bubba_sparks··on Given a place to live, Finland’s homeless were better able to deal with problems
Can we send all our homeless in America to Finland?
bubba_sparks··on Remembering Bob Lee
Are there any events to honor Bob? I never knew the man but he was a part of my community. The SF tech community. I'd like to be a part of any sort of large public gathering to honor his life and work.

We really need to organize people and do something. We all live in this city and we've all tolerated all this too long. To throw your hands up in the air and say it's "hopeless" doesn't help. At a certain point our collective apathy makes this situation our fault.

Let's *hack* a solution! Let's disrupt this city! Let's solve this situation our way! Let Bob not have died in vain!

bubba_sparks··on The Social Experiment Is Over
Thanks a bunch! You made it worth while.
bubba_sparks··on The Social Experiment Is Over
If only. Like religion there are many sects of trolls. Including:

  * Stupid trolls
  * Sexist trolls
  * Racist trolls
  * Homophobic trolls
  * Yo mama trolls
  * Anal sphincter trolls
  * and random specific trolls too many to mention
There's not enough space in my headspace for all that anymore.
bubba_sparks··on Van Life in Japan
Agreed. You probably just ruined it for yourself and every other serendipitous explorer. This is why we can't have nice things.
bubba_sparks··on Job Hunting in 2022
I'd rather be tortured by al qaeda than go through all that. I wish someone would write an article on how to hack this process. There's always a back door. Then again if there were I wouldn't be sharing it here.
bubba_sparks··on Ask HN: Burnt-out, directionless but want to turn it around
Greetings neighbor and fellow traveler. Here's a few ideas.

* Do nothing. "Doing nothing often leads to the very best of something." - Winnie the pooh

* Stop going to work. "I don't like my job and I don't think I'm gonna go anymore." Peter from Office space.

* Let it all play out. My uncle Coydog used to say, "You got to let the river take its course." Well, what does that mean? I don't know. I used to ask him the same thing. He said, "We all in that river, boy." "And the river know right where it's going." Ptolemy Grey

* Be content. "Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you." Lao Tzu

* Get into Philosophy. "Philosophy molds and builds the personality, orders one's life, regulates one's conduct, shows one what one should do and what one should leave undone, sits at the helm and keeps one on the correct course as one is tossed about in perilous seas. Without it no one can lead a life free of fear or worry. Every hour of the day countless situations arise that call for advice, and for that advice we have to look to philosophy." - Seneca

This stresses me out
bubba_sparks··on Maslow never proposed a pyramid
Maslow's Hierarchy for me too. Why does the shape even matter? That's not the point.
bubba_sparks··on Ask HN: Share your personal site
https://www.craigtockman.com/ I love a combination of old tech with new tech. Drag on these diorama's from the 1700's.
bubba_sparks··on Show HN: A tiny solar-powered server only awake during the day
Another one of my ideas stolen. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
bubba_sparks··on Show HN: A tiny solar-powered server only awake during the day
I can see how this is all going to play out. When the robots finally turn on us they'll have a few hours of daylight to hunt and kill us before their power runs out. Perhaps a bit longer if you live in the desert. We will have to scurry about at night scrounging for food like roaches and rats until 7am when their solar batteries have enough juice to power them back online. Progress marches forward one baby step at a time. Congrats dearest Solar Witch engineer, you have sealed all our doom. When the historians look back at when it all started...it started right here.

startupers | multiple openings in startups | silicon valley and other startup hubs

Hello this is Craig the founder of startupers.com the most unpopular website on the internet.

We've been offering this free service since 2006 and nobody seems to give a bleep. I'm the only person in the world who seems to think it's the most bodacious startup job board on the interwebs, but I'm often wrong about everything you can imagine.

I wake every morning, have a cup of coffee, update the site with the latest content, and then go piss in the wind.

Please tell me to end this madness or I will just carry on making myself miserable at:
