bryne··on Airbnb (YC W09) launched an iPhone app
Yeah, this is really pretty pleasing to use. Good on the AirBnB guys.

It looks like the "Daily Deals" are exclusive to the app?

bryne··on Blizzard continues to innovate on the security front
The reader connecting (and transmitting) via USB would sort of defeat the secondary-device security point, wouldn't it?
bryne··on Rage for iPhone
@ID_AA_Carmack: I’m going to regret having “ios” in all my type names when I port Rage Mobile to Android.
bryne··on Full CSS3 Lightbox - Absolutely no JavaScript
It's not as elegant as, say, the lightbox window providing you with the URL to link to, and does cause annoying issues with the browser history.

That said, it's a lot cooler and more robust for site owners who might be looking to provide linkers with a little more context than serving a standalone image.

bryne··on Hey Gmail, 1994 Called, It Wants Its Dial-Up Level Performance Back
I just enable the app in Labs that puts the "Beta" tag back on the Gmail logo and my anger instantly subsides!
bryne··on Desks Near Me - find great coworking places to work at
You're blowing up a straw man. Quite a few people may actually have an active Twitter session and thus no active password entry even occurs. Open it up to Facebook Connect and it's more of the same.

You're comfortable with new user/pass and it doesn't sound safe to you.

bryne··on Desks Near Me - find great coworking places to work at
Oops, I probably could have guessed that from reading your footer :]

Makes sense if it's a submission like that. I really like the idea and would 100% use a service like this were it populated well. Best of luck!

bryne··on Desks Near Me - find great coworking places to work at
There's one location listed in Hollywood, CA, with an address listing of 'hollywood': http://desksnear.me/workplaces/7-fortress-of-solitude

The idea is cute, but I assume there's some kind of QC available for verifying links? Otherwise you're literally begging to be overwhelmed by griefers at this stage.

bryne··on The Facebook API: A Case Study in Not Caring About Developers
We are probably in a similar program, but our developer contact was basically of no use whatsoever. Probably not his fault - it seems to be a cultural thing as observed above.

Even after last week's developer meeting and subsequent rollout of changes, my request for documentation was met with - not paraphrasing - "We'll get back to you."

bryne··on I’m done building Facebook apps for clients
Part of their new 'commitment' to developers (Facebook apparently created an internal Games team several months ago) is a stated paradigm shift towards more and better documentation, but it seems so at odds with the way things are currently done that I'm pretty skeptical.

It does seem as if someone over there is aware that the current situation is pretty awful, at least enough to say "we're working on it".

bryne··on I’m done building Facebook apps for clients
It seems like a cultural issue. We were at an event on Tuesday where they let us know about a host of API changes relating to apps specifically, but when I got back and emailed asking for some documentation (even anything internal), all I got was a "we'll get back to you."

Ironically (or maybe not), part of the presentation was a slide featuring a workgroup with a "Done is better than perfect" poster. Well, yeah, but when you're running a platform service...
