their Bodies to Science (2017)
Another Vice click-bait "America is bad for (x) reason" article.

FYI - Mexico is the most obese nation in the world, surpassing the United States in both Adult and Child obesity.

bubblematrix··on Inflation is at a 40 year high. What can history teach us?
In 2008/2009 when Bitcoin became a thing, we (IRC dorks) were mining it because of the recession. When 1 Bitcoin = $1 USD, that was a big deal - and when it broke past $5 USD that was an even bigger deal.

Bitcoin was made because of the recession and how poorly interconnected global economies were performing. It was supposed to be currency separated from politics/regional crisis.
