bsoqk··on What is going on with ceiling fans
I see no indication that the photo is AI. https://st.hzcdn.com/simgs/pictures/living-rooms/century-woo...
bsoqk··on The Escalation of War in Ethiopia
Because it affects gas prices.
bsoqk··on The Escalation of War in Ethiopia
We give attention to things that deserve our attention, i.e., things that affect us. The war in Ethiopia scores very low on that list, to the point of almost complete irrelevance.
bsoqk··on cp: -r or -R?
It's "ditto", not "dito"
bsoqk··on A 20-year-long permanent cookie: America.gov and tracking
That’s a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist. Nobody considers not getting logged out randomly a problem.
bsoqk··on A 20-year-long permanent cookie: America.gov and tracking
Because when you log in you don’t want to be logged out at (what, for you, will appear to be) a random time of the future.
bsoqk··on A 20-year-long permanent cookie: America.gov and tracking
How long should a cookie you expect to last forever actually last?

If this is the worst thing they’ve found in that portal…
bsoqk··on Why media fans want to escape algorithms with CDs, DVDs and vinyl
Things are good when they are good for you. Things are bad when they are bad for you.

By now the Spotify algorithm has been good for me. The day it starts being bad I’ll badmouth it. It’s not the time yet.

bsoqk··on Several vulnerabilities have been discovered in the Linux kernel
We have a lot of that in Europe. Parasite professions. Someone who does nothing but charges a lot for his signature.
bsoqk··on Why media fans want to escape algorithms with CDs, DVDs and vinyl
I am a "media fan" and algorithms (going back to last.fm) have make me discover so much music that it's not even funny. The idea of "escaping algorithms" is a net negative for me.
bsoqk··on Several vulnerabilities have been discovered in the Linux kernel
So, like professional orders in Europe? Thankfully everybody agreed that writing code is not engineering so this isn't mandated by law, but we were this close.
bsoqk··on US tells France and Germany to release diesel stocks or face US export ban
Of course everybody looks bad when compared to Franco.
bsoqk··on I am so tired of this bullshit
Why are you censoring yourself in your own blog?
bsoqk··on Pentagon Influencer Called Liberal Women 'Pestilence' Who Will End Civilization
Religion, obviously; that’s what the user was talking about.

I didn’t say it was a good or a bad thing. I just stated a fact.

bsoqk··on I could've accessed 17T Microsoft records
It’s the way I interpreted the “got schooled” part. If you don’t try your best, or in fact do the bare minimum, if someone beats you they can’t say they “schooled” you.
bsoqk··on I could've accessed 17T Microsoft records
You assume that whoever was responsible for the implementation of this feature cares in the slightest beyond “it seems to work”.
bsoqk··on The AI Race Just Got Awkward
We live in the era of LLMs, which can produce definitions for any word, further explanations, and limitless examples.
bsoqk··on Pentagon Influencer Called Liberal Women 'Pestilence' Who Will End Civilization
You’ll have to ask yourself why the only institutions that last for centuries or even millennia are the ones that eschew liberalism.
bsoqk··on September 2026: The world today, as seen by one Polish guy
Those problems could be solved with a careful migratory policy (ie what America did back in the day because it was economically impossible for the entire third world to fly there; today, this could be enforced with laws)
bsoqk··on Updated Google Maps shows destruction of the city of Rafah
Perro is controlled by Morocco because he’s being blackmailed by Morocco for the stuff they found in his phone… using Israeli spyware.
bsoqk··on I Switched to Brave Browser
I gave Vivaldi a few chances and its UI was always slow and clunky. It also had a sea of settings that were by default opinionated in a bad way.
bsoqk··on Has Violence Against Teachers Become Accepted by Society?
Everybody deserves the right to work for their own upkeep. Nobody deserves to eat off somebody else's labour.
bsoqk··on When did Google get so weird?
God, grant me the serenity to read the AI summary when it contains true information, the courage to ignore it when it contains falsehoods, and the wisdom to know the difference.
bsoqk··on On caring for user data: NeoVim caused Vim undo files to be deleted
You must feel clever completely missing the point on purpose like that.
bsoqk··on On caring for user data: NeoVim caused Vim undo files to be deleted
If I give away food I have a duty not to poison you. It doesn’t matter you didn’t pay for it.
bsoqk··on Automattic has a new board after failed attempt to put CEO on leave
If I had to stop using all the software whose politics I find problematic I would have to earn a living breaking rocks.
bsoqk··on CAPTCHAs don't prove you're human – they prove you're American (2017)
It’s less used so it’s in much better shape. Try coming to the touristy places of the south.
bsoqk··on We're gonna need a lot more mathematicians
People who study STEM for the enrichment of their intellect are privileged. Most of us had to study STEM (or whatever else) because we had bills to pay.
bsoqk··on CAPTCHAs don't prove you're human – they prove you're American (2017)
In Spain you pay taxes through the nose and there's nothing to show for it. Motorways look like they are you are in Congo.
